Chapter 115: A slap for the Luna
Chapter 115: A slap for the Luna
"Enough of these unnecessary conversations, we are here to punish the offender, not mend a broken relationship." Slamming his fist against the desk to restore order in the courtroom, Elder Timotei expressed his frustration at the unfolding scene.
"I won’t let you sentence Aurora to death." Ignoring Sarah, Charlotte turned to Elder Jude, challenging their decision. The outcome meant nothing to her, she wouldn’t allow them to harm Aurora. What kind of Elders were they, conspiring with a woman yet to be their Luna? Was it respect or corruption?
"Miss Charlotte, our decision only matters after the audience decides. This is a public trial where the people decide, ensuring a fair judgment. If the audience says no, she gets to live." Elder Jude explained, and judging by his demeanor, they likely influenced some of the people present to vote in their favor.
Charlotte felt repulsed by their actions, unable to comprehend why they were going to such lengths.
"The voting poll is there, everyone except the Elders is allowed to vote, and everyone includes you both. Let the voting begin." Pointing towards the voting poll by the courtroom entrance, Elder Timotei instructed.
"Let’s go." Guiding Theresa, Charlotte walked them to the voting poll, and they cast their votes. Afterward, the audience began casting their votes.
The voting continued for some minutes until everyone finished. The guard by the poll retrieved the paper votes and tallied them, taking some additional minutes.
"The results are in." The guard announced after counting all the votes.
"For the votes against the decision, we have 14 votes." Theresa felt a bit relieved, knowing that only twenty-nine people voted.
"For the votes in favor of the decision, we have 15, and one void." Theresa collapsed to the ground, shocked by the vote’s outcome.
"It is decided, Miss Aurora shall be sentenced to death. This concludes today’s trial. Safe journey home." Elder Jude dismissed the court.
Theresa wept, her face filled with guilt as she avoided eye contact with Aurora.
"How did she manage to seduce Alpha Damien?" Some people spat at Aurora and hurled insults as they exited the courtroom. The Elders, Sarah, and her mother gathered to discuss, completely disregarding Aurora. Guards carried the rogue out, who struggled to break free, but halted after realizing Aurora was close to fainting. He wanted to talk to her, maybe devise a plan to escape together.
Two guards moved toward Aurora, intending to pick her up, but Scarlet intervened. Standing her ground, she warned, "Don’t you dare lay your hands on her." Scarlet helped Aurora up and draped an arm over her shoulder, leading her out of the courtroom.
"What are you doing?! Let me go! Guards, take this woman away from me." Aurora was already on the brink of fainting from exhaustion, shocked to realize Scarlet was carrying her. She wouldn’t endanger Scarlet’s life, no matter how stubborn Scarlet could be.
"No way." Ignoring Aurora’s protests, Scarlet felt a force push her to the floor. The guards took over, walking Aurora out.
"You fools!" Scarlet yelled, getting up, but was held back by a guard. Struggling, she finally freed herself by kicking the guard’s groin, escaping from his clutches.
"Aurora!" Shouting, she ran after them and blocked their path when she caught up.
"Move out of the way, woman!" One of the guards warned, releasing Aurora in an attempt to shove Scarlet aside.
"Scar...let... Please, let me go." Stammering, Aurora begged. She could barely see as her consciousness waned, unable to hold on much longer.
"Okay, if they manage to pass through me." Smirking, she teased the guards with her tongue. They ran up to her but she managed to evade them and finally got hold of Aurora.
"What in the hell is going on here?" Sarah appeared, seemingly annoyed by whoever was obstructing the guards.
"Ahhh, here comes the Luna of evil! That sounds nice, doesn’t it?" Taunting, Scarlet mocked and busted into laughter that provoked Sarah.
She recognised Scarlet, the protective friend of Aurora. It was funny how she was just coming to the rescue of her friend.
Moving closer to her, Sarah insulted, "You call yourself a true friend but you weren’t bold enough to confront me the day she was captured. Ain’t you being hypocritical?"
Suddenly, a hard slap was hauled across Sarah’s face, earning surprised gasps from everyone.
"How dare you?!" Sarah yelled, not expecting the slap.
