Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 29: What is she to him?
Chapter 29: What is she to him?
Damien exited the room, leaving Aurora to cry to her heart’s content. What was happening to her? Why was she allowing her determination to crumble after holding it steadfast for five years?
"You are Aurora," she reassured herself, wiping away her tears and preparing to sleep. Her growling stomach reminded her that she hadn’t eaten dinner. She felt too lazy to get up, and there was a possibility of running into Damien if she left the room.
She had no desire to see his face for the rest of the night, and he had already instructed her to stay in his room.
Starting tomorrow morning, she would be a proper breeder, no more childish emotions to distract her. If he wanted to be harsh, she could be just as ruthless.
Calming herself, she exhaled her worries and drifted off to sleep.
The following morning, a faint voice hovered over Aurora, attempting to wake her up. Aurora mumbled incoherent words and pushed away the person disturbing her sleep.
"Ahhh," finally regaining her senses, she bolted out of bed and headed towards the door to cook. She was supposed to be in the kitchen preparing breakfast for the mansion. Theresa would be furious if she found out Aurora was still sleeping.
"Miss Aurora, we were instructed to get you ready for breakfast. We have twenty minutes to prepare you," one of the maids in the room grabbed her wrist, revealing this information and preventing her from taking another step.
Aurora blinked twice and muttered an "ohh" when she realized her situation. She was now a breeder and would no longer be working in the kitchen.
She cleared her throat and hugged herself when she saw that she was still in her undergarments.
"Let’s get you washed first," the maid said, smiling warmly at her, and began leading her towards the bathroom.
The maids were gentle and skilled as they prepared her, and she relished every moment of their care. If things hadn’t gone wrong five years ago, this would have been her daily privilege as Luna.
She slapped her cheeks lightly and shook off the thoughts, scolding herself for dwelling on the past. It was time to confront her problems head-on and seek justice for her parents’ deaths.
The maids applied a light, yet noticeable, makeup that made her marvel at herself. She hadn’t worn makeup in years and could barely recognize herself. They styled her hair into a ponytail with small bangs adorning her sides.
"What did you do?" She asked as she moved closer to the mirror, mouth agape in shock. She loved what she saw and burst into laughter, making the maids slightly uncomfortable.
They could see that she liked their work, but why was she acting so strange?
"I want the blue one, no, wait, the red!" The maids continued to present different gowns, making it difficult for her to choose.
Since she was being pampered as the future mother of the heir, it was only right that she enjoyed these privileges. After all, the future was uncertain.
She chuckled mischievously at the thought of portraying a wealthy woman and a wife. Well, as he claimed to be her husband, she supposed she was his wife.
"Alright, I will go with this one. I am too skinny for that," the maids finally breathed a sigh of relief when she made her choice.
"We have spent more time than we were given. Let’s go before your Alpha becomes enraged," the maids didn’t respond to her words, and she laughed them off. They could report her for all she cared, there was nothing he could do about it.
She flipped her bangs arrogantly and walked out of the room with her head held high.
"Has she gone mad?" One of the passing maids murmured to another, watching Aurora stride like a woman possessed.
From being a chef to a breeder, quite the promotion. She suddenly halted when the dining room came into view from the staircase. She took a few steps back, contemplating what to say when she entered.
To think she was now apprehensive about facing them just because she occupied a different position. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she rehearsed her words.
"Oh my, is this my best friend?" Scarlet exclaimed, approaching Aurora with astonishment. She spotted someone wearing an extravagant blue gown with backless openings and wondered who it was.
As she drew closer, Scarlet noticed the unique white hair that only Aurora possessed in the pack. It was what had made her stand out among the other maids when she started working at the mansion.
"You are not helping the situation," Aurora grumbled, nearly punching the wall if Scarlet hadn’t stopped her in time.
"I worried for nothing. Is it them?" Scarlet inquired, pointing towards the dining table. Aurora nodded in response, and Scarlet chuckled.
"You are suddenly afraid to face them just because you are in a different position. Oh dear, you are now the Alpha’s possession, you have power now. Stop fidgeting and go show them who’s boss," Scarlet encouraged her, providing words of courage.
Strangely, Aurora always felt better when Scarlet was around.
"Go get them, sexy!" Scarlet teased, nudging her.
Taking her best friend’s advice, Aurora ascended the stairs gracefully in her heels, causing everyone to turn and observe the source of the noise. She felt so shy that she wished to turn back.
Dave widened his eyes upon catching sight of his favorite ’meal,’ something he had been obsessed with for years, sexy women.
"Is this a surprise gift for me? I love you, brother," Dave said, reaching out his hands to help Aurora down the stairs.
Aurora hesitated, but ultimately accepted his assistance as they walked towards the dining table together.
"You look strangely familiar, but who cares? I mistook our chef for one of my past flings," Dave started showering her with compliments and helped her pull out a chair next to Damien’s, on his left side, for her to sit.
"Bad news for you, she used to be our chef," Enoch interjected, shattering Dave’s hopes. He couldn’t believe his eyes and sat down to observe her more closely.
"Ahh!" he exclaimed when he finally recognized her. Why was she dressed so elegantly? Why did she look so different?
"How did this happen? You..." he stammered, at a loss for words.
"Why did it take you so long to get ready? Are you meeting a particular friend today?"
