Chapter 47: Chapter 47 Uh!_1

Dan Wulan’s mind was already clouded by Su Bei’s staff and the undergarments on the haystack.

I have to take these two items back with me today. I absolutely must sleep on this haystack!

Her breathing had unconsciously grown shallow, carrying a hint of scorching heat.

Dan Wulan glared, her apricot-shaped eyes sharp. Her unadorned face, under the hazy moonlight, possessed an ethereal, otherworldly beauty—if one ignored her legs, trembling slightly beneath her long purple dress from a touch of excitement.

"I wish to admire the moon here," Dan Wulan regarded Su Bei with a cool, detached demeanor. Her voice was crisp and cold as she enunciated each word.

"I also want to sleep on the haystack!" Seeing Dan Wulan’s unyielding expression, Su Bei felt he had to assert his authority as Senior Brother. He met her gaze and retorted.

The two of them stared at each other.

A strange, indescribable tension filled the air.

Time ticked by, second by second.

Su Bei clenched his teeth.

If Dan Wuque weren’t right under this haystack, why would I be in a staring contest with this woman for so long? Her claim to admire the moon here? Not even a dog would buy that! She’s definitely figured something out! No, I can’t lose my nerve. Since she hasn’t called me out directly, she must only be suspicious. I’ll just play dumb and lie down on this haystack. What can she do then?

With that thought, Su Bei snorted coldly.

Then, under Dan Wulan’s somewhat surprised gaze, he nonchalantly leaped up and plopped down onto the haystack.

"MPH!"

From the serene No-Sword Peak, a sound suddenly emerged, as faint as the buzzing of a mosquito or fly.

But Su Bei and Dan Wulan were no ordinary individuals. While not quite possessing eyes in the back of their heads or all-hearing ears, they could still discern such a faint sound.

The air was utterly still.

Su Bei’s face turned ashen in an instant.

Just as I sat, I seemed to have pressed down on something soft and warm!

Beneath the haystack, Dan Wuque seemed to realize her mistake. She quickly clapped a hand over her mouth, holding her breath. She lay perfectly still on her back within the haystack. A hint of indignation flickered in her eyes as she felt the weight pressing down on her.

Dan Wulan furrowed her brows, her gaze fixed suspiciously on the haystack. "What was that noise?" she asked softly.

Su Bei gently wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He then smiled, lay back fully on the haystack, stretched his arms, and sighed deeply. "Ah! Nothing, nothing. It was just so comfortable, I hummed a little."

"MPH!"

"MPH, MPH, MPH!"

Su Bei smiled, imitating Dan Wuque’s earlier muffled sound, and looked at Dan Wulan as if explaining.

His hand, hidden within his long sleeve, trembled slightly.

After all, Dan Wulan isn’t a simpleton like Dan Wuque. I wonder if this clumsy excuse can actually fool her...

In his nervousness, Su Bei’s hand subconsciously tightened its grip downward.

Dan Wuque, concealed beneath a sparse layer of straw, tensed up reflexively. Her pearly teeth gently bit her pale red lips, her breathing becoming uneven. She then shot an annoyed glare up at Su Bei.

Where exactly is Senior Brother grabbing? Even if I consider him a good buddy! Good buddies shouldn’t grab... there! Agh!

Dan Wulan’s eyes narrowed as she watched Su Bei, her breathing hitching a few times.

I’m not an idiot like Dan Wuque. There’s definitely something wrong with this haystack! Fifth Senior Brother has been desperately trying to hide something! There’s absolutely someone under that haystack! Hmph! So that’s it. Playing such illicit games in a pigsty late at night. I just don’t know who this person is! Because the air is thick with the smell of pigs, I can’t pinpoint any other scent.

At this thought, a cold sneer touched Dan Wulan’s lips. Her icy eyes fixed on Su Bei as she said slowly, "Senior Brother, you’re sweating profusely. You seem nervous. Perhaps Senior Brother should find a more comfortable place to rest soon..."

She then began to walk, step by step, toward the haystack where Su Bei lay.

Su Bei swallowed hard, his heart thundering like an Emperor Engine, as he anxiously watched Dan Wulan draw nearer and nearer!

He looked at her face, as cold as frost. In the moonlight, partially obscured by dark clouds, scattered strands of white hair caressed her cheeks.

It’s over, it’s all over! I’m going to be found out! My reputation will be ruined! With Dan Wulan’s personality, she’ll definitely handle this impartially and expose everything! What is this called? The crime of deliberately luring an innocent girl! If the Enforcement Hall finds out, I’ll definitely end up imprisoned with Xi Qingyi and Jun Wuxie! No! How can this be happening?!

For a moment, Su Bei’s scalp tingled.

After racking his brain, a glint of determination flashed in his eyes!

I’ve got it! This is a do-or-die plan! They say that aloof women like her value their chastity above all else. Especially an Immortal as detached as Dan Wulan; she might draw her sword and kill a man for merely brushing against her! But it’s also possible she could develop complicated feelings for that man! There’s no way to be sure! If I don’t do something, if I don’t fight for my future, I’m definitely doomed! But if I act, there’s at least a fifty percent chance of success! —I don’t need to do much. Just some intimate contact should be enough.

A subtle shift occurred in Su Bei’s gaze.

Then, rising, he tossed the staff down. Quick as lightning, he leaped from the haystack, his peripheral vision locking onto the staff as his foot landed squarely on it!

Instantly, he ’lost his balance’ and lunged toward Dan Wulan.

Dan Wulan, witnessing Su Bei’s clumsy act of pretending to stumble and fall towards her, was initially taken aback. But when she grasped Su Bei’s intention, realization dawned!

Abruptly, a blush crept up from her jade-like neck, and her lips curved into a knowing, almost giddy smile. Her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, and she seemed ready to let Su Bei ’tackle’ her to the ground.

—Then, her brow furrowed again.

Su Bei’s fall... it’s not right! Given his posture, speed, and angle... he’s definitely not going to land on me...

Dan Wulan’s breathing quickened, her face flushed a deeper red, and in the next instant, a resolute look flashed in her eyes.

Her left foot deliberately caught her right.

Then, she pitched herself forward, ’tripping’ in the direction Su Bei was ’stumbling’.

"OOF!"

Su Bei, now with Dan Wulan in his arms, tumbled straight to the ground.

He felt a warm, delicate softness in his embrace. Looking down, he saw Dan Wulan, whose eyes seemed somewhat panic-stricken...

Why ’somewhat’ panic-stricken? I’m not entirely sure... but I get the distinct feeling that deep within Dan Wulan’s eyes, there’s a flicker of satisfaction!

They were so close they could feel the heat of each other’s breath.

Just then, Su Bei suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

The distinct sound of something tearing through the air came from high above.

An audacious burst of Spiritual Energy, utterly unconcealed, surged arrogantly towards No-Sword Peak...

The two on the ground exchanged a look.

Su Bei gulped and stammered, "Eldest... Eldest Sister?"
