A Serpent's Tale -
Chapter 308: Expulsion
Chapter 308: Expulsion
It was Morrigan.
Why she was here? I had no idea. I also had no idea how or when she got here either.
In fact, where is everyone else. Surely they would’ve come in and acted upon hearing this voice. Why aren’t they?
"Ha! You think that my Master hasn’t thought of that? Why do you think I was given a body in this world and sealed in a cocoon like I was? It can only melt away once this form has reached its peak power!" The evil spirit boasted with a smile unbefitting of Asty’s body.
"Or just simply if a fire more powerful than your ice were to melt it prematurely, you wouldn’t be." Morrigan said with a deadpan smile on her face as she stared at the evil spirit without fear.
I kind of felt like I was being forgotten here in their little exchange.
"Hmph! Like such a thing could ever exist in this world! You and your little group of heretical cowards won’t be able to stop me, and neither will anyone in this city!"
"Well, good thing we’re not in the city then, is it?" Morrigan’s smile only widened, with her expression remaining otherwise the same.
"Huh?" The cruel and overconfident smile that the evil spirit had using Asty’s body drooped down into a frown before it suddenly shouted in anger. "YOU! HOW DID YOU DO THIS?!"
It pointed at Morrigan in accusation and demanded an explanation out of her, but the old witch just said nothing and continued smiling at the evil spirit.
I could tell that it wanted to attack but it refrained from doing so for some reason.
"Grrrr... Hmph! I won’t fall for your paltry tricks!" The spirit harumphed and then crossed his arms as she took his gaze off of her for a second, but not for long as she immediately turned its head slightly just so that it could look at her through the corner of its eye.
"I don’t need paltry tricks, not with her here. As I said, she alone is enough." Morrigan said, referring to me once again.
The spirit looked over at me and scoffed and boasted, "You think she’s capable of beating me? I would kill her faster than you could even blink!"
And then I saw Morrigan blink. Mockingly.
Which angered the evil spirit. Immensely.
"YOU! How dare you insult me like that!" It began fuming once again, pointing at the witch with a trembling arm, clearly expecting some sort of trap if it attacked.
I think Morrigan is just stalling and taking the spirits attention away from me so that I can attack it, but I need a couple more seconds to process her appearance first.
And also to figure out what the best course of action was.
"Insult you like what? If you really were as powerful as you claim to be, then you would’ve acted and attacked when I started blinking. Not that that would’ve achieved anything." She said with a dismissive shrug.
The spirit then started to grind its teeth, or rather Asty’s teeth together, which irked me immensely, as that meant that he could break her newly recovered fangs.
I pounced on him the moment I realised that, which took him by surprise as he was too busy seething at Morrigan to pay attention to me.
Immediately I grabbed Asty’s head and shoved it back into the bed, which was surprisingly dry now thanks to the residual heat that was still here somehow.
After I threw him face first into the bed, I pinned him down by using my [Spatial Domain] and increasing the gravity within it, not enough to breaks Asty’s body, but just enough to pin it there.
And that left the spirit locked in place also.
It growled and glared at me with hate, but my own cold, dead stare just made it cower in fear.
It knew that I could easily end it just with this move alone yet I didn’t. It knew that I was stronger than it. And it knew that I would show it no mercy.
It tried to fight back, to fight against the gravitational force that I was forcing down upon it, but it was useless. It could barely move an arm across the mattress, let alone fight back.
"Gggrrrrr... Just t-t-try anything..." It even struggled to speak under the pressure. "I’ll make s-sure to k-k-kill her if you try and kill m-me!"
’Bad idea.’
The moment he said that, I unleashed the full force of my elemental Aura’s alongside both my Bloodline and my Soul Aura’s down upon him, which made some bones crack.
It pained me to do this to Asty’s body, but I had to bear with it for her own safety.
I lightened the pressure from my Spatial domain and flipped Asty’s body over so that she was now facing upright.
Once I did so, the evil spirit looked up at me in hatred and disgust. But I could tell that behind all that menacing gaze, was one full of fear.
And I spoke some words not to inspire more fear into it, no, that was just a bonus. I spoke words that conveyed exactly what I wanted them to convey. "You will die here."
Its eyes immediately dilated as it knew that I was serious, and that I would kill it.
"Y-y-y-you c-c-can’t! I-I-I-I’ll k-kill her if you d-d-do!" It tried to beg for its life by using Asty as a bargaining chip.
In response to his repeated threats, I simply said, "You won’t."
I then placed my hands onto Asty’s head, which was sweating immensely under the pressure I was putting it under and began to force my own Aura into her body end expunging the spirit out of her body.
"AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!" The spirit started to scream, and this time, it was only the spirit that was screaming, not both of them like when it talked before.
And I could see the spirit leaving her body through the skin like a melting mist before it dispersed naturally into the air.
I could tell that the spirit needed a host to inhabit or else it would fade away into nothing like it was now.
It tried to claw its way back into Asty’s body, but when it realised that it would just be expunged once again, it tried to possess me instead.
That was a bad idea, as the moment it entered my body, I bit onto it with my soul and began slurping the spirit essence down my soul like I was sucking down some noodles.
The moment the spirit realised that I was devouring it with my very soul, it did it’s best to stop me from doing so, trying to claw away at my soul and break it. But once it saw that that didn’t work, it tried to beg for its life once more.
But I wouldn’t budge. I wasn’t going to stop until I had devoured every last shred of this thing’s existence.
"PLEASE! PLEASE STOP!!! I’LL GIVE YOU ANYTHING YOU DESIRE! ANYTHING IF YOU JUST LET ME LIVE!!! I’LL GET YOU WHATEVER YOU WANT!!! I’LL EVEN SPARE YOUR FRIENDS LIFE!"
I didn’t give a damn about anything the spirit said. I wanted to kill it, so I would. That was all.
And to make devouring his essence easier, I opened my real fleshy mouth, which to it, looked like an infinitely deep abyss that was sucking him in and not letting go no matter how hard it tried.
As I watched the sinister aura that clung to the surface of Asty’s body started to get stripped away, starting from the tip of her tail, I sucked it all up deep into the recesses of my soul, where I would then violently tear it to shreds and truly devour it.
All the while, Morrigan stood calmly and watched as I ate the spirit up into me, ripping it out of Asty’s body, and instilling immense fear into the spirit.

I don’t know how long it took, but by the time I ate up every last shred of the spirits soul, I was exhausted.
And when I checked my [SP], I wasn’t surprised. I had used up just over eighty percent of it.
I fell onto the bed itself in exhaustion next to Asty, who was currently lying there unresponsive.
The worst part of all of this was the evil spirit was trying to harm me from the inside. It wasn’t working of course, but it certainly was annoying.
It knew that there was nothing it could do to sway me, so now it was just rampaging within my soul, trying to break it even just a little.
"That was an impressive Display Traytora." Morrigan complimented and she came over to the bed and patted me on the shoulder.
"Uhh..." I couldn’t exactly respond as I was too tired to do so. So I just laid there and turned my head to look at Asty.
’At least she’s safe and sound... I’ll let her rest before waking her up...’ I thought as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
