Chapter 286: Divine Intervention

[Ding!]

[You have changed your [Subclass: Smithing] to [Profession: Enchanting].]

The moment that this change happened, I felt a twang of pain within my soul.

[Error. Unable to accommodate change. Retrying...]

"Aaagghhh!!!" This process was like a splitting headache, except it was within my own soul and it was literal instead of figurative.

"GGaaaaaggghhhhH!!!" I gripped my head and fell to the floor as my head felt like it was shattering to pieces.

[Warning! Soul fracture imminent. Unable to accommodate changes. Restarting process...]

’Nooo... Don’t restart it, just stop it!’

(Meanwhile, In the Serpentine Haven)

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT’S MY FAULT?" Asmodeus screamed at the top his lungs with an unbridled fury.

"YOU’RE THE ONE WHO GAVE HER THAT SHITTY SOUL SCROLL! WHY WOULD YOU GIVE HER SUCH A DEFECTIVE PIECE OF JUNK?" And shouting back at him in equal fury was Astraa.

"HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE ME OF SUCH A THING!!! I ONLY GAVE HER THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!"

"YET HERE WE ARE, WITH HER DYING BECAUSE OF YOUR FALLACY! YOU FAILED TO GIVE HER THE BEST SOUL SCROLL, AND INSTEAD GAVE HER THE PROTOTYPE OF THE MODERN VERSION!!!"

Their arguing literally shook the heavens, threatening to make them collapse from their voices alone as they kept on raising their voices at one another.

It got so bad, that the Cristian god, who goes by the name of Yesh came and intervened.

"SILENCE!!!"His voice boomed across the realms as his body appeared in this realm.

As his body descended to the same level as Asmodeus and Astraa, his form turned from one of a mote of pure light, into an incredibly wise looking old man with wrinkled yet delicate white skin, or was it black? No, it was interchanging constantly.

He wore a pair of wooden sandals and a pure white toga that flowed gently despite there being no wind up here. It was as if his very presence demanded reality to fold around him and make his bearing unable to be ignored.

He had a long wavy grey beard that flowed down to his chest and swung in rhythm with his robes. The hair on his head was the same in that it flowed down to the middle of his back.

Behind him was a giant halo with a clock inside of it, yet it also had varying sized spikes going along the edges that glowed brightly, shining with his overflowing Divinity.

His very presence demanded attention, which is why there was now silence as he appeared before Astraa and Asmodeus.

Yesh was one of, if not the most powerful Gods of creation, and the two Deities knew this, which is why they shut up.

Astraa was a new Goddess and had absolutely no means of fighting against Yesh.

But Asmodeus? Well he was trembling in fear right now. Because he had seen things that not even Astraa knew about from way back when.

Asmodeus knew about Astraa’s past deeds and her rise to Godhood, but that was only one side of that story.

The other side is why even Asmodeus dared not defy Yesh. Why Lucifer gave up on his plans of overthrowing his father, and why so many of the old gods were either dead or sealed away in the old lands for eternity, never to be seen again.

Yesh’s eyes were furrowed in displeasure. Which meant that he was angry. And after what happened back then, every Divine force, whether they were on the positive or negative side of the scale, knew not to anger him.

Yesh took a deep breath and relaxed, as he knew that he couldn’t talk to Asmodeus while he was feeling this way.

*Sigh*

He sighed and began talking.

"You both are idiots. The Soul Scroll is not something that can be defined by whatever you think defines it. The Akashic Records manage the function of all Soul Scrolls to work in their own ways that are unique to the individual. Meaning that both of you are wrong."

He then turned to address Asmodeus, "Asmodeus, I know you only want what’s best for your daughter, and that’s a wonderful thing, but you have to remember, that you can’t control everything in her life. And with a life so long, she’s bound to suffer."

"She’s suffered enough already..." Asmodeus’ hands trembled, this time not out of fear, but out of sorrow for what he’s seen her daughter have to face, even if she doesn’t remember it anymore.

