"Why do you keep neglecting me?" Lucas was now back in the room allocated to him and Juliet, but Juliet was furious and demanded an explanation. Since he saw Alpha Damien’s fiancée, he has been acting weird and for some reason, his fiancée was familiar.

"Stop overthinking, the pregnancy is making you overthink." He advised while he drank from the wine in the glass cup.

"I wouldn’t have overthink if you hadn’t embarrassed me in front of everyone," she retorted, coming to stand in front of him.

"That’s not an excuse to be unreasonable, give me a break!" Ignoring her, he said and went to stand by the window, his thoughts wandering as he couldn’t stop thinking about Aurora. He had thought of her after some months of losing her, he never expected her to be mated to Alpha Damien.

Could one be destined with two mates? How was it even possible that Damien announced her as his mate? Was Aurora fooling him just like he fooled him? But, she was truly his mate and he found out that his mother and Juliet accused Aurora.

It was too late when he found out, so he had no choice but to let Juliet keep on staying by his side, to avoid losing his position. If Aurora was also trying to get power by deceiving Damien, then he needed to stop her.

By doing so, he needs to find out how she got into Damien’s heart and captured his attention. Then he was going to find a way to take her back to his pack and crown her as his true Luna, how did he not think of this solution before?

"Lucas?" Softly, Juliet called when she grew tired of nagging him.

"What?" He answered.

"Can we leave this pack today? I am not comfortable being in this pack because of my baby," she demanded but he scoffed and said, "I will send you back if you wish, I have unfinished business here."

"But..." cutting her off, he repeated, "I will send you back if you wish, don’t annoy me, Juliet." And walked out of their room.

If he wasn’t ashamed to acknowledge his mistakes, he would have discarded her long ago. She wouldn’t stop pestering him and has refused to know her place, despite deceiving him.

"Hey," as he walked through the mansion, he called after a maid passing by and gestured for her to move close to him. After making sure there was no sign of Damien or Aurora, he parted his mouth to speak, "Follow me to the back of the mansion, I have questions for you." Ordering, that scared the maid, making her wonder if he wanted to have sex with her.

"Al...pha, there are better women in town that can satisfy you. I assure you that I am an expired product," she quickly went to her knees and started pleading, which confused Lucas. What the hell was she talking about? He didn’t mention wanting to sleep with her, why was she begging him?

"I am not sleeping with you, I truly have questions to ask you." He said, clarifying, but she only grew scared.

"Then why do we have to go back to talk, when we can say it here? Pardon my rudeness Alpha." She inquired, causing Lucas to run his hands through his hair frustratedly.

"The questions are confidential," not wanting to divulge his reason, he said.

"I am just a lowly servant in this mansion, why would I have answers to confidential questions?" Making things hard, she kept on questioning him until he was forced to haul a slap across her face in anger.

"Ahhh," she screamed and held onto her cheek, not expecting the sudden slap.

"Please spare me!!" She started pleading and crawled away from him. She can’t run away as he was a guest and an Alpha guest at that. Even if she had a valid point for disobeying him, who would listen to a servant’s word over an Alpha’s?

"You seem to have a problem with this maid, Alpha Lucas?" Coming out from a corner was no other than Scarlet, she was wearing an amusing smile.

"And who are you?" Irritated by her smile, he asked.

"The Beta of this pack’s mate, but also a worker in this mansion." She introduced herself with a smile still plastered to her face.

"I see, this maid disobeyed me by refusing to follow me out of the mansion to get something in town." Seeing that she was an important person, he changed the narrative and reported her.

"Is that true? Why wouldn’t you listen to Alpha Lucas?" Facing the crying maid, she asked.

"I...He..." not knowing if to say the truth or not, she started but couldn’t find the courage to talk. Scarlet was a nice person in the mansion but would she save her against this wicked Alpha?

"Such a detestable maid, she can’t even form proper words. I wonder what type of servants Damien nurtures," humphing, he chastised and acted as if he was annoyed.

"I am sorry she ruined your mood today Alpha Lucas, let me make it up to you by following you into town. What do you think?" She offered.

Darting his gaze over her, Lucas contemplated making her his information device or just letting things go. But he didn’t have time to waste in this pack, and could as well risk his image this once. What could go wrong even if she reported him to the beta? Damien wouldn’t want to wage war against his pack now, so he would have to overlook it.

"Alright," he agreed and Scarlet stretched out her hands for him, as a gesture to leave with her.

"You can retire for today." Winking at the maid with an assuring smile, she said and walked away.

"So Miss?" As they toured the town, Lucas turned to face Scarlet and asked.

"Scarlet, Miss Scarlet," she answered and he nodded in approval.

"Miss Scarlet, how well do you know Miss Aurora, your Alpha’s mate?" Going straight to the point, he asked.

Acting indifferent, Scarlet said, "She is a good woman and would make a fine Luna. I know that much about her," making her answer polite.

"What if I tell you she has a mate and it is not Alpha Damien?"
