Chapter 261: Instant Promotion

I think I know which option I’m going for.

And the first thing I tried doing was just coating my hand in mana and slashing at the mana connection.

Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to work and my hand just passed through it like there was nothing there. Which physically is true.

But I saw that the mana coating my hand did make it stir a little.

The connection itself looked like a floating whisp of rope, that was made from a sparkling pink gas.

And the fact that my hand coated in mana was enough to at least affect it in some small capacity meant that I was on the right track at least.

Given that my hand seemed to have no effect, that meant that I had to rely purely on my mana to sever this connection.

My next thought was to just send a slash of mana at it but that didn’t work either.

I also thought that it would be more difficult to do this from this side of the desk, so I climbed over and reached the succubus.

And the moment I did so, I could see her glaring at me with hatred. Not that I cared. Something else that I noticed also, was how quiet the place was.

Looking back over the desk and even using it to see over the crowd, I could see that the speel had affected everyone in the building. It even went upstairs where I would assume the rest of the guild staff and the guild leader was.

There wasn’t much point in finding out if that was right though, as they likely wouldn’t be able to respond. For now, I need to focus on the task at hand.

I tried to stop the flow of mana, but that didn’t seem to work at all, even when I surrounded her entire body with mana.

The next thing I thought of doing was to invade the succubus’ body, no, not with my cocks, but with my mana and forcibly stop it.

Unfortunately for me, I had no idea on how exactly I was supposed to do such a thing, so it ended up failing and I also accidentally damaged some of her inner organs.

She’s a fairly high level demon though, so I’m not worried about her dying from something like this.

With no other ideas coming to mind, I took a moment to stop and think about how to go about this.

’How am I supposed to stop this flow of mana? Just regular methods don’t seem to work, so there has to be something more to this than meets the eye. Even with my [Divine Eyes] I can’t see a solution to this dilemma. And I don’t want to just wait this out, that’d take too long and be extremely boring.’

"Hmm... Mana... Sever... Hmm..." Even after nearly half an hour of thinking I couldn’t figure out how to stop this flow of mana.

’Maybe I’m thinking about this the wrong way? That’s clearly a stream of mana coming from the succubus and is affecting everyone. And regular mana isn’t enough to stop it.’ I began to rethink my thought process to see if I could get anywhere then.

’I can also clearly see that it’s infused with [Lust], but I don’t want to out myself by using my own. Everyone’s attention seems to be on her and if I do something like that, they might suspect something. I could probably get away with it but it would still probably create a feeling of distrust among the adventurers if they were to find out what I am.’

’Still, I need to sever this connection. But how? Everything I’ve tried until now hasn’t worked. My own mana is useless...’

"Wait... MY mana is useless, but hers..." What I was thinking is honestly rather absurd and might put me in danger, but it was worth a shot.

I went over to the still paralysed body of the succubus and sat down next to her, wrapping my tail around her because I can.

Then, I reached out with my hand and closed it around the flowing stream of mana, which had gotten a little bit thinner in this time, not a lot, but I was barely able to notice it.

Anyways, the thing I was planning to do, was to inject my mana into hers and basically take command of and possess her mana with my own.

The risk of doing this of course was that she could possibly do the same thing to me, but I had no way of knowing until I tried.

So, without further ado, I closed my eyes and began to infuse her mana with my own.

And I could feel it actually working, but at the rate things were going, I wouldn’t be successful anytime soon, as any part of her mana that I imbued just got pulled along and dispersed before it could fully do the magic I wanted it to.

At least it worked, which meant that I was going in the right direction, I just had to change how I was going about it.

Seeing as I couldn’t just forcefully take over the mana itself, that meant that I had to come up with some other way of taking control of the mana.

’Maybe I need to filter it through my mana? Instead of trying to stop it, I need to filter it somehow? It’s worth a shot.’

With that in mind, I proceeded to use my other hand to grasp a lower portion of the stream that was closer to the main source, the succubus’ body.

And with my hands in place, I created a mana construct and turned it into a filter that turned the mana inside of this pipe like construct into my own, and it seemed to be working.

The mana from the succubus was slowly coming under my control, and soon I had done it.

I had managed to take command of her mana. The moment I did so, I stopped the stream from flowing anymore by simply dispersing it after I had taken control.

And within nearly an hour, everyone in the building had been freed from this spell, and the flow of mana ceased, allowing me to finally catch breath and relax.

For all of thirty seconds before the person who appeared to be the guild manager came rushing down to wee what was happening at last.

When he saw the succubus lying paralysed on the ground, he rushed back up to the first floor and came back with a collar. Putting said collar around the succubus’ neck, which I saw stopped her from harnessing her magic.

It wasn’t needed now since she was still paralysed. I’d made sure to keep her like that the whole time as well. But it was more of a safety precaution for when it wore off.

Once the buff and gruff hairy looking man had ordered the other receptionists to take him away, he turned to me and ordered me to follow him to his office.

Once there, he asked me to take a seat and relax. To which I did the first half of his request but not the second.

Either way, we were now both sat down as he started to work away at some paperwork.

"So, you must’ve just registered, am I right?" He suddenly as he stopped working and looked up at me with his eyes squinted in a judging gaze.

"Yes, that’s right. I just got registered as a Silver ranked adventurer under the recommendations of someone named Berkez." I explained everything in detail now so I wouldn’t have to later.

"I see. There seems to have been a mistake then." He remarked as he leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Eh? Mistake? What kind? Was I not supposed to be registered as a Silver rank or something?" I hurriedly questioned. I hope I’m not in trouble.

"No. Given what you’ve just done, I’d like to place you much higher."

"Huh?"

What? Higher? Why?

"Um, can I ask why?"

"You have dealt with a very serious problem that I nor anyone else in the guild have been able to do deal with. That Succubus has been a plague on our guild, taking power from the adventurer’s here in secret."

"I mean, that’s kind the point?" I noted in an uneasy tone, knowing that that wasn’t what he wanted to hear.

"I know, I know. It’s what allows them to keep on living and all that." He seemed unbothered by my comment. "But she’s been a problem for exactly that, taking away their power and leaving them more vulnerable out on missions, leading to more casualties than there should be."

"And what exactly am I here for? Besides the fact that I stopped her."

"To promote you of course. What you’ve done is deal with an immense threat that could’ve gotten stronger beyond out control. We’ve barely been able to hold her back here. So, as thanks, I’d like to promote you from Silver to Platinum!"
