After Prison, She Shocks the World -
Chapter 36: Falling into a Trap
Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Falling into a Trap
Li Hua was so anxious she was sweating profusely, yet Xiaobao continued to cry in her arms.
If Su He found out she wasn’t capable of taking care of Xiaobao, he would hand Xiaobao over to a professional postpartum nanny.
By then, her value to Su He would diminish even further.
Seeing Xiaobao’s face turn purple from crying, Su He snatched Xiaobao from Li Hua’s arms.
"If you can’t take care of a child, don’t bother! You made my son suffer; you’ll pay for this."
"Husband, please don’t be angry. I will try harder to learn how to take care of children better."
Su He ignored her and gently patted Xiaobao’s back.
Xiaobao stopped crying very soon.
"Is this what you call learning how to take care of children?" Su He’s gaze at Li Hua turned even colder.
Li Hua forced a smile and hastily defended herself.
"Perhaps it’s the perfume on me; Xiaobao doesn’t like it. I’ll go shower right away."
Su He carried Xiaobao back to the study and did not give Li Hua another chance to touch the child.
Having finally had a son as he neared fifty, he wished he could keep the child by his side twenty-four hours a day.He also wanted to show those who once mocked him for not being able to have a son how smart and cute his son was.
Suddenly, Xiaobao’s little body convulsed, his eyes rolled back, and he lay motionless in Su He’s arms.
Su He was shocked. "Quick, call the doctor!"

Han Hu had been feverish for an entire day and night but had finally pulled through.
She opened her eyes to a cute, baby-faced young woman.
Seeing her awake, Xiaomei immediately beamed a brilliant smile.
"Sister, she’s awake."
Fu Bing quickly walked over and sat down by the bed to check Han Hu’s pulse again.
Seeing Fu Bing, Han Hu’s eyes widened.
"Why is it you?"
"I’m the one who saved you." Fu Bing signaled for Xiaomei to leave and spoke gently, "Now that you’ve survived, stop thinking about death."
"Last night... you saw everything?"
Fu Bing did not answer but instead asked, "Do you remember the faces of those people?"
"I remember some of them."
"Then remember them well and find a way to make them pay."
Han Hu nodded blankly.
After a while, Han Hu spoke up again.
"I never thought it would be you who saved me."
When Fu Bing first started in the industry, she had played her maidservant. Even then, Han Hu knew Fu Bing would become popular. Fearing Fu Bing would be targeted by unsavory characters, she always found ways to send her away whenever investors and patrons were around. If she really couldn’t send her away, she’d deliberately block Fu Bing’s face to prevent those men with ulterior motives from seeing her beauty. In the entertainment circle, not being seen by patrons or big shots meant losing the path to promotion, making it difficult to get ahead. She thought Fu Bing would hold a grudge against her. After all, since becoming famous, Fu Bing had worked with many people. No matter how good the script and production team were, if a project involved Han Hu, Fu Bing always refused to take part.
Fu Bing squeezed her hand. "I happened to be there, so I saved you. This is Uncle He’s and Aunt Ning’s home. It’s not big, but it’s safe. You can stay here with peace of mind; let me know if you need anything."
"Great kindness is not expressed with mere thanks, but I will find an opportunity to repay you for saving my life."
"I hope I never face a situation where you’d need to repay me by saving my life."
After feeding her two medicine pills, Fu Bing went out.
In the living room, Aunt Ning was sitting in a wheelchair, her head bowed as she made medicine pills. Seeing Fu Bing come out, Aunt Ning looked at her with fond exasperation. "Oh, you..." she sighed, the words carrying affection and resignation, but no hint of scolding.
Fu Bing felt quite embarrassed, sat down beside Aunt Ning, and began massaging her shoulders.
"I’m sorry for causing trouble for you and Uncle He again."
"Silly child, you never need to apologize to me. You certainly couldn’t stand by and watch her being tormented," Aunt Ning said affectionately.
"Also, about me concealing your existence from the public, it wasn’t because I wanted to monopolize the limelight, but because..."
Aunt Ning interrupted her, "You must have your reasons for doing things. Given my current state, I don’t wish to be unduly disturbed by others."
"Mm-hmm."
After having lunch with Aunt Ning and the others, Fu Bing returned to Imperial Garden.
Qin Jinhai leaned against the entrance, his brows knit as he watched her get out of a pink car.
"Where’s that ugly bodyguard of yours?"
"I’m not currently filming, so I gave him a holiday."
"I thought looking at him for so long would have strained your eyes."
"Looking at Chairman Qin is more of an eyesore," Fu Bing retorted softly.
Qin Jinhai raised an eyebrow but didn’t get angry.
"You succeeded."
"What?" Fu Bing looked at him, puzzled. She didn’t understand what he meant.
"Li Hua’s son is currently in a private hospital undergoing emergency treatment; his survival is uncertain."
Fu Bing was startled and explained, "He won’t be in life-threatening danger."
A glint of amusement passed through Qin Jinhai’s dark eyes, but his words were cold.
"They’ll come looking for you soon. Don’t appear too eager, or it will make them suspicious."
"I know."
Han Hu was saved by her, and Li Hua’s son just happened to fall ill. The two incidents happening at the same time was too much of a coincidence. If exposed, it would inevitably be traced back to her one day.
Qin Jinhai cautioned, "Now that Han Hu has survived, send her for plastic surgery, change her identity, and keep her by your side. I’ll have someone spread the news that she couldn’t bear the humiliation and committed suicide."
"Her family will be heartbroken if they find out."
Qin Jinhai didn’t even lift an eyelid, his voice as cold as winter snow.
"You’re overthinking it. As long as you give her family enough money, they will think her death was worth it."
Fu Bing was so choked up she almost couldn’t catch her breath.
She often felt that compared to those unfortunate people, she wasn’t so miserable. When she was most desperate, there was always a little warmth enveloping her.

Following Fu Bing’s arrangements, on the third day after waking up, Han Hu was secretly taken out of Jiangcheng by Qin Jinhai’s men and admitted to a clinic for plastic surgery. All traits related to Han Hu’s identity were erased during the surgery.
Fu Bing, meanwhile, continued to be busy. Qin Jinhai didn’t return all her funds at once, starting instead by giving her back her real estate. Her current funds were mainly used to repay debts. The total amount was no longer the original billions, as many had withdrawn their demands for penalty fees, concerned they might need her help with medicine in the future. Still, a debt of 538 million remained. Currently, Xiaomei’s account held 230 million, with twenty million being repaid each month. Repaying debts in an orderly manner was more feasible than depleting all their assets at once, as they also needed funds for living expenses and other plans. The various medicine pill agencies Yang Ningzheng managed transferred twenty-three million to her monthly, providing a long-term source of income that wouldn’t cease in the short term. Ya Garden also contributed tens of millions in income each month. Financially, there was no pressing pressure.
Yet, having seen too much darkness, money alone was entirely insufficient.
Fu Bing was pondering this when her phone rang.
It was Su Junling’s number.
"Director Su, hello."
"Do you have time today? I need your help with something."
Fu Bing thought for a moment before responding, "Not today. My home is currently being renovated, and there are many details I need to discuss with the construction team as they arise."
"Can’t you let someone else go?"
"I have quite a few specific requirements; others might not be able to achieve the results I want."
Su Junling shook his head at Su He and Li Hua.
Su He became anxious. "How much money does she want? Let her name her price; we’ll give whatever she asks!"
