Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 43: Therapy Session
Chapter 43: Therapy Session
"Stay silent until I permit you to speak," he commanded, his back turned to her. The anger emanating from him was palpable from where she stood.
All she wanted was to make things easier for him. Couldn’t he see the positive intention behind her actions?
"I merely wanted to lessen your burden," she retorted, standing firm in her words. Why did she have to be silent until he deemed it appropriate?
"What burden?" He bellowed at her, causing her to flinch in terror. He turned to face her, his eyes emitting a golden hue that signified his disapproval of her actions.
She felt frightened, she had never seen him in such a state. She grew scared and started moving backward, she had never been so harshly scolded by him.
"I... She wouldn’t want to see another woman with her man. I didn’t want to be the obstacle between you two," she confessed, avoiding eye contact out of fear.
"It’s my decision to determine what constitutes an obstacle. Do not overstep your boundaries and focus on your role as a breeder," his voice was harsh as he lectured her.
She had clearly exceeded her limits. It dawned on her that she meant nothing more to him than a mere tool, one he would discard once he was done with her.
"I should have known my place. I apologize for trying to help," she said, her spirit crushed.
"Don’t try to help, just leave!" he ordered.
Aurora promptly exited his room without looking back, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I knew you were with..." Scarlet’s words trailed off as she noticed Aurora’s teary eyes. Concerned, she moved closer to her friend to find out what had happened.
She had come to pick up Aurora after receiving a grant from Theresa. Getting to Aurora’s room, she couldn’t find her and after calculating one or two, she guessed Aurora was with Damien. However, Aurora’s state didn’t look like things went out well in Damien’s room.
"I am being foolish," Aurora sobbed and embraced Scarlet.
"What happened?" Scarlet asked, gently patting her back, her anger rising at the thought of Damien making Aurora cry.
"He did this right, I will be right back." Scarlet said, releasing Aurora from her embrace to go confront Damien. But Aurora was quick to stop her by grabbing her wrist before she could proceed further.
"He treated me poorly, but don’t do anything, please," Aurora pleaded, gripping Scarlet’s wrist tighter to stop her from intervening.
"Don’t do it. I am the one at fault, not him," she implored, but Scarlet was so angry that she couldn’t fathom Aurora defending him.
"What did he do to you? And why are you defending him?" Scarlet asked, pulling away her hand in frustration. Was Aurora infatuated by him? Oh no, this was what she didn’t want. Damien was a jerk who didn’t deserve someone’s love, he was better off dying lonely.
"I just don’t want things to escalate. Let’s not complicate matters," Aurora begged, attempting to dissuade Scarlet from taking action.
"Could it be..." Scarlet began to say, but Aurora cut her off.
"I don’t have feelings for him. I know what I am doing, so let it be," Aurora stated firmly. Scarlet sighed, understanding that Aurora had her reasons.
"Enough tears. Let’s go have some fun," Scarlet said, wiping away Aurora’s tears and leading her away from the corridor.
Aurora felt better as she followed Scarlet, although she had no idea where they were going.
"Theresa!" Aurora realized they were heading to see Theresa. She found Theresa sitting alone in a garden, enjoying the morning sunlight while sipping tea. Aurora sensed a hint of loneliness in her eyes, Theresa truly longed for a grandchild.
The thought of carrying Damien’s baby made Aurora blush. The child was going to be Theresa’s grandchild, the one she so longed for.
Sooner or later, she would be pregnant with his child. But first, she needed to find a way to control her phobia for intimacy.
"You are here. Come over here," Theresa greeted them happily, standing up to assist them with their seats.
"Yes, I have brought her," Scarlet replied, smiling at Aurora, who returned the smile.
"So what is the problem, Aura?" Theresa asked, giving Aurora a nickname. Aurora loved the sound of it, it was a shorter version of her name.
Before Aurora could explain, Theresa interjected, having already heard the details from Scarlet.
"Scarlet gave me the mini details, let’s go direct." Scarlet seemed more invested in Aurora’s problem than she was. Was she trying to help Aurora get rid of Damien? Scarlet seemed to despise him.
"I have an intimacy phobia, I could barely breathe the last time we were so close," Aurora explained, her face contorting with discomfort at the memory.
"Hmm, have you been with a man before this new man?" Theresa inquired seriously, surprising Aurora. How did she know? It was whenever she thought of her past with Lucas that her phobia resurfaced.
"Y...yes, but we were not intimate. We barely even touched each other," she answered truthfully.
"Then you are being triggered by a past trauma or a hurtful past," Theresa diagnosed, catching Aurora off guard. How did she figure that out? It was indeed Lucas’s memory that haunted her whenever she got close to Damien.
"What can I do to overcome it?" Aurora asked, willing to do whatever it took as per Theresa’s advice.
"The choice is yours. Are you ready to let go of the past?" Theresa questioned.
Late into the night, Aurora struggled to sleep after the conversation with Theresa earlier in the day. How could she let go of the past when she planned to seek revenge? She could never forget or forgive Lucas and his mother for what they had done to her.
All she wanted was a peaceful life with her mate. Why did Lucas’s mother have to ruin everything? She couldn’t forget the accusation that led to the death of her parents. Was it because she wasn’t a werewolf?
