Chapter 23: New Charlotte

Damien dismissed the topic, and Enoch finally left to attend to his duties.

The following morning, breakfast was served by Aurora’s assistant, which piqued Damien’s curiosity about her whereabouts. Was she already making plans to escape, or had she already managed to escape?

"What about your chef?" He asked the maid who was serving him.

"She had an errand to run at the market, so she left early," the maid replied, then left his side to serve others at the dining table.

Dave was dressed in a royal blue suit with a turquoise blue tie, his hair neatly combed to the side, giving him a more business-like appearance. The maids couldn’t help but drool over him as they served him. They had never seen him in such a serious outfit before.

Among the two of them, Dave was the playful one who loved wearing clothes that exposed his chest or abs. He had a talent for seducing women, and many females in the pack desired to spend a night with him, even if it was just a one-night affair.

"Looking all professional this morning, aren’t we?" Enoch teased him, but Dave didn’t spare them a glance and kept his eyes glued to his phone.

"Alright, time to go," Dave declared, ready to leave the mansion. The wedding was something he was still hesitant about attending, but they couldn’t decline the invitation.

"Take it easy on Charlotte," Theresa urged, worrying about her son attending the wedding alone.

"She should be the one taking it easy on me," Dave scoffed, then angrily stormed out of the mansion to get into the car.

Soon enough, they arrived at the wedding party of Alpha Nureo’s brother, Dante. The halls were already filled with people eagerly awaiting the joyous occasion.

Humans were present as well, as Dante’s mate was a human girl. It was a rare union that brought humans and werewolves together to celebrate. Thanks to the bond between humans and werewolves, society had found a certain level of stability.

Humans were learning to tolerate werewolves, and werewolves were adapting to human norms.

It appeared that Dave had overdressed, as most men didn’t bother with formal attire. He unbuttoned his suit, allowing his white shirt to be seen.

"Isn’t that Dave? Where’s the Alpha?" Murmurs spread through the crowd as he made his way, seeking a glass of alcohol for himself.

"What is that playboy doing here?" Angry voices of women who he had rejected for sex could be heard.

He wasn’t a cheap commodity. They had to meet his standards to have a chance with him, even if it was just for one night. Worthless she-wolves, he inwardly cursed.

"Thank you," he gestured, taking a glass of wine from a server’s tray.

He spotted Dante a few steps away, greeting human guests who had come to celebrate with him. They must have already held the werewolf wedding, which typically took place at night. Dave preferred it to human weddings.

Since the bride was human, it was only natural for them to have a human wedding.

"Alright, everyone, the wedding is starting now. Please take your seats," the MC announced, clanking a spoon against his glass to gain the attention of the noisy crowd.

The wedding ceremony began, and it was time for the groom and bride to exchange their vows. Dave glanced at Charlotte, who looked mature in her simple blue gown. He couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she had become over the years. However, he still felt repulsed by her.

"To never leave you and be a faithful wife..." they exchanged their vows, and the wedding concluded almost as quickly as it had begun.

Dave stepped forward to congratulate the newlyweds and was relieved to find that Charlotte was no longer by Dante’s side.

"Dante, congratulations on your wedding. You look beautiful. If only I could snatch you away from him," Dave jokingly remarked, and they both laughed at his playful words.

"You would have to put in more effort to snatch my beauty away," Dante playfully responded, creating a lively atmosphere.

"My brother couldn’t make it, so I had to fill in for him," Dave lied, hoping Dante would believe it.

"He told me he was punishing you, so you had to come instead," Dante said, causing Dave to almost choke on his drink. Why did Damien have to tell the truth? Was he trying to destroy Dave’s dignity?

’Motherfucker,’ Dave cursed inwardly, while Dante continued laughing.

"I know it’s about my sister, but you have nothing to worry about," Dante assured him, but Dave wasn’t convinced. Charlotte was an obsessed maniac, and there was a high possibility that she would force herself onto him tonight.

"It’s fine. Congratulations again," Dave said as he congratulated the newlyweds. Just as he did, another couple approached to greet the newlyweds, so Dave had to excuse himself.

He needed something to calm his nerves, and fortunately, he spotted an attractive woman standing alone with a drink in her hand. Taking it as a blessing from Selena, the goddess, he approached her, employing his charms that had made women fall at his feet.

"Hey, sexy. Would you like to spend the rest of the night with me?" He asked, winking at her.

The woman smiled and replied, "It depends on what you are worth," before winking back at him.

Dave was determined to impress her, as he admired women who were direct about their desires.

"How about you find out in my embrace?" He extended his hand to hold hers, and she dropped her hand into his palm.

He began leading her away to find a guest room, but his path was suddenly blocked by a burly man who seemed angry with him.

"You have got the wrong man," Dave said, although he knew he had never seen the man before. Yet, he sensed that something was wrong when the man’s gaze fell upon the lady he was holding.

"What are you doing here, cheater?" The woman suddenly became furious and stepped forward to confront the man.

"Let’s go," the man said, forcefully trying to drag the woman out of the hall.

Dave intervened, yanking the woman’s hand out of the man’s grip. No one had the right to steal his catch, he had claimed her first.

The man turned to face Dave and landed a harsh blow on Dave’s face.

"Urgh!"
