A Serpent's Tale
Chapter 219: The Treasury

Chapter 219: The Treasury

I tried swiping every which way to see if there was some sort of secret, but that was just a waste of time.

And seeing that I could come back here any time that I wanted, I decided to give the treasury a visit. Everything in it is mine now after all.

I slithered around the pedestal holding the tablet and went over to the place where the entrance to the Treasury should be and found nothing but a wall there. When I placed my hands on the wall to inspect it though, some words appeared on them, telling me to press the pendant against the wall to access it.

I assumed that I could just press it up against the wall in its current form which was that of a ring on my middle finger, next to the Dungeon Core ring.

And so, I held my middle finger against up and pressed the serpentine ring up against it. And as soon as I did so, the wall shook and parted and I was greeted to the sight of a giant vault full of hundreds, if not thousands of valuable artefacts, minerals and items.

Immediately to my left was a literal mountain of gold of gold coins sat behind another pedestal, which had a navy-blue coloured Gold Pouch, which mean that it could hold up to a hundred thousand gold pieces worth of money.

I instantly crawled over to the pouch and took it off. And when I did, I felt something off about it. It felt heavier than people said it would. I took a look inside and found it empty, and that’s when I realised that the rope used to open and close this thing was made of gold.

That was when I remembered, there was this special brand of Gold Pouches that would be lined with a golden rope and branded with a label on the underside of the bag in gold also. And so, with shaky hand, I turned the bag upside down and sure enough, there was a branding there, but it wasn’t one that I recognised.

Looking back onto the pedestal with which the bag was on, I noticed that there was a plaque upon it that read; "Imperial Doubloon Banking." I’ve never heard of them before in my life so they must either have died as a company or are now another secret organisation.

My money is on the former as I doubt that they would be able to remain afloat. Probably filled itself up with nothing but greedy bastards that kept taking and taking until they finally crumbled.

Nowadays, there is no ’official’ bank or anything as we all follow one system throughout the world, which is gold coins. And money is just passed around now really. There is still of course poverty and such things, but I don’t have to worry about that anymore. Not with all this money!

*Cough*

Anyways, I don’t know how much more this bag can take from the initial hundred thousand. A standard navy-blue Gold Pouch can, as I just said, carry a hundred thousand gold. But a bag like that with a golden rope to act as its seal, can carry up to ten million.

Meaning that this bag can carry up to ten million gold at least, but the intricate details on this emblem signify a better quality. Because this emblem is also made of gold, while most other Gold Pouches have a Silver one at best.

That means that this pouch is much more valuable...

And that’s only one of many things within this vault that I have yet to explore.

Looking over my shoulder to the rest of it I can only wonder, what else is here? What items will I find? And how much stuff is there?

I’ll look later, for now, I’m going to stuff ten million gold into this thing and see if I can add more after.

Holy shit... That was tiring... And I’ve made a fucking mess of the place trying to do this.

I tried to scale up the mountainous pile of gold but just accidentally caused it all landslide, which I then had to clean up and stuff my mess up into the pouch. Which took hours. And that barely put a dent in this thing. Maybe like five percent at most.

How long have I even been in this inheritance for now anyways?

I should hurry up and get out of here or else those people might get worried or something.

With that in mind, I grabbed another few handfuls of gold and found that this pouch could indeed hold more than ten million gold inside of it, yet there was still this huge ass mountain of the stuff just sitting there. I could try and see if I could hold all of it but I would be here for an eternity if I tried that.

Now that I had sufficient funds for the foreseeable future, I went around and browsed the other items here.

Most of them were just artefacts from long, long ago and had no other value apart from a historical one. Some of them had a mystical power to them, but they didn’t really catch my eye apart from their unique designs.

As I was browsing the rows upon rows of these things, I decided to make a connection with the Imperial Doubloon Banking pouch, just so that I could add another possible safe measure to it, and even if that doesn’t work, I’ll still be able to find it again hopefully as I will still have a connection with it.

I tried it out and to my surprise, it actually worked. I got a notification from my Soul Scroll that said that I had now formed a connection with this pouch. And with this connection formed, I found out that this thing could hold up to FIVE HUNDRED MILLION GOLD.

That’s insane, I don’t know If I’ve ever even heard of such a thing before. I’ve heard of pouches that can hold up to a hundred million, but not five hundred million.

That’s just an insane amount of money. And I hadn’t even reached ten percent of this thing’s capacity, hell, I haven’t even reached five percent.

And as I was deliberating over this, I came across another section within the vault after wandering around aimlessly that was filled with a bunch of priceless magical items.

Cores.

But not just any cores. Mana Cores.

And not the type that resulted in me getting a Mana Heart, but real, naturally formed Cores.

Elemental one’s to top it off. And there was a variety of different elements and qualities. There were one’s the size of a marble, the size of my head, a fist and everything in between.

And there were two that greatly piqued my interest.

A Fire Core, and a Spatial Core.

I picked the two up and stuffed them into my [Spatial Storage] for later consumption.

And after that, I basically went on a treasure hunting spree, gathering Items I thought could be of great use to me and stuffing them into my storage.

Eventually though, I came off of my high and put a fair amount of them back, leaving me with just a small selection of stuff left with me.

Those items being some magically enchanted clothes, a couple of spare Gold Pouches, which I filled with some gold in case of an emergency and stuffed them all into my [Spatial Storage].

A couple other things that I nabbed for fun were these really cool looking weapons that I wanted to learn how to use which was called an Ōdachi, and this incredibly ornate looking sabre. I also took a smaller looking Ōdachi, which was called a Katana. I only picked that one up just in case the Ōdachi was too much and too large for me to handle.

All of these weapons had the added enhancement of being enchanted with the element of [Fire], which was great for me.

And all of these items that I took with me, I form a connection with through the resonation method. I could always rescind this connection anytime I wanted if I so desire.

Any who, with my ’shopping spree’ now complete, I decided that it was about time to leave this inheritance and head back into the Illuminati halls.

I know that I haven’t explored everything, hell, I hadn’t even explored half of this vault, but I knew that I could always come back.
