Chapter 198: A Normal Farm?

Chapter 198: A Normal Farm?

"Now? Simple, you move on. Carry on heading back to the desert and reach that city you wanted to get to." Kronia answered my question.

"What? Oh right... Why did I want to go there again?" I questioned my own motives for a second before remembering, "Oh! Right, I wanted the Duchess there to adopt me, how could I forget. But... Why am I here then and not the desert?"

"That’s something part of the memories I sealed within you. So don’t try figuring out why, just accept it and continue on with your journey, okay?" She encouraged.

"Oh... Kay? But, which way is the desert? I can’t remember."

"Ah, right, I may have sealed some extra memories just as a precaution. I forgot that there would be moments like this. Not to worry, I’ll guide you along for a bit. Come, follow me." She instructed as she got up and started walking.

With no better to do, I followed her down from her porch and back onto the ground. She then led me along the edge of the wheat field until we reached a point in the field where the fields parted, and in the gap between them, was a path. No duh.

We then travelled down this path for a while until my stomach started to grumble slightly from hunger.

"Oh dear. I’ll hurry up a bit then, we should be able to make it to the main farm by then." She said as she somehow sped up.

The way she moved was weird. It was like she was moving at the same speed and with the same form and demeanour, yet she was still faster than before, and I didn’t want to be left behind, so I sped up a little bit as well to catch up to her.

After a long while, with my stomach grumbling several times throughout, we eventually made it to a clearing, where there were a few buildings dotted around the place.

There was a rather large farm house, fit for like several families with numerous amounts of children in them. Then opposite that, was a barn which seemed to have a bunch of tool and equipment in it from what I could see from the open door.

Then there was a smaller building opposite where we were, but before I could focus more on it, I heard someone shouting.

"Grandma! Get back!"

I look over to the house and see a woman running over to us in a rush and preparing an attack spell.

"Lyra, stop." Kronia commanded, the kindness in her voice completely disappearing.

"Wha- Grandma, don’t you see that- that THING behind you?"

"Lyra, that’s enough. You know damn well that I can defend myself better than anyone. I’ve been saying this for ages now, you don’t need to be so provocative towards strangers like this. Besides, she’s only passing through." Kronia berated the woman named Lyra.

"B-But-"

"No! No buts! Now apologise to her and make her something to eat! She can be considered my guest while she’s here, and she’s hungry." Kronia demanded of who I assume is either her granddaughter, or someone whom she considers as such.

As for Lyra, she stood there trembling in anger and just silently went back into the house. Whether or not she actually made me some lunch or not, I didn’t care.

"I’m sorry about her, she’s a family member from family that moved away and was besieged by demons, leaving only her alive, and although I’ve tried my best to help her get over it, as I know not all demons are pure evil. You’re an example of that. But no matter what I do or say to her, she still hates demons."

"It’s fine, I understand that demons don’t exactly have the best reputation in the world."

"Thank you for being so understanding. Now, why don’t you come inside and meet my family, I promise they won’t hurt you, and not all of them despise demons anywhere near as much as little Lyra." Kronia invited me in, and although my stomach was rumbling for food, I declined.

"Sorry, but I just don’t feel like going in there. I don’t feel like I should."

"Hmm... I see..." Kronia seemed disappointed by my answer, and she could see my look of shame for it. "Don’t worry about it Traytora, it’s nothing you need to feel bad about, so don’t worry about it, okay?"

"Okay..." I responded, my stomach still grumbling in hunger.

Kronia sighed and said, "Wait here, I’ll go and get you something to eat."

"Alright."

After she went into the house, I felt something was off. And that’s when I noticed Lyra was standing in the middle of the clearing, staring at me with hatred.

"You..." She muttered with aggression.

I was confused, but before she could say anything else, a frying pan appeared out of nowhere and smacked her in the head.

"Pteh!" Lyra then Fell to the floor unconscious.

I just stared at her in confusion. What happened? Where did that pan come from? Am I supposed to do something now? Do I just wait? Where did the pan go?

Wait... Why is the pan gone? It was there just a second ago.

I didn’t have time to dwell on it when Kronia came out with a tower tray, with finely made sandwiches on the bottom, some sweet treats on the middle tray and refreshments on the top.

She also completely ignored Lyra who was lying on the floor. And she was still there by the way, she hadn’t mysteriously disappeared.

And as I was focused on Lyra, a set of furniture appeared out of nowhere before me. There was a table and both, the rocking chair and the chaise from earlier.

Kronia set the tray down on the table and sat in the rocking chair and said, "Eat up, it’s all for you."

I stared at the scene before me in absolute bewilderment.

First, and angry child appears in front of me and falls unconscious from a frying pan that then disappears. Then, Kronia comes out and ignores said child and somehow manifests furniture to appear before my and serves me some food.

Just what the fuck is going on here?!?

I look between the chaise, the food and Kronia in the same bewilderment, and she just continues to smile at me lovingly, all the while gesturing for me to partake in the meal she got for me.

"Wait a second, how did you get all of this out so fast? There’s no way you made all of this in those few minutes alone." I questioned her sceptically.

She merely kept on smiling and gave me a wink, still gesturing to partake.

Seeing that this weird and mysterious woman wasn’t going to relent, and knowing that I can’t do anything to go against her, I just sighed and resigned to sit in the chaise and began to eat.