Yesh lowered his head and offered his own sympathies, "Yes, I agreed that she’s been through far too much for someone her age. But there’s nothing you can do about that now."

"I know... But I just can’t bear to see her keep on suffering like this..."

*Sigh* "I can understand your sentiment, my child..."

"You can’t understand..." Despite knowing he shouldn’t anger Yesh, he couldn’t help but be angered by his words. "You’ve never created something personal like I did with my wife to make my daughter.... You’ll never understand..."

Yesh did not get angry, and instead, his face simply drooped as he knew that these wrods, although they stung at his heart, were true.

He may have created everything, from the heavens themselves, to the humans that he cherished, but Asmodeus was right. He had never created a life so intimately with such a personal connection.

Even with his own ’children’ know as the angels, he never felt any real kinship. Sighing in defeat, he admitted this.

"You’re right, I don’t understand. But that doesn’t mean I can’t understand your pain, even if only to a certain degree."

"Tell you what, I’ll fix this problem for your daughter if you do a little favour for me, okay?"

"What?! Really?!" Asmodeus screamed excitedly at the proposition, but then immediately turned sceptical. "Why?"

"Relax, I’m not asking you to defy any rules, except my own, so don’t worry, I’ll look the other way for this. Besides, you can’t afford to think to make your decision, since your daughter will die soon. Do you accept these terms?" Yesh extended his hand.

And to Asmodeus, that hand felt like the manifestation of a mortal making a deal with the Devil, because to some extent, this was that.

But looking down into the mortal realm, he could see that he had no choice.

"Fine, I’ll do what you want, so long as it doesn’t involve harm to my daughter in any way." He grabbed Yesh’s hand and shook it.

And the moment he did, he could feel something bind itself within his soul, something he never thought he would ever feel from this side of an exchange.

It was a soul contract, and he had just made one with the most powerful being known to all the Divine realms.

Yesh smiled warmly and chuckled lightly as he extended his arm and opened his palm, pointing it at Traytora as he said, "That would be counter intuitive to my end of the bargain. Besides, I would never so such a pointless action, you know that."

The moment he finished speaking, a dual-coloured sphere of light that glowed half gold, half dark crimson, appeared in his hand.

Said light then shot out a beam that pierced though the heavens and down into the Illuminati’s secret hiding spot, which was actually a separate dimension that could only be accessed by those who knew where to look.

But obviously that wouldn’t stop beings like the three deities gathered in this spot.

The Illuminati obviously noticed this beam but couldn’t do anything about it as it travelled through the walls, floors and ceilings of their building and straight into the highly secure inheritance room where Traytora was and instantly enveloping her soul.

This light then tempered her soul, making it more robust and fixing it to some degree and also improving her Soul Scroll to accommodate the changes needed to resolve the issue that started this mess.

Once everything had been resolved, Yesh stopped shooting the beam of light and retracted his hand to hold it behind his back with the other one gracefully.

"There, I’ve solved all of her issues, fixed her soul, levelling it up a bit also, and even granted her an increased mental fortitude, so that when she does recover her memories, she hopefully won’t delve into absolute insanity and become a monster."

Asmodeus was shocked, he honestly didn’t think it would be that easy, or that simple.

And for probably the first time in his life, it had been so long he’d forgotten if he’d actually done this before, he got down onto his knees and prayed directly in front of Yesh.

"Thank you, lord, for saving my daughter."

Yesh chuckled at this display, finding it amusing since this wasn’t what he was expecting, but took it gracefully nonetheless.

"It’s no problem. I’m happy to have helped. You’ve Grown, Asmodeus, into a fine man. Better than Lucifer. I’m proud of you."

Hearing those words from Yesh, Asmodeus started to cry.

He had heard words of praise before, but they only ever came from those he saw as beneath him, because they were. They were weaker than him in every sense.

The only person who’s words he truly cared for were his wife’s, and his daughters. But hearing Yesh say this, he gained a newfound respect for the all creator.