"Well, I wanted to see if I was bold enough to slap you." Shrugging her shoulders, she replied and smirked mischievously.
"L...una, please forgive my friend for being so foolish. Spare her life for my sake," Aurora immediately knelt down and started begging for Scarlet’s life. Scarlet never knew when to back down, and when not to. She was like a lion ready to hunt no matter how big the prey was.
"Ohh stop it. I would rather die with you, than have her spare my life, she is not my Luna and would never be." Folding her hands arrogantly, Scarlet said.
"Be careful what you wish for," Sarah warned.
"You don’t tell me what to do, I do me. Also, do you really think you would become the Luna after all of this? Do you think Alpha Damien will love you and mate with you? Well, sweetheart, don’t expect too much from a man like him." Scarlet started, throwing painful words at her to stall for time.
Sarah didn’t look like one to ignore words, she could get more time from arguing with her.
’Where are you Dammit?’ She thought, wondering what was delaying Damien.
It shouldn’t take more than an hour to fly down from country X as it’s a nearby country, what was holding them up?
"At least your friend won’t get to be Luna, that is enough for me." Sarah retorted, hurt, but knew that Scarlet was right.
"You are so desperate to be the Luna, that you are ready to throw away your dignity for the position. You are such a pathetic being, my friend here never chased after a man, she was chased. That’s the difference, get it?!" Scarlet said, provoking her more.
"Who cares when she was just a plaything? The difference is, I get a worthy position," Sarah was hurt but she didn’t show that she was.
"Sure. A position where you open up your pussy for a man who doesn’t love you every night. How is it different from a prostitute job?" Scarlet said, humiliating Sarah.
"Sca...rlet!" Aurora exclaimed, holding onto Scarlet’s leg to stop her from talking.
"What? She started it," feigning innocence, Scarlet said.
"You wench!" Sarah could not keep her emotions in check anymore, so she dragged Scarlet’s hair, tugging at it forcefully.
"What?!" Scarlet was taken off guard as she didn’t expect the sudden attack. If she wasn’t looking at Aurora, Sarah wouldn’t have the chance to attack her. But then again, more time for them.
Playing along, she grabbed Sarah’s hair and they both engaged in a hair battle.
"I am going to turn you bald today!" Sarah threatened as the war continued.
"I am beautiful regardless, can we say the same for you?" Scarlet didn’t stop taunting her.
"Bitch!" Sarah cursed.
"Stop this instant!" Elder Timotei arrived with Sarah’s mother and some elders.
"Luna, what the hell is going on here?" Her mother questioned her, getting comfortable with calling her daughter Luna.
They finally let go of each other, Scarlet went to stand beside Aurora, while Sarah ran to her mother.
"That lady said so many bad things to me. She said I was wombless, and would never get to conceive the heir to the pack." Even the guards widened their eyes at the blatant lie Sarah just told.
"Is that true?" Elder Timotei asked.
Tutting, Scarlet agonized, "What a coward! Having to lie just to be favored. Are you even happy with your life?"
"Miss Scarlet. That’s no right way to talk to your Luna," Elder Timotei corrected her.
"Luna? If I remember correctly, she hasn’t been crowned Luna yet. Moreover, let’s pray Alpha doesn’t change his mind," Scarlet said and busted into laughter.
"Hold her down and get me a sword!" Elder Timotei wasn’t going to allow anyone to talk to him anyhow.
"What are you going to do? Play sword fighting?" Scarlet teased.
"She has no manners for her Elders, who is she?" Sarah’s mother asked.
"I am that lady you never want to cross, trust me!" Completing her sentence, two guards made her kneel and Elder Timotei raised the sword to her neck.
"Do it, son of a bitch!" She cursed.
"I see you have no fear, how about a plot twist?" Elder Timotei said, dropping the sword.
With a suspicious look, Scarlet pondered on what he was playing at, until she saw him pointing the sword at Aurora.
"If you lay a finger on her, I would kill you!" Scarlet snarled, as she tried to break free from the guards grip, but it was futile as they were too strong
"I will make sure you join her soon," Elder Timotei raised up his sword, ready to cut down Aurora.
"Nooooooooo!"
