Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 51: His past mistake
Chapter 51: His past mistake
Seeing her up close brought happiness to him, she seemed to be doing better than he expected. Unlike the past, where she was completely broken, now she looks happy and free.
It had been a moment of despair for both of them. He was willing to protect her even if it meant being separated from her, and confined behind bars until her last days. If it was the only way for her to be happy, then so be it.
As he saw her stagger, his instinct was to reach out and help, but reality struck him, and he realized she was forever out of his reach.
"Why did he have to appear," she muttered to herself, helping herself up. Her thoughts were muddled, and she desperately wanted to see his face. However, she scolded herself, remembering what he had done to her years ago. "No, Scarlet, don’t forget what that jerk did to you."
She chided herself for even considering accepting his help and resumed walking. However, after some time, she realized that the walk back to the mansion felt much longer than she expected. Perhaps it was because she wasn’t yet sober and couldn’t walk properly.
Lost in her thoughts, she suddenly stumbled upon three men smoking.
"I am sorry," she apologized, bowing her head in exhaustion from the long walk. The men acknowledged her apology, but their expressions seemed to suggest otherwise.
They exchanged meaningful smirks and approached Scarlet, forming a circle around her, making it difficult for her to escape.
One of the men got closer to her, dropping his cigarette near her face, and asked in a lewd manner, "Would you like to smoke, sexy?" His rotten teeth indicated his frequent smoking habit, further repulsing her.
Scarlet felt disgusted and spat at him, angering the man. "You wench! You should be lucky we haven’t raped you yet," he threatened, tossing his cigarette away.
Scarlet detested men who forced themselves on women, finding them the most despicable beings on earth.
Though she was not a victim of assault, she knew those who had experienced it and they never remained the same.
She might be be drunk but she wouldn’t allow these lowly men to take advantage of her.
"Rape my foot, leave before I injure you," she retorted, trying to sound strong, but her attempt to land a blow at him failed as he easily dodged it.
"Opps," she whispered and took a step backwards but she only met with one of the men body, as they had already circled her.
The men laughed at her failed attempt and closed in on her.
"I would enjoy having you under me tonight. I love stubborn women, they taste better," one of them said, grabbing her chin in a lustful manner, while the others moved to carry out his desires.
However, a voice interrupted them, telling them to let her go. It was Enoch, who dared to stand against them.
"What are you, her bodyguard?" The leader mockingly asked Enoch.
Enoch revealed he was the Alpha’s Beta, but the leader was unfazed and continued to be arrogant.
"Why would a Beta guard a worthless woman?" The leader sneered.
Enoch’s fists clenched upon hearing the leader insult Scarlet in such a manner. He decided to get her home safely first and deal with the leader later.
"I would love to have her," Enoch suggested, trying to protect Scarlet from further harm.
"We could share her," the leader replied, moving closer to Scarlet, but Enoch swiftly threw him away before his hand could reach her.
The lackeys retreated, knowing they couldn’t defeat the Alpha’s Beta, and fled the scene.
Scarlet laughed at their cowardice, amused by how strong they acted before.
Enoch approached her with determination, understanding that if he didn’t intervene, they might encounter more drunk individuals on the way to the mansion.
"It’s my duty to keep you safe. Aurora wouldn’t want to see you injured tomorrow morning. I have no more time to waste, get on my back," Enoch urged her to climb onto his back for safety. Instead, she kicked him and tried to walk away.
However, knowing words wouldn’t be enough, Enoch swiftly carried her on his back against her wishes.
"Hey, do you have a death wish!" Scarlet yelled at him while on his back, but she stopped struggling like she did at the hall.
"Kill me when you are back at the mansion safely," he replied, secretly smiling at her stubbornness.
She was still the same Scarlet he knew, the same woman he couldn’t resist in the past.
Scarlet pretended not to want his help, but after a while, she leaned against his back and fell asleep.
"Are you asleep?" He asked when he didn’t feel her moving again. He realized she had fallen fast asleep.
Upon reaching the mansion, he gently helped her to her room and laid her on the bed.
"I know I should be keeping my distance, but just for tonight, let me be with you," he whispered while tucking her into bed, gazing at her face earnestly.
He had left five years ago, believing that keeping his distance was the only solution. Looking back, he realized it wasn’t the best choice. Even though she appeared happy and free, she was still hurting, as he could see in her lingering hatred towards him.
He caressed her cheeks gently, hoping that somehow, he could ease her pain.
As he was about to leave her side, she held his wrist and pulled him closer to her on the bed.
"I am cold," she muttered, drawing him near.
"Let me get you a blanket," he offered, but she didn’t reply. He worried about staying in such an intimate position with her. What if she became completely sober and misunderstood the situation when, in reality, she was the one who refused to let him go?
He attempted to release himself, but she wouldn’t let him be.
Finally, he decided to stay like that for a while, until she released him.
