Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 26: Making explanations

Chapter 26: Making explanations

"Alpha!" Aurora exclaimed, her astonishment evident as she instinctively pushed David away. What on earth was Damien doing here?

"This is nothing, David is just a friend," she tried to explain the situation, but Damien seemed solely focused on David, paying no attention to Aurora. Determined to capture his attention, she stepped closer to Damien and obstructed his view.

"Alpha..." she trailed off as David abruptly pulled her to his side, shielding her behind him.

"David, I have to leave now. I will explain everything later, okay?" Aurora urged, attempting to remove her hand from his grip, but he held onto her tightly, refusing to let go. She glanced between Damien and David, realizing that if no one intervened, they might end up in a dangerous confrontation.

How could she possibly explain the situation if David wouldn’t release her and acted possessive and jealous? She anticipated insults from Damien, but to her surprise, his next words shocked her.

"Enoch, where else do I need to check?" Damien asked, his gaze still fixed on David, clearly distracted.

"Just a few more lanes, and we will be done for this week," Enoch responded, taking the lead. Damien shot him a sidelong glance before they started moving. Finally released from David’s grip, he sighed and apologized, "I am sorry."

"Why did you do that? He’s going to misunderstand the situation!" she exclaimed, frustration seeping into her voice. Her day had taken a turn for the worse, with something always there to ruin it.

"Why do you care if he does? He’s your Alpha, not your husband. Don’t you have the right to do whatever you want?" David grew angry and shouted back at her. Why was she acting as though he would harm her for doing as she pleased?

"This won’t do. I have to go," Aurora vowed, determined to deal with David’s tantrum later. She hurried in the direction Damien had gone, but he had vanished. She searched throughout the town, but there was no sign of him. It was as if he had disappeared into thin air.

Just as she was about to give up and return to the mansion, she spotted Damien’s Beta, Enoch, standing outside a restaurant as though standing guard.

Relieved to have found Damien, she ran toward him but accidentally collided with a cartwheel, causing her to stumble backward. As she sat up, she noticed a deep scratch on her knee, which had left a bloodstain on her gown.

"Watch where you are going, miss!" The man pushing the cartwheel showed no remorse for her injury and hissed at her before pushing his wheel away.

Following her gaze to where Enoch stood, Aurora spotted Damien exiting the restaurant, and they were on the move. Not wanting to waste any more time, she began leaping toward him and called out his name when she was within reach.

Enoch turned, and when he saw Aurora leaping toward them with a bloodstained gown and an injured knee, he couldn’t believe she was still trying to explain things to Damien while in such a condition.

"Alpha!" she yelled when she was just two feet away, standing still, waiting for him to acknowledge her. He slowly turned his attention to her, and she breathed a sigh of relief when he didn’t ignore her.

"I am sorry you witnessed that, but it’s not what you think. David is my..." she started, but Damien interrupted her and directed his gaze toward the bloodstain on her gown.

"I never asked for an explanation," he said before turning to face Enoch, who nodded, understanding what was required of him.

As Damien began to walk away, Aurora quickly spoke up. "So why do you look angry?" she asked.

He didn’t answer and continued walking. Enoch moved closer to her, offering to help, but she stopped him, insisting that she could take care of herself.

If Damien didn’t want to listen to her, then she could ignore him as well. Enoch was torn between obeying Damien’s orders and letting her be.

"I shouldn’t have left David," she said angrily as she leaped away, finding her way back to the mansion. He was the reason she could hardly breathe in the mansion, and he was still behaving like a jerk even when she made efforts.

"I guess your plan must have failed!" David suddenly appeared from behind her, and she was relieved to see him not angry at her, unlike that rude man.

"It did fail," she regretfully admitted, looking down at her bruised knee. Even with the painful wound, all she could think about was explaining things to Damien, but he didn’t care. It was just a mere contract. She didn’t have to try so hard when the other party didn’t care.

David made her sit on a bench beside a moving stall and tended to her wound. "Ahh!" she screamed as he tightened the rope around her knee to stop the bleeding.

"What did you get in return for this bruised knee?" David asked, anger evident in his voice. What kind of man would watch a distressed lady and not offer help?

"It’s a long story, and I can’t tell you, but trust me, I am trying to make things work," she explained, feeling apologetic for leaving David behind. How could she have known he would act like a jerk?

David looked into her eyes and began, "During the five years I have known you, you were always sharp and straightforward. At first, I thought it was because you were healing from a past trauma, but it seemed more like you were trying to be strong for a greater purpose," he paused, allowing his words to sink in and ensuring she was following him.

"My point is, no matter what’s going on between you and the Alpha, don’t let it change who you are or make you sad. He’s the one who doesn’t realize the effort you are putting in. If things get worse, I will hide you in my home," he added the last part as a joke.

Aurora felt relieved after hearing his words and resolved to act upon David’s advice. Why had she forgotten her purpose and allowed Damien to distract her?

It was time to set things right, and she knew exactly how to do that. Damien could go to hell for all she cared. Her goal was more important.

She would find a way to leave the pack, even if she was already pregnant. Once she had accomplished her plans, she would bring back their child.

"Aurora!" It was Scarlet.
