Chapter 331: Chapter 293: Grand Opening!_2
"How did you come to think of coming to Wusi Country?" Shen Feixue asked with interest.
That question stumped Wu Xiaode.
I didn’t plan on coming to Wusi Country. It was the Ghost Queen who randomly teleported me to the desert at the border between Wusi Country and Dongsheng Country.
Then it naturally followed that I escaped into Wusi Country.
Shen Feixue continued on her own:
"That was indeed a wise decision. Wusi Country is the poorest and most backward among the ’Reformist Faction’ countries, with a persistently high crime rate and virtually no notable tech industry. Its initial joining of the ’Reformist Faction’ was merely to avoid the strict social order of the ’Conservative Faction’."
"I’ve seen they have mechas," Wu Xiaode said.
"That’s something only the gangs possess. In fact, some remote areas in Wusi Country don’t even have widespread internet access," Shen Feixue replied, shaking her head.
"It seems like it’ll be difficult for Dongsheng Country to pursue and kill us here," Wu Xiaode said.
"Exactly," Shen Feixue agreed.
Wu Xiaode fell into deep thought.
...It must be the two points of luck I added to myself back when I was helping the Ghost Queen; they’re still taking effect.
The Ghost Queen herself also had a bit of luck.
That makes it three points of luck.
That’s already quite high.
So by a stroke of good (or bad) luck, I ended up in Wusi Country.
Shen Feixue turned her head and started chatting with Christina in the back seat.
She was very interested in this girl who suddenly appeared and has been trying to figure out the relationship between Wu Xiaode and this girl.
"Brother, when do we broadcast next?" Christina asked excitedly.
After the last broadcast, I got another reward from Brother Wu.
Now I have more gemstones than I can use, and it feels so cool!
"Don’t rush, let’s see how the world reacts first, the feedback from the audience is somewhat unbelievable to me," Wu Xiaode remarked.
Suddenly.
He seemed to hear something, gently steered the wheel, and stopped the car in a patch of wild grass by the roadside.
Deadly Demon Mist surged up, completely concealing the off-road vehicle.
After a few breaths.
A howling sound came from the sky.
Seven or eight large combat shuttles swiftly passed overhead, heading towards the road ahead.
"Those are combat shuttles from Dongsheng Country,"
Shen Feixue stated gravely.
"Are you sure?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"Certain. Wusi Country doesn’t have such high-level combat shuttles; these must have been sent by Dongsheng Country," Shen Feixue insisted.
Wu Xiaode fell into deep thought again.
The other side had actually crossed the border.
This was outrageous.
Do they really have to kill us to let it go?
After pondering for a few breaths, Wu Xiaode pressed down on the accelerator and turned the steering wheel.
The off-road vehicle roared, turning around and speeding back the way it had come.
Several tens of minutes later.
The car stopped outside a small town.
"You guys listen to some music, have some snacks, and rest in the car. I’ll come back and get you soon,"
Wu Xiaode said.
"Brother Wu, why did we come back here?" Shen Feixue asked uneasily.
"A new attempt," Wu Xiaode said with a smile.
Christina didn’t bother with such details and said in a coquettish voice:
"I want that nut chocolate—the one wrapped in red plastic. Brother Wu, can you buy me some more, please?"
"Sure, just wait a moment."
Wu Xiaode nodded at the two women and walked out of the mist, heading in the direction of the town.
As he walked, he whispered: "Rester."
"What kind of disguise would the master like?" Rester, hidden in the Void, asked.
"A thug."
"The master seems not to need a disguise."
"Too young; give me a middle-aged version."
"As you wish, master."
Wu Xiaode took a few steps and suddenly grew a few inches taller, his facial contours became square, sporting a stubbly beard, topped with a bald head, and his body was burly and covered in tattoos.
He strode into the town.
Drip, drip, drip—
Three sounds in succession.
In the center of the town, three machines emitted beams of light, sweeping over him.
"Target excluded."
A cold mechanical voice rang out.
Wu Xiaode’s lips twitched.
Dongsheng Country was truly formidable, directly establishing a search station on the land of Wusi Country and beginning to arrest civilians.
In contrast, Wusi Country didn’t even have a single person brave enough to fart in protest.
Wu Xiaode walked down the streets once.
He grabbed someone and asked, "What’s going on here? Why is everyone moving things?"
The young man he had pulled was about to get angry, but seeing Wu Xiaode’s defiant appearance, he suppressed his anger and whispered:
"This place is no longer suitable for business; everyone is retreating."
After speaking, he went into a nearby shop to move things.
Wu Xiaode pondered for a few moments, then continued on.
He arrived at the entrance of a bar.
A few people were there, taking inventory of items.
"Are you moving out?" Wu Xiaode asked.
The men glanced at him.
An old man with grizzled whiskers pulled out a gun, smiled, and said, "This is Hyena Gang’s turf, and now we’re moving out. Where are you from, friend? Got any objections?"
Wu Xiaode crossed his arms and sized up the bar, an idea suddenly rising in his mind.
"If you ask me, there’s no need to touch this place."
He spoke up.
The others stopped moving things and drew guns from behind them.
"My friend, are you trying to interfere with Hyena Gang’s affairs?" The old man with the white beard smiled, revealing a mouthful of rotten teeth.
—He was almost ready to open fire.
"No, I want to buy this bar," Wu Xiaode said calmly.
"Rester, what’s the protocol for assassin business in the underworld?" he silently asked in his mind.
Rester immediately responded, "In Wusi Country’s underworld, business related to killing is referred to as ’hunting.’
Wu Xiaode, now confident, leaned in and whispered into the ear of the old man with the white beard:
"We’re hunters; we need a place like this."
The old man with the white beard was taken aback.
—So he was dealing in the business of assassination.
Gangs normally didn’t shy away from murder, rarely needing such expertise.
Yet these folks thriving in the assassination business in Wusi Country proved they were more professional and authoritative in the matter of killing than the gangs themselves.
Maybe such a team didn’t fear a few robots at all.
The white-bearded old man’s demeanor instantly became much friendlier as he said affably, "Brother, this bar is too far from the city; keeping it up requires a lot of manpower and resources. Just the weekly delivery of food and water costs a pretty penny."
Wu Xiaode nodded, his expression unchanged, waiting for him to continue.
"If you do me a favor, I’ll give you this bar. Later on, I’ll even be your supplier, providing food and water for free for a year, and if there’s business, I will take care of you," the old man said.
"Who do you want to kill?" Wu Xiaode asked bluntly.
The white-bearded old man looked around and whispered, "The bunch at the hotel opposite are leaving, and I hope your people will take them out."
"What do they do?"
"White powder."
"White powder is a drug, Master," Rester interjected.
Wu Xiaode was somewhat surprised and turned his head to look in the direction of the hotel.
Drug dealers were all madmen; no one usually dared to mess with them in the underworld.
This white-bearded old man wanted him to take out a group of drug dealers—
It seemed a bit of a losing deal.
Forget it, this was the first business transaction in the Wusi Country gang network.
He would consider it ridding the people of a menace.
"Rester."
"Yes, they are drug dealers, Master."
"Take them out."
"They are dead, Master."
Wu Xiaode nodded, turned around, and said to the white-bearded old man:
"I’ll take care of the killing, but I have one condition."
"Business is all about negotiation, brother. Whatever your request, please speak freely," the white-bearded old man said politely, spreading his hands.
"When you supply various kinds of food, I want a type of nut chocolate— the kind wrapped in red plastic,"
Wu Xiaode said.
