Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 25: Unfortunate Scene

Chapter 25: Unfortunate Scene

Dave observed her retreating figure as she left him behind on the balcony. She didn’t care about his life anymore, and in his opinion, it was for the best.

"Dave, there you are," Alpha Nureo entered the balcony, appearing relieved as if he had been searching for Dave.

"Alpha Nureo, congratulations on your brother’s wedding," Dave greeted him, composing himself.

"Thank you for coming. Have you seen Dante?" Nureo inquired.

"Yes, I saw him and..." Dave trailed off, realizing he couldn’t mention Charlotte’s name anymore.

Alpha Nureo raised an eyebrow questioningly at Dave and smiled when he understood what Dave couldn’t say.

"I know you must be thrilled that my sister is no longer a source of concern for you. Ah, she’s getting married soon, and I will make sure she invites you," Alpha Nureo said, sincerity evident on his face.

Dave desperately wanted to leave the wedding party and find some peace for his overwhelmed mind.

"Your guest room is ready. Let me show you to your room," Alpha Nureo offered, and Dave agreed, realizing he couldn’t just leave the party with the dinner still to come.

Alpha Nureo led Dave to a guest room and left him to rest. However, Dave couldn’t stop thinking about Charlotte, so he decided to leave his room and find a lady to distract himself from the troubling emotions.

As he walked through the corridor, he coincidentally stumbled upon Charlotte and Ronald sharing a passionate kiss in a corner.

His muscles tensed, and his eyes flickered with a hint of anger. Why did he have to witness such a scene, something he never thought he would see?

"Ahh, Dave," Ronald exclaimed in surprise upon seeing Dave standing a few steps away from them. When Dave met Charlotte’s gaze, she didn’t appear concerned that he might misunderstand.

Without wasting any more time, he left Alpha Nureo’s pack and headed toward his own. He couldn’t hold it in any longer, he needed to escape the party.

Back at the mansion, Damien grew furious as Aurora had yet to return. She had dared to escape to avoid having his child. Why was she always so hesitant about being with him? Calling her would make him seem like he was worried, and again she didn’t have a phone. Why were things out of his control? He had never been so concerned as he was now.

"It’s time to visit the pack hospital," Enoch reminded Damien, placing a tablet with his upcoming schedules in front of him.

Damien was too angry to read through his schedule. Instead, he grabbed his coat and stormed out of his room.

Enoch sensed something was wrong, but he knew better than to inquire until Damien was ready to talk. They left the mansion and soon arrived at the pack’s hospital.

"Welcome, Alpha," the head doctor and his assistants were already waiting outside, eagerly anticipating their Alpha’s arrival. It had been a long time since he had visited the hospital, and whenever he did, they had the opportunity to make requests that were often granted.

They were pleased to see him, except Damien wasn’t in the best mood to receive their greetings. His anger was directed at a particular person.

Damien raised an eyebrow at the head doctor, who took a moment to understand what Damien meant.

"Follow me," the head doctor hurriedly led Damien into the hospital, giving him a tour.

As they walked around the hospital, Damien couldn’t stop thinking about Aurora and where she might be. If she was somewhere within the pack’s vicinity, Enoch could bring her back.

However, he knew she was capable of protecting herself. His fists clenched as he contemplated what he should do without revealing his worries.

The head doctor widened his eyes at Damien’s clenched fists, assuming the Alpha was angry with him.

"Alpha, it’s alright if you don’t want us to retrieve the Aspirator. We could..." the head doctor started, but Damien interrupted, "Get everything you need."

The head doctor was relieved that Damien wasn’t angry with him. He continued the tour, and as they progressed, Damien granted all their requests, surprising everyone. He usually fulfilled their requests, but not every single one. It was as if he didn’t care about the expenses and instructed them to acquire everything.

Enoch, aware that Damien’s mind was elsewhere, managed to fit all the requests into the pack’s budget. He privately communicated with one of Damien’s assistants and instructed, "Search for Aurora, the mansion’s chef."

"Aurora? She’s currently at the town square playing with children," the assistant promptly reported.

"Children?" Enoch found it amusing but chose not to relay the information to Damien. It would only distract him further.

"Should we bring her back?" The assistant asked, but Enoch quickly dismissed the idea. What could he say to Damien if he brought her back? Besides, intervening too soon might not be wise.

"What’s next?" Damien inquired once the hospital tour was over.

"A weekly tour around the pack," Enoch informed him, referring to Damien’s schedule written on the list.

"Should I cancel it?" Seeing the hesitation on Damien’s face, Enoch inquired.

Though Damien didn’t respond to Enoch’s suggestion, Enoch knew he didn’t want to cancel it yet. So he nodded his head and began taking him around the pack.

Meanwhile, at the town square, Aurora had pleaded with the person in charge of kitchen errands to switch shifts with her. Tonight was going to be a nightmare for her, so she could as well enjoy her day before the storm. No one knew what the future held.

She needed a break from the mansion, things had become overwhelming since her failed escape. All she wanted was to avenge her parents’ deaths so they could rest in peace. Why did everything suddenly seem to go wrong?

If there was one place where she could momentarily forget her sorrows, it was among the innocent children gathered at the town square.

She was acquainted with the kids there and had been spending time with them since leaving the mansion.

"Aurora, why are you here, is the Alpha not treating you well?" A small kid around the age of five years walked up to Aurora and asked. It seemed like kids were more observant than most adults.

If only she could say yes to that question but what right does she have to complain?

"We would fight for you. Team Phoenix assemble!" Another kid who overheard their conversations came forward and yelled at his friends to come together, so they could fight for Aurora.

"Yes, let’s go fight," Aurora decided to play along with them and she started swinging their paper swords with them. Children were so naive that you could get lost in their company if you allowed yourself to.

They taught her how to knit a cap and make a paper crown, distracting her from her troubles.

"Aurora, what a pleasant surprise!" a man in his late twenties called out, surprised to see Aurora in the town square, something out of the ordinary.

"David, how have you been?" Aurora was delighted to see a friend she hadn’t encountered in a while, and she stood up to greet him warmly.

"Never being better," not knowing what to say, she lied and laughed it off but David didn’t look convinced.

"So why do you look like shit?" He didn’t bother concealing his worries, and asked.

"It is from playing with the kids," she quickly chipped in and pointed at the kids.

"Noo, Alpha has not been treating her well. She is lying," the kid from earlier exposed her lies and shook his head rebukingly at Aurora for lying.

It was so funny that Aurora couldn’t help but to laugh, children behaving like adults was the most cute thing to witness.

David bent to the kid’s height and played with his hair playfully, "Big aunty is lying about her troubles, right?" He asked and the kid nodded in response.

"I am really fine, I just made them believe that so we could play." Aurora was quick to respond, assuring him.

"I suppose I could believe you but you have to accompany me today. It’s not everyday we see your face outside the mansion," he requested hoping she would agree. Aurora glanced at the direction toward the mansion and was hesitant about it.

She had already been gone for the whole morning, what if she was needed at the mansion? Right, she could find an excuse for Theresa, after all she wasn’t going to flog her, would she?

"Alright," she agreed.

David, unaware of the contract Aurora had signed, leaned forward to hug her as close friends would.

Aurora, completely forgetting that she wasn’t supposed to hug a man, reciprocated the gesture and smiled in his embrace. Leaving the mansion to find solace had been a good decision.

"I see you are having a great time," just then, Damien, who was touring the pack’s town, coincidentally stumbled upon the unfortunate scene, as he described it.
