Chapter 18: Come Find Me
Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Come Find Me
She belonged to the group of girls with delicate and beautiful features.
Dark eyebrows, watery eyes, and lips as moist as water. Her skin was fair and tender, and from such a close distance, he could smell the faint fragrance of her perfume.
It had a hint of jasmine scent.
Just as he wanted to lean in closer, Florence Fuller’s finger glided along the contour of his cheek, went against the tip of his nose, and then gave it a firm pinch.
"Ah! Damn it!"
Instantly, the accumulated tenderness collapsed.
Luke Gardiner was caught off guard; Florence Fuller was grabbing his nose harshly with one hand and pinching his face with the other: "I haven’t even called you hubby yet, and you’re already calling out."
Luke Gardiner was in so much pain that tears almost came out. She had hit his nose until it bled not long ago, and now again, he already had a phobia: "Please... I beg you... Let go... Quick, let go."
Florence Fuller increased her strength a bit.
Luke Gardiner struggled: "Wrong, wrong, I’m wrong! My nose is going to bleed again, stop pulling my face!"
"Give me back my phone!"
"Return, return, return! I’ll give it back immediately, just let go of me first!"
Florence Fuller hesitated for a moment, then released her grip.
Luke Gardiner’s nose and cheeks were blazing red. He rubbed them, flexing his facial muscles, and looked at Florence Fuller with grievance.
"You’re always using force on me, why can’t you be a bit gentler?"
"If you didn’t provoke me, would I use force? Stop blabbering, hand over the phone."
Luke Gardiner reached towards his pocket, looking at Florence Fuller, and then...
"Ah!"
In a whirlwind moment, Florence Fuller was pinned onto the sofa. Luke Gardiner controlled her hand: "I’ll tell you, I let you win the previous times, but this time..."
"Luke Gardiner!" A knocking sound came from the door. Christopher Somerset knocked twice forcefully, seemingly seeing him pinning a woman onto the sofa, thinking he was about to mess around again: "What are you doing? Aren’t we going to dinner!"
Seizing this gap, Luke Gardiner looked up at him for a moment: "Wait a minute, I..."
"Smack!"
Christopher Somerset was stunned.
Luke Gardiner was also stunned, looking at the woman below him with disbelief: "You dare hit me!"
His face took a solid slap, and from childhood to now, no one had ever dared to hit him like this.
"I hit you alright." The woman kicked him over and stood up, and Christopher Somerset saw her face, even more surprised: "Sis... sis-in-law!"
Florence Fuller turned her head to glance at the newcomer, eased her expression, just as she was about to speak, the man on the ground, Luke Gardiner, climbed up, looking at her with a livid face.
Seeing the stance of these two, Christopher Somerset thought it seemed odd. Just before, they were like complete strangers, brushing past each other without even greeting.
Now how... They’re even fighting.
"Um... Sis-in-law!" Christopher Somerset feared they’d start fighting again: "We’re having dinner tonight, would you like to join us?"
"Not going."
"Why invite her?"
Luke Gardiner felt embarrassed, exposing his anger in front of his buddies, and glared at Florence Fuller gloomily.
Florence Fuller chuckled: "What, can’t afford to lose after not being able to win?"
"I don’t hit women."
"You don’t hit women, yet your mouth is begging for a beating." Florence Fuller reached out: "Hurry up, give me back my phone."
Luke Gardiner pulled it out, Florence Fuller reached to grab it, but who knew he’d fake a move, Luke Gardiner smirked: "You hit me, and still want your phone back, no way!"
He tucked the phone into the inner pocket of his suit and strode out.
Florence Fuller grabbed him, coldly saying: "Give it back quickly, I have work calls."
"Mrs. Gardiner." Luke Gardiner brushed off her hand: "Allow me to remind you, you haven’t changed out of your sports attire yet. If you want your phone, come find me."
Luke Gardiner walked away with his hands in his pockets, and Christopher Somerset watched him stride off with a slapped face, flaunting, feeling he deserved it.
Passing by Christopher Somerset, Luke Gardiner patted his shoulder: "Tell your sis-in-law where we’re having dinner."
Christopher Somerset helplessly looked at Florence Fuller: "Sis-in-law, we’re at GS Dining House, secured a private room."
Florence Fuller took a deep breath: "Tell Luke Gardiner’s car to wait!"
Florence Fuller changed her clothes and briefed Lily Hart about some work, with Lily seeing her off.
At the club entrance, a black Lamborghini was parked there, the passenger door open, Luke Gardiner’s hand resting on the steering wheel, the other playing with Florence Fuller’s phone.
Florence Fuller took the bag Lily handed over: "Clock out once it’s time."
Lily nodded, watching her get into the car.
As she got in, Luke Gardiner placed the phone into the bag, his face still feeling a dull pain: "Thought you wouldn’t dare come."
"You’re obediently waiting here; how could I not come."
Luke Gardiner’s face darkened.
Florence Fuller adjusting her hair: "Drive!"
Treating him like a driver.
Luke Gardiner gritted his teeth, started the engine.
The stretch of road outside the club had no cars, and Luke Gardiner drove quickly, expecting the woman to be scared or something, yet Florence Fuller stared out the window without changing expression.
Just like that, Luke Gardiner lost interest.
The car merged into the main road, his speed slowed down, and a phone rang inside the bag.
It was his own phone.
Seeing the caller ID, he smiled, throwing the phone onto Florence Fuller’s lap.
Florence Fuller got startled, displeased looking at him, seeing the caller ID: Grandpa.
Luke Gardiner kept his eyes on the road: "It’s inconvenient to answer while driving."
Florence Fuller picked up, set to speaker but didn’t speak.
"Luke!"
A few seconds passed in silence, with Florence Fuller not speaking, Luke Gardiner responded: "Grandpa."
"Recently wrap up the busy stuff at the company, spare a week, and accompany me to the farm for a stay."
"Huh?"
"What’s with the huh! Must make time," Old Mr. Gardiner’s voice allowed no refusal: "I’ll call Florence in a bit, you both, cultivate some affection."
"Oh~" Luke Gardiner glanced at Florence Fuller, seeing her frowning, he chuckled: "Grandpa, no need to call, the person is right beside me."
Old Mr. Gardiner: "Huh? Ah!"
"Honey~" Luke Gardiner’s tone turned affectionate: "Say a word to Grandpa. We, after all, are together."
Old Mr. Gardiner called tentatively twice: "Florence? Florence?"
"Grandpa." Florence Fuller answered helplessly.
"Oh my~ Really there." The old man’s cheerful tone barely containable: "Perfect, perfect, you’ve heard it too, quickly finish your current work, we’re going next month."
"Grandpa," Florence Fuller was reluctant: "I’m genuinely busy, can I not go."
"Even busy people need time for leisure, working nonstop will wear out your body."
Florence Fuller: "..."
"Understood, Grandpa." Luke Gardiner took over the conversation: "We’ll schedule the time appropriately."
"Alright then, it’s settled." Old Mr. Gardiner instructed: "Next month on the first, we’ll leave from the old residence, driving."
"Alright!"
