Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 61: Damien is flirty
Chapter 61: Damien is flirty
Settling into her seat beside Damien, Aurora deliberately kept her gaze fixed on her food, avoiding the angry and hateful gazes directed her way.
As everyone started eating, the dining room fell into a quiet lull, and Aurora felt a sense of relief. She wished fervently that no arguments or fights would ruin their breakfast.
Suddenly, Laura turned to face Aurora, and with an unexpected question, Aurora choked on her food.
"How did you meet the Alpha?"
"I am sorry," Aurora quickly apologized, hastily wiping her mouth.
"How did you meet Alpha Damien?" Laura repeated, her tone carrying an edge of suspicion.
"I met him in the mansion," Aurora replied firmly, trying not to reveal too much.
"Obviously," Laura rolled her eyes, indicating that meeting the Alpha in the mansion was expected. However, her true interest lay in something else.
Aurora felt embarrassed and unsure of how to respond, as Sarah’s mother clearly held animosity towards her.
Of course, what mother would love her daughter’s perceived rival? Little did they know that Aurora was merely a breeder to Damien, with no significant standing in his life.
"I meant how you both met as sexual partners?" Laura emphasized, provoking a sour reaction from Damien.
Noticing the change in Damien’s expression, Sarah quickly intervened, scolding her mother, "There are things that shouldn’t be disclosed, mother. They are private matters."
"Private? She has no title that warrants that respect," Laura scoffed, making her disdain towards Aurora even more apparent.
"I am sorry, Aurora. I hope you understand that my mother is trying to protect my future with the Alpha," Sarah said with a bright smile that almost deceived Aurora. However, Aurora had been through a lot, and a simple smile wasn’t enough to sway her.
Aurora smiled in response and continued eating, trying to maintain a calm demeanor.
"We were expecting you tomorrow, how did you arrive early?" Theresa finally asked Laura, who had been eager to see the Alpha.
"My daughter was so excited to see the Alpha that we had to be here early. She is thrilled about her upcoming marriage," Laura answered with a smile, affectionately stroking Sarah’s hair.
"I am just so happy, and I look forward to receiving proper training to be a better Luna," blushed Sarah.
"You are absolutely lovely. Please, eat more," Theresa praised, impressed by Sarah’s gracious response. Dave, however, "You trust people easily," teased his mother for being too trusting of people, making Sarah feel uneasy about her act.
Trying to shift the attention back to Dave, Sarah decided to play her card.
"Brother-in-law, I was told you love black bolt wines, I got you the new made one." Gesturing toward her maid standing afar in the dining room, the maid came forward and dropped a wine beside Dave on the table.
"You are a drinker?" He was amazed and grabbed the wine to check it properly. He was going to order it once it was up for sale, who knew there was a faster hand than his?
"Have you no shame?" Enoch said and shook his head at how quickly Dave’s perspective changed after being offered a bribe.
"I have told you countless times, shame is for the weak ones." Dave replied and winked at Sarah as an appreciation for the gift.
Unbeknownst to the rest, Aurora was lost in her thoughts and accidentally choked on her food. Theresa and Damien offered her water, while Sarah concealed her annoyance, determined to continue her plan.
Theresa withdrew her hand to let Damien offer Aurora his own glass of water. Aurora received it shyly and thanked Damien.
"Are you thinking about tonight?" Damien flirtatiously teased Aurora in front of everyone, making her feel embarrassed. She wanted to call him shameless but held back since they were in public.
"I am definitely not thinking about tonight. I am fine," Aurora replied reservedly and politely.
"Then why are you blushing?" Damien continued to tease.
"I... it’s just the heat. I feel hot," she nervously fanned herself, lying to cover her embarrassment.
"You seem to have a close relationship with Alpha," Sarah remarked, attempting to divert attention back to herself. She disliked the focus on Aurora and Damien’s flirtatious banter.
"What?" Aurora asked, stunned by the sudden question. She quickly glanced at Damien, he looked like he wanted her to say they were close when they clearly weren’t. She took pleasure in knowing that he wanted to chase away Sarah, and she refused to give in to his game.
"No, we are not close. Alpha is just very friendly to everyone," Aurora clarified with a laugh.
"More like, annoying," Dave muttered.
"Ohh, he is?" Sarah repeated.
"Yes," Aurora answered, continuing to play along. She felt satisfied that she had managed to humiliate Damien publicly, even though she knew she might have to face repercussions in private.
Just then, a soft voice interrupted the atmosphere as someone approached the dining table.
"Oh my, did I miss breakfast?" The newcomer exclaimed, walking up to the table.
"Charlotte, you made it!" Sarah turned to greet the newcomer, hugging her warmly.
"Of course, you were always there for me, and I should be there for you too," Charlotte replied, reciprocating the hug.
"Ahh, Alpha," Charlotte greeted Damien with a sudden realization of her manners.
"Alpha, I would love to have an old friend as my company until after my wedding day," Sarah requested Damien’s permission.
"Sure," Damien replied nonchalantly.
Dave’s heart skipped a beat as he locked eyes with Charlotte. He was surprised to see her here and wondered how she knew Sarah.
It had been almost a month since their unexpected encounter, and he couldn’t fathom the reasons for her presence in the mansion. She seemed so warm and bright now that she wasn’t stalking him.
Charlotte smiled at Dave, and he awkwardly smiled back, feeling nervous about seeing her again. Her unexpected presence was unsettling, and he wondered if he would have to endure her company for two months. He had so many questions swirling in his mind about her, her boyfriend, and her upcoming marriage.
Unable to handle the situation, "Excuse me," Dave left the dining hall abruptly, leaving some people surprised except for those who knew the reason behind his sudden departure.
