Chapter 213: My Other Heritage

Chapter 213: My Other Heritage

That scream was so loud that it echoed within the halls for a few seconds.

And when I turned back to see who it was as it was far too masculine to be Morrigan. And looking back over my shoulder, I could see the gold trimmed robe of Thalor as he was hunched over with his hands out, grasping onto nothing.

He was just standing there, not doing anything and just staring at the open chamber absentmindedly.

"Th-Thalor! Did you have to shout so loudly?" Morrigan yelled in annoyance as she rubbed her ears inside of her robe.

Thalor didn’t respond as he just kept on staring at the dark entryway to the hidden chamber. I waved my hand in front of him but her just seemed to be in a permanent state of shock.

Seeing that there wasn’t anything I could do to snap him out of it, I looked over to Morrigan and asked her, "So, what now?"

"Now?" She took a moment to contemplate, looking between me and the secret chamber a couple of times before answering. "Now, I think you claim what’s yours. This was clearly meant for you."

"Wait... This is... Mine?" I stammered as I looked into the dark chamber, unable to believe what I just heard. It made sense, but I just couldn’t believe it.

"That’s right. I believe that only a Naga with that necklace of yours could open this hidden door. And maybe only the blood of her true descendant would work. I’m not sure about that one, but some of the legacies here work like that." She said with some hesitation.

"True... Descendant..." My thoughts lingered on those word. ’Was that really true? Was it really possible that I was a direct descendant of the Goddess Astra?’ My body trembled at the possibility that this was true.

"Well? Go on then." Morrigan ushered me inside enthusiastically, wanting to see what would happen.

*Gulp*

With a nervous gulp, I started to slither into the pitch-black chamber, slithering past the initial wall and letting the darkness fall upon me as the light from outside seemed to not be able to penetrate this blanket of darkness.

As I slinked further into the dark chamber, I realised that I could still see myself despite there being no source of light in this place, and when I turned back around, the entrance I came in from was just a single spec of light.

But how? I had only been in here for less than half a minute, how could it possibly be that far away already.

But as I was thinking about that, the light from what I thought was the entrance moved. And no, I didn’t accidentally slip or something causing it to move it my field of vision, but it genuinely moved. Like, I had to lift my head up and back the other way just to keep an eye on it.

Thankfully it didn’t seem to be going far... I think. I couldn’t really tell in this pitch-black space.

Then, as the light slowed down, it flashed brightly, blinding me for a second and forcing me to close my eyes. And when I opened them again, the room around me had practically transformed.

Instead of pure darkness, the room now resembled that of the temples I saw back in the desert. Sandstone and obsidian structuring, lined with gold and mosaic tiles with ornate designs on each and every one of them.

And in the middle of this room was a pedestal with an ancient tablet on it. Inscribed on said tablet was a bunch of words, but they were in a language that I had never seen before, yet, for some inexplicable reason, I could understand them.

It read; "To whomever is reading this, hi! It’s me! Astraa Arizaraa! Your personal ancestor! Bet you weren’t expecting this were you? Anyways, onto the main thing. You are here by either some string of destiny or by pure luck."

The message ended there, but I knew that there was obviously more to this than that, so I fiddled around until I accidentally swiped my hand from the right side to the left, causing the words inscribed on the tablet to shine before they started to shift and change into something different.

When the shining faded, the text continued; "Regardless of how you arrived here, welcome to my legacy. Here, you will obtain a portion of my wealth, my power, and my knowledge. Everything here is at your disposal, and can be used however you like."

I swiped my hand and moved onto the next... Page? I guess...

"But before you can do that, there are some things that you need to do to prepare yourself beforehand. The first of which being that you need to infuse a small sample of my blood with your own to truly unlock my powers. You can find a vial of my blood on the next page by swiping both hands from the middle to the sides."

’I guess these are considered pages in a book.’ Either way, I slid my hand to the left, moving to the next page and let it form first, just in case it ruined anything before I placed my hands in the middle before dragging them to the edges.

The tablet then shook ever so slightly, and I could see three distinct lines forming on it, forming what I think is called a Roman I if I recall correctly?

I wasn’t sure what to do here. Maybe I should’ve read the text on that page before I did this. Unfortunately, it disappeared when I did that prior action which got me to where I am now.

With nothing else to go on, I decided to try and see if I could move any of these pieces that seem to have been cut, and to my delight, they did. The pieces that were sandwiched between the top and the bottom pieces slid outwards, revealing a hidden compartment inside.

’What’s with all this secrecy? Actually... Never mind, it’s the Illuminati, this is their thing apparently.’

Inside the compartment was a decently sized, thick leather book. It was rather plain looking with a brown hide and only a shiny gold button with a snake emblem on it holding the book closed. I undid the button and opened the book.

Turns out half the book was just hollow pages. Literally.

The pages were cut out, leaving only the edges in tact to keep up the appearance of a book. In place of the missing pages, which appeared to be made out of papyrus, which was rather hard to come by nowadays due to the lost manufacturing method, was three sealed glass vials of a red liquid.

And upon seeing that red liquid, I felt my body heat up with a burning desire unlike anything I’d ever felt before. It was almost as if my body was screaming at me to devour the vials right then and there, but I just about held back from doing so, so that I could use the method to properly absorb it as described by the actual pages in the book.

And it was a good thing I held back too, as the first real page said that if I just took the blood as is and ingested it, it would at best give me fifty percent of its power, and at worst thirty percent, which isn’t bad but the method in the book would make sure that I could absorb all of it, or at the very least ninety nine percent of it.

I took a deep breath and set the vials of blood in the compartment and began reading the method to refine it, and infuse it into my own and awaken the true power of my second heritage.

...

I’m still in disbelief that I’m the descendant of a goddess, and the progenitor of my own race no less.
