After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again -
Chapter 27: A Good Man
Chapter 27: Chapter 27: A Good Man
Chloe Quinn sat down on the single-seater couch opposite Charles Shaw, a smile on her face, "Reporter Shaw, shall we begin now?"
Charles Shaw nodded and glanced at Florence Fuller.
Florence Fuller leaned against the back of an off-camera couch, seemingly ready to witness the entire interview.
He truly didn’t know that Florence Fuller was at this company, he had only informed Chloe Quinn when he arrived.
Starting from scratch, brand design. Now it’s on a premium route; the products are hot, and the sales market aimed at overseas markets is exceptionally booming.
"Hello, President Quinn." Charles Shaw briefly introduced himself, then, following the pre-written interview script, asked some questions about the company’s development and future trends.
"Do you have any advice for young entrepreneurs?"
Chloe Quinn sighed and candidly replied, "Don’t take risks if you have no money. Whether it’s a partner or a friend you’re starting a business with, you must know them well. Otherwise, like back in the day, if I hadn’t met my benefactor, I’d probably still be in jail now."
Charles Shaw was startled, "Benefactor?"
Chloe Quinn chuckled, saying as she looked over, "Yes, our company’s Executive President and Chairman."
The place where Florence Fuller had just stood was now empty.
"Alright." Charles Shaw seemed to have understood.
When Florence Fuller returned after taking a call, the interview had already ended, and everyone was packing up their things.
Chloe Quinn pulled her aside, "Where did you go?"
"Had a call," replied Florence Fuller.
Chloe Quinn curled her lips, "Your brother... he’s quite something, huh."
Florence Fuller glanced at Charles Shaw, who was tidying up, "What?"
"Good talker." Chloe Quinn also looked over; Charles Shaw was helping his colleague tidy things up, wearing a simple shirt and casual trousers. His clean and gentle appearance, with his tall build and long legs, made him look like a recent graduate: "How old is he?"
"Almost twenty-nine."
He really looks young.
"Is he seeing anyone?"
Florence Fuller looked towards Chloe Quinn, "As far as I know, he’s probably never dated."
"No way, how could that be." The guy’s quite handsome, but thinking about the Shaw Family’s situation, she nodded, "He’s a good man."
Florence Fuller stared at her, "Hm?"
"I’m complimenting him." Chloe Quinn coughed lightly, "How do you find me as a sister-in-law?"
Florence Fuller fixed her gaze on her, "What are you talking about."
"Oh~" Chloe Quinn pouted, "Fine, just forget I said anything."
"I warn you, if you don’t have pure intentions, don’t mess with him, he can’t take it."
"I was just talking nonsense, I know better than that."
Just as Chloe Quinn finished speaking, Charles Shaw and his colleague had already packed up, and Zomerton led them out, "President Quinn, President Fuller, I’ll see them out."
Chloe Quinn waved her hand, "Take care, bye."
As the elevator doors on one side closed, the other elevator doors opened.
Lily Hart and Lily Lancaster came out, seeing Florence Fuller and Chloe Quinn standing together.
"Boss. President Quinn, is your interview over?"
"It’s over, Zomerton just saw them out."
Lily Lancaster nodded.
Seeing the two of them, Chloe Quinn remembered, "Why are you handling all the urgent work lately, where are you going?"
Florence Fuller lifted her eyes lightly, "Going on a vacation with the old man to a farm."
"Vacation at a farm?" Chloe Quinn thought for a moment, "Such a big shot, yet quite down-to-earth."
"When are you going?"
"Beginning of the month, the day after tomorrow." Florence Fuller took the file handed by Lily Hart, flipping through it.
"That scumbag husband of yours... will he be going too?"
Florence Fuller nodded.
"Don’t let that scumbag benefit from it, though he looks good and comes from a top family, he’s really no good." Chloe Quinn got serious, "I always thought you’d get a divorce."
Right from the start, she never cared about Luke Gardiner’s partying outside, with gossip flying everywhere.
Florence Fuller had quite the composed mindset; she got married, but she wholeheartedly refused to be a rich lady trapped at home. She might have married into SJ with no value, but she creates her own value here.
Amazing!
"Rest assured," Florence Fuller closed the file, "I’m well aware."
Chloe Quinn nodded.
——
The morning breeze in late autumn was slightly cool.
Departing at nine, Florence Fuller arrived at the old residence by eight, just in time for breakfast.
The kitchen left her breakfast; there was still plenty of time, and she ate leisurely. She heard footsteps approaching from behind.
"Luke~" Eleanor Sussex’s voice was full of coquettishness, "Please~ I really love that bag, help me buy it, please."
Unexpectedly bumping into Florence Fuller in the dining room, Eleanor Sussex’s face stiffened.
Luke Gardiner sat opposite her, recalling the heated phone argument they had the other day; he coldly drank some broth and took a bite of shrimp dumpling.
Eleanor Sussex glanced at Florence Fuller, then leaned closer to Luke Gardiner, while the woman across from them kept her eyes on the food, quietly eating.
"Luke," Nana Sussex eyed Florence Fuller, "you should agree, I beg you."
Luke Gardiner was eating, all the while paying attention to the woman across from him.
Ignoring him, they wouldn’t speak to each other and see who’d relent first.
Having almost finished her meal, Florence Fuller pulled out two tissues and left the table.
The old man came down the stairs just in time, "Florence, finished eating?"
"Finished, Grandpa."
"Almost time for us to set off, is Luke still in his room?" the old man asked.
"He’s having breakfast."
As soon as Florence Fuller finished speaking, Luke Gardiner came out biting a dough stick, "I’ll go change clothes."
He was still in his pajamas, having stayed overnight at the old house.
The old man gave him a displeased look, "So we’re all waiting just for you, huh?"
Noticing Eleanor Sussex following him closely, "Why are you following him around early in the morning? Didn’t Grace Linney arrange a job for you? Aren’t you going to work?"
Eleanor Sussex looked at the old man uneasily, "I... I’ll go in a bit."
Old Mr. Gardiner didn’t bother further and waved to Florence Fuller, "Let’s go wait in the car."
The farm is on the border between SJ City and the neighboring province, about a two-hour drive.
Two cars were arranged, the old man in one by himself, with Florence Fuller and Luke Gardiner in the other.
While waiting in the car, Luke Gardiner finally arrived a little late after changing clothes. He opened the car door to see Florence Fuller, who had already taken her seat, and sat down next to her leisurely.
Florence Fuller minimized the presence of the person beside her. As soon as the car left the old house, she put on her headphones, sunglasses on her face, leaned back against the seat, and it was unclear if she was faking sleep or actually sleeping.
Luke Gardiner gave a cold snort at her demeanor.
The entire two-plus-hour drive was very quiet, with even the driver sensing that the couple didn’t get along at all.
This hillside was specifically invested in and developed into a holiday farm, with all the plants and animals at Dawn produced entirely through natural farming methods. Within the farm was also a small zoo and amusement park.
The car stopped in front of a quaint little Western-style house; this area was all residential, and all of the cottages looked identical.
