After Being Blackened All Over the Internet, I Ruled the Military Variety Shows -
Chapter 286: Unexpected Fusion
Chapter 286: Chapter 286: Unexpected Fusion
Jiang Lingxi was still savoring that slight peculiarity in her heart when the phone in her hand vibrated again. She lowered her eyes to swipe away the image and look at the message that had just arrived.
Shen Yunqing: [It’s getting late, and we have to get up early for the recording tomorrow. Rest early.]
After reading the message, Jiang Lingxi dismissed the idea of asking about the brand ’Shanyue Zhiheng’ for now; there would be plenty of opportunities later.
Lingxi: [You too, don’t stay up too late.]
Shen Yunqing leisurely exited the chat interface and then noticed another unread message that had just arrived. He casually clicked it open.
Shen Huchen: [Cousin, I’ve got a surprise for you on this trip, but Brother Xia said you’ve been so busy you haven’t been home. I came all the way to the Imperial City, and might not even get to see you? How cruel is that?]
Shen Yunqing: [Go to bed early.]
Shen Huchen tossed and turned on the bed, and upon hearing the message alert, he suddenly sat up straight. Seeing his message received a reply, he instantly sent out a stream of messages non-stop.
Unable to bear the ceaseless notifications, Shen Yunqing... muted the phone.
Peace at last!

The next morning, just after seven, Jiang Lingxi, hearing the sound of pacing in the living room, decisively opened her eyes.
Opening the door, she saw Tong Yue bustling around with Lu Zhengzheng and Xu Ling’an.
"Awake? I was just about to call you; the hotel’s breakfast hasn’t arrived yet, so you might as well try on the clothes first."
"Your footsteps are more effective than an alarm clock."
Tong Yue raised an eyebrow, "When did you become so hearing sensitive!" She said, handing over a dress, "Today is the first day of recording, dress a bit more formal, how about this one?"
"Not this one," Jiang Lingxi handed over her phone with the just-read text message, "Today’s an outdoor shooting; I reckon there’ll be a lot of walking. Wear the lightest and most convenient outfit, preferably with flat shoes."
Tong Yue took the phone, turned on the screen, and read out the group text: "All teachers, please gather at the TV station’s first-floor lobby at 8 AM sharp. The PD is in place, please do not be late. Latecomers will have to travel to the recording location on their own."
"It doesn’t mention outdoor shooting anywhere!"
"Isn’t it implied in the last sentence?"
Tong Yue: "..." She re-read the last sentence twice, then suspiciously took back the selected dress and replaced it with the lightest one, struggling a bit among the high heels before selecting a pair of flats, "I’ll trust you this time."
Jiang Lingxi took it: "Trust me, I won’t be wrong."
Tong Yue: "..."
Once Jiang Lingxi came back out of the bedroom having changed into the clothes and shoes, Tong Yue was left speechless.
Out of the three dresses, this one looked the least flashy to her, in a soft light cloud gray, she hadn’t expected it to look so stunning on.
Lu Zhengzheng, who had a sewing kit ready, was experienced in these things; the dresses sent by brands are not tailored to the artist’s body, so usually need some adjustments to look good.
This time, however, after circling Jiang Lingxi and carefully feeling the waist and sleeves where alterations are usually needed, she was both regretful and amazed to find: "This dress fits Sister Xixi so well, there’s no need for any alterations!"
Jiang Lingxi lifted her skirt and sat down, "Then let’s eat breakfast."
Tong Yue seeing this had no choice but to swallow back her suggestion to ’also try on the other two dresses.’
But looking at the piece Jiang Lingxi was wearing now, she had an inexplicable premonition that the other two should also fit perfectly.
Could it be that the Shanyue Zhiheng brand has data on their artists’ body measurements?
This and their sudden sponsorship of their artist’s dress both puzzled her as a manager.
But such a windfall doesn’t need overthinking, just a joyous acceptance.

At seven-thirty, Xu Ling’an opened the suite door with his backpack on, meeting Su Cheng’s gaze from across the hall.
The young man habitually scratched the back of his head, "Morning, are you all heading out too? What a coincidence!"
Xu Ling’an couldn’t be bothered to expose him and just nodded, turning back to look inside the room, "Let’s go, sis."
Su Cheng quickly turned to call Su Yi, who was already prepared to set off, "Sister, it’s time to go!"
Jiang Lingxi and Su Yi almost simultaneously exited, exchanged a glance, then Jiang Lingxi nodded towards the young lady.
Su Yi instantly perked up, lifted her skirt and approached Jiang Lingxi, "Good morning, Ms. Jiang."
"Morning, Su..."
"Ms. Jiang, just call me Yi Yi."
"Alright, Yi Yi."
Following behind the two, Su Cheng, watching his sister’s suddenly dainty demeanor, couldn’t help scratching his own head.
Was this really his normally quiet and calm sister, who when enraged could wield kitchen knives and clubs like a fierce Tyrant Dragon? How did she turn into a different person in front of this Ms. Jiang?
As they reached the elevator, two people already waiting turned to look at them.
Su Yi, ready to nod at the woman, was taken aback upon seeing the unfamiliar man beside her.
Thankfully, Jiang Lingxi spoke up, "Mr. Lin."
Lin Nuo, meeting Jiang Lingxi’s gaze, couldn’t help but touch his freshly shaven, clean face.
Last night, after shaving and a haircut, even he found his face unfamiliar in the mirror and had to spend some time adjusting to his new look back in the hotel room.
To his surprise, upon seeing him today, she recognized him immediately.
Su Yi blurted out faster than she could think, "The beard?"
Lin Nuo replied without hesitance, "Shaved it, didn’t want to scare the audience."
Su Cheng stepped forward seriously appraising him, "Didn’t expect you’d be quite handsome after shaving."
Lin Nuo smiled good-naturedly.
Once they reached the meet-up lobby at the TV station, the already present Lu Sen and Shen Huchen were also startled to see Lin Nuo without a beard.
With about ten minutes remaining before eight, Jing Huai hurriedly arrived last.
Seeing the director and other guests were already present, he paused and quickly explained, "Sorry for the delay, there was a bit of traffic on the way!"
Standing slightly forward to his side, Jiang Lingxi subtly sniffed, catching a scent of alcohol covered by men’s cologne, and gave him an amused glance.
Qian Yaya, worried her idol’s tardiness would displease the director, quickly stepped up to smooth things over, "I just got here too, there’s still ten minutes before eight, not late at all."
Chen Weiwen smiled and nodded, "Now that all the guests are here, let’s head upstairs for makeup. Today’s recording is at a studio, it opens at 9:30, so no rush. You can still grab some breakfast at the canteen if needed."
With these words, the Su siblings’ eyes instantly brightened.
Caught off guard by traffic, Jing Huai, who skipped breakfast, also showed interest.
He then caught sight of Director Chen’s watchful gaze, causing him to press his lips together.
This person always had an amiable smile, but to rise as a director for a national channel’s variety show, he surely had some skills, not one to be underestimated.
Might he have noticed something?
