Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 170: Torn dress
Chapter 170: Torn dress
Everywhere was noisy, as people were going around arranging, and cleaning up the mansion for the guests who were going to arrive that day. Normally, guests arrive a day or two days to any event in a werewolf’s pack. But it was just an introduction, and announcement, they didn’t have to arrive early.
If it was a wedding or collaboration within the packs, it would have been a different matter. The new hires were so excited to be preparing a little for their arrival. Thankfully, the new pack house was now ready for use, they only needed their Apha to declare it open, and they would be free from too many chores.
"I want every room cleaned up, not even a speck of dust, or everyone in charge would be punished regardless of the perpetrator," Theresa warned, her hands filled with different things as she oversaw the arrangements in the mansion. These were times she truly felt like a mistress of the mansion, she enjoyed working and catering for guests.
When she married Damien’s father, he would always leave her in charge of things like these and she fell in love with the job.
Naturally, an Alpha’s mother shouldn’t be in charge of catering for the house, but she didn’t want to rot away like those other she-wolves, so she begged Damien to let her handle it. Thankfully, Damien was still lenient with her back then so he agreed.
"Theresa, we are out of fragments,"
"Theresa, the first room next to the corridor has an issue with its wardrobe,"
"Theresa, we need more flour,"
"Theresa...."
"Enough," she yelled, both excited and anxious to have problems to settle. She loves having problems, it makes her feel relevant. Those weren’t even real problems, she would have them solved within minutes.
"Okay, three of you would follow me to the market. You, you and you, write down all that we have in the kitchen within five minutes, and bring it to me." She started, ordering them around.
"Yes Theresa," in chorus, they answered and went about their duty.
Feeling fulfilled, she sighed in satisfaction and turned to face the last maid, who was still standing with her in the room.
"What are you doing, staring at me?" She scolded, glaring in a manner to reprimand her.
"I...I don’t have anything left to do," nervously, the maid answered.
"I see, let me see what you can do," thoughtfully, she rested her hand on her chin and rubbed on it, thinking of what task she could give out.
"Ahhh, go keep our Luna entertained," she instructed, referring to Aurora.
"Entertained?" Surprised, the maid asked, wondering why she had to do that when Luna was busy preparing for the day, or so she thought.
"Yes, why are you still standing there? Shooo, go now, hurry!!" Chasing her away with a hand gesture, she said, causing the maid to bow slightly before leaving her sight.
"Today is a big day. If I want to make it up to Aurora, it has to be great. Now let’s go to the market," she said to herself, happily swaying away, to the entrance of the mansion.
"Theresa!!!" A scream from inside the mansion startled her, which caused her to lose balance. Who screamed her name like that? Standing up, she dusted off her gown and turned her head to look at the caller, only to find the maid she ordered to go entertain Aurora, "What is it?" Irritated, she asked.
"Miss Aurora’s dress has been ruined, your attention is needed." The maid relayed, which earned a terrified scream from her.
"What? How? Who did it? Where is she?" She started, bombarding the maid with a series of questions.
"I don’t know. I was about to enter her room when I heard noises from inside her room, only to see her clothes had been torn," the maid disclosed.
"Oh no, how many hours left before the event?" She asked.
"Currently, we have two hours, and they have finished setting up the hall," the maid informed. Though curious about how the maid knew the hall had been arranged, Theresa’s primary concern was Aurora’s dress, so she dismissed the thought.
"Follow me," she instructed.
"Theresa, these are the items we have in the kitchen," reported the maids she had sent to the kitchen.
Torn between heading to the market first or attending to Aurora’s dress, Theresa hesitated, glancing between the maids and the path to Aurora’s room. After making a decision, she turned to the maid who had reported about Aurora’s dress and ordered, "Take these things to the market with the other maids outside and get what we need. Not a single item should be missing, understood?" She emphasized.
"Yes, Theresa," the maid replied, and Theresa hurried toward Aurora’s room.
Once Theresa was out of sight, the maid received the list from the other maids and started making her way to the entrance.
"Let’s see how good you are at protecting her," the maid muttered, giggling manically.
In Aurora’s room, Scarlet moved back and forth, her disheveled hair reflecting her frustration as she scolded the maids responsible for Aurora’s dress. How could they allow this to happen on such an important day? If not for the rebellion Sarah and her entourage had planned, they wouldn’t have had to hire incompetent maids like them.
Frustrated, Scarlet thought about how slow and lacking in basic knowledge these new maids were. The old maids, who were sent away, had at least ten years of experience and were skilled at their jobs. The new ones were entirely reliant on instructions and the education they received in the human world.
The more Scarlet dwelled on it, the more annoyed she became. She couldn’t wait to reprimand Enoch for this mistake. He claimed to be dutiful, but they couldn’t even hire skilled maids.
Although she started as a maid, she was never this clumsy and always knew what to do.
She screamed in frustration and fell onto the bed, growing angrier by the moment.
"Scarlet, you have to..." Aurora’s words were cut off by Theresa’s angry yell. Now things were heating up. It was only a matter of time before that jerk found out about the situation.
"What in the hell happened here?!"
