Chapter 182: Chapter 137 Vehicle Transfer of Ownership_3

The off-road vehicle was cruising along the level roadside, and the humming sound of its engine power drew quite a bit of attention.

Professional Treasure Hunters who got wind of the situation started looking at Allen Zhang with different eyes.

Mad, that old clunker with a guaranteed bid, which had been hoarded in the warehouse for over half a year, filled with nothing but dodgy tricks - even dogs wouldn’t buy it, and yet it still managed to cough up goods worth tens of thousands of US Dollars? A Jeep, no less?

If this isn’t a Child of Destiny, then what is?

When buying bins, you have to go for the fresh ones; the handlers haven’t had the chance to mess with them yet. That’s when it truly relies on your eyesight, knowledge, and luck.

But there I was, studying and analyzing for ages, and after spending 36,000 US Dollars, all I got was a bunch of inflatable dolls. To whom do I even complain?

Someone came over to ask, "Buddy, you selling this ride?"

"Sorry, I’m not planning to sell it. I’m keeping it for personal use," Allen Zhang glanced and knew right away it was a car dealer. Patting his vehicle, he proudly declared, "I really love this big guy. Who wouldn’t want to own a tough and well-built Jeep?"

Then he looked towards the life-reconsidering administrator, waved his hand and said, "Thanks for your service, you saved me 49,000 US Dollars. And got me such a great car."

He honked twice. Beep-beep! A direct to the face taunt.

The administrator held back from cursing his mother.

I was here first, I’ve been gazing at this warehouse door for half a year already!

The administrator squeezed out a smile, "It should be, it should be. It all comes down to luck after all."

While internally, he was cursing up a storm.

Allen Zhang took the Jeep for a spin around the block, let Sieg drive the decrepit old pickup, and left the Southern Port area, deciding to go to the vehicle registration office.

He logged onto the Los Angeles DMA official website, made a reservation in advance, and paid the vehicle registration fee of 15 US Dollars. Second-hand vehicle transfer required payment of both the registration fee and the license plate fee; the plate goes with the vehicle, it’s not individual bound. DMA requires a registration of the plate’s year and month, and transactions within 72 days are exempt from the license plate fee. If the transfer exceeds the limit, a 2% vehicle tax is due.

The previous RV and pickup truck’s plates were long overdue. By rights, the transfer should also require payment of the license plate fee, but Dominic had used a different method.

Because the owner had been deceased for too long, last century’s RV details had already been sealed in the archives for cancellation and scrapping. He only spent 15 US Dollars for a fresh registration and to reactivate the vehicle details, not using the old plate but directly registering and getting a new one.

Jason went straight to a scalper to take care of it for him; the transfer of the old pickup only cost him a few tens of US Dollars.

Those who returned unscathed from the suburbs, scared witless by suburban wolves and robbers, were approached but didn’t dare act rashly and cooperated fully, directly turning over a new leaf!

This off-road vehicle had one prior registration; it had all the necessary paperwork like insurance and the previous owner’s details. The condition was nearly new but it was registered as a second-hand vehicle. If Allen Zhang wanted to transfer it, he needed to pay 2% of the plate fee and required a notarized document from the owner, who seemed to have gone missing, making it inconvenient to print the title document.

He sent a message to Jason directly, asking him to find a scalper to handle it.

Jason: The scalper will charge 65 US Dollars to help with the transfer, including 15 US Dollars for the new registration fee and 50 US Dollars for the service fee.

Allen Zhang: ok.

This small sum is but a speck compared to the Jeep worth fifty thousand US Dollars.

Truly, a conscientious price.

Soon arriving at the vehicle registration office in Zone 5 of Los Angeles, he met up with the scalper, handed over 65 US Dollars in cash, and the scalper slipped in through the back door.

No need to queue. The guy went straight through the back, advanced the 15 US Dollars for Allen Zhang, re-registered the vehicle, and printed out the online bank payment receipt.

He picked a license plate number at random, waited for the signature, signed, then waited for the plate to print, and the transfer was registered.

The efficiency of the scalper was indeed high, mainly because there was no need to wait in line; the automatic machine could print the plates in a matter of minutes.

Taking the plate, he used the tools in the toolbox to attach it to the front and rear of the Jeep, and off he went, suavely taking his leave.

If you want things done, best to rely on such official people, not like those window sitters who can’t even bother to speak to you, utterly unprofessional.

"Finally got a car."

After so long on the West Coast, Allen Zhang finally owned an officially registered asset under his own name.

Sieg could only marvel at his astonishing luck, unable to comprehend but showing respect nonetheless.

"This old pickup might as well not be driven again, right? It’s falling apart, lacks the strength to even hit someone, and still dares to call itself a pickup? Isn’t the Jeep way nicer to drive than this clunker Ford!"

Immediately fancying the new over the old, Sieg planned to hand the pickup over to Jason to deal with. From now on, they only needed to travel in the General Sect Leader’s vehicle. The Jeep was excellent both for hauling and ramming!

If it had been this off-road vehicle that collided with Black earlier, would you still expect the fender to get flattened? A single tail-whip would be enough to knock the crap out of him, roll him into the dirt, and make him unrecognizable even to his own mother.
