A Serpent's Tale
Chapter 268: Bad Day

Chapter 268: Bad Day

As soon as Morrigan entered the room, I had to recount every detail once more. When I finished the room fell silent.

Miss Amoranaa waited for Morrigan to come to speak and the teacher stood to one side as well.

"Tell me, can you remember what they were talking about?" Morrigan asked the teacher.

"I remember the young man screaming before talking about cons-"

"Stop! I’ve heard enough. Never bring up that topic in front of Traytora, ever. Do you understand?"

"R-Right. I understand."

"You can go back to your teaching now. We’ll deal with this situation from here." Morrigan quickly had the teacher dismissed.

She left and silence descended upon the room for a while.

Eventually Morrigan spoke to me, "I promise I’ll make sure that nothing like that ever happens again. We will personally look into this matter and make sure it never happens again." She assured me.

"Wait, when you say ’we’ do you mean the two of you, or do you mean you and..." I didn’t finish that sentence since she would know what I was going to say.

"It’s fine, she’s one of us. Why do you think I’m here? If not for us, this place wouldn’t be able to operate as it does."

"Hold on, does that mean the entire Institute is also..."

"That’s correct." Miss Amoranaa confirmed. "This Institute is under the Illuminati. You can’t tell anyone obviously, not even the royal families."

"O-Okay. But why? Like, why is the Institute backed by the Illuminati? And why don’t the royal families know about it? Are they not part of the Illuminati?"

Morrigan took this chance to explain and answer all my questions.

"You would be correct, the royal and even most of the noble families are not part of the Illuminati because we do not find them worthy of it. Simply put they would use it for their own gain and ruin the world. That’s not why we exist."

"And that brings me into your initial question of why. And the reason being is so that we can enforce a certain way of teaching so that the world can continue functioning in a way that is better for it, without corruption and greed taking control and causing it to collapse."

"And this Institute isn’t the only place like this, we have multiple organisations around the world that do the same. This is the reason we exist. To keep the order of the world and make sure that it thrives forever."

"Wow... I had no idea..." I was shocked. I had no idea they had their hand so deep in the waters of society that even the royal families are unaware that they’re being manipulated.

"Of course not, we never told you, nor did we get a chance to. Besides it’s not like you needed to know any of this anyways."

That made me think, "Wait, then why did you tell me now then?"

"To be honest? You’re terrifying. We can’t kill you because that would anger your father and that alone would spell our doom. Then there’s your potential, which is quite frankly even more terrifying than your father."

"Really? You have that high of an opinion of me? Or my potential at least?" Did they really think that I could get that strong?

I mean, now that I think about it, I probably could, given what my Bloodlines are. But I don’t have a reason to become as strong as a god.

Morrigan stood her ground, reaffirming that she did believe what she said, "We do. You have the blood of two deities within you. That alone would normally make you a demi-god by default, but for some reason, it hasn’t. Then again, you weren’t born this way so I’m not surprised."

"I think we’re getting off topic here." Miss Amoranaa butted in, and she was right. This conversation was going somewhere it didn’t need to. "Traytora, for now, you don’t need to worry about punishment. I’ve already heard enough to understand that you have done nothing wrong."

"Thank you, headmaster." I thanked her, my head lowered with chagrin.

"You can leave now, Morrigan and I have some things to discuss in regards to how to deal with this and how best to deal with your future, for everyone’s sake. If you have no more classes, you are free to go home now." She gestured towards the door, and I knew that I had no choice of whether I stayed or not, so I left quietly.

When I left, I said goodbye to Miss Amoranaa’s assistant, and went home. After everything that has happened today, I don’t really feel like doing anything else.

Evening came and Everyone else had come back from their own schooling for dinner and to hang out like usual.

David Ash and Asty found me in the library and brought me to dinner in the dining hall.

They asked me where Lily was and I told them I had let her out to the red-light district at her request. It was pretty obvious what someone like her was going to be doing there.

But they could also tell that something about me was off. I tried to brush it off but they insisted so I brought them back to my room once more and told them about what happened in class today.

Upon hearing what happened they were visibly upset, but once I told them that it was the Duchess’ nephew who started all of it, their moods deflated immediately.

They clearly wanted to beat up the brat themselves, but clearly they couldn’t or else they’d probably get into trouble.

And I didn’t want them to do anything like this on my behalf. I told them that the headmaster herself had excused me and would deal with this personally.

"You sure that everything will be okay? I mean this place is run by the Duchess. If she get’s angry at you she could just have you thrown out." David asked in fear of the Duchess’ retaliation.

"Don’t be stupid David." Ash berated. "The Duchess won’t do anything like that, it’d harm her reputation. Besides, from what I hear, that bastards only here because his parents bit off more than they could chew."

"Oh, I think I heard about that." Asty commented.

"Wait really? You heard about that?" Ash asked in shock that Asty actually knew about something like this.

"Yeah, when my old dad got drunk one night, he fell asleep and started talking in his sleep about this."

"You remember what he said?" David asked curiously.

Asty took a moment to remember before answering. "Umm... He didn’t say a lot, just the same as what big sis Ash said."

"Well that’s unfortunate. Maybe he wouldn’t be such an annoying bastard if his parents were around." I mumbled in grievance because of how annoying he was just by being in the same room as not just me, but anyone.

"I don’t think that would solve the problem. He’s over a hundred years old now if I remember correctly And I don’t think being under the Duchess’ household name now makes it better." Ash said, elaborating on the problem a bit with whatever she knew.

"Well, he kind of ruined my day, so I’d like to get some sleep now because I’m mentally exhausted." I told everyone.

"Sure, we should probably get going now anyways. Goodnight Traytora!" Ash politely listened and left with Asty in tow.

"Bye big sis!"

"Yeah, have a good rest. Oh, what about Lily?" David asked just before he left.

"Eh, I have no classes tomorrow. I’ll go and see her then. I’ll tell her you said hi." I muttered absentmindedly as I got out of my school clothes and got under my covers for the night.

"Right... Goodnight."

And with that, David shut the door and turned off the lights, letting me drift off to sleep.

The next morning. I woke up feeling refreshed mentally. I checked the time and it was half past nine in the morning.

’Man I slept for a long time. Nearly twelve hours seeing as I went to bed at around the same time.’ I thought to myself as I pulled myself out of bed to go and clean myself up for the day.

I went to the baths, which were pretty empty and actually spent a while in there just relaxing. Getting out after half an hour before going to get breakfast.

Everyone else had already left by now since they had school, and that made me feel a little lonely.

I ate my breakfast in silence. Only hearing the sounds of myself and a few others eating as time went by rather slowly.

In the end, I barely managed to get through half my food before it went cold, so I binned the rest and went out to find Lily because I knew that she would always be there to comfort me whenever I called.

So, I made my way over to the red light district and tried to use her Demon Core Crystal to locate her and found her passed out in a back alley.

It just so happened that this was the same alley I brought her to yesterday where I... ’Dispelled’ my lust.

And she wasn’t the only one here, there were three futa’s two men and one woman. She still looked like a Goat-Kin by the way.

Seems like her transformation doesn’t wear off. And even if it did, it doesn’t seem do wear off all that quickly.
