Chapter 130: Meeting the Council

Chapter 130: Meeting the Council

It didn’t take long for the most of the other council families to show up with their own entourage.

Besides the Velphine’s, there was the Cani eagle family as well as the Darkhide wolf family that I barely remember Cythistia mentioned when I first came here.

The other families that I wasn’t familiar with was Fyyas family, which was a family of Dryads, which are known for being rather reclusive.

Then the was the Qeith family and I had to do a double take as I did not expect that. When Runaq saw me he waved his hand to say hi, I waved back of course, though a bit absentmindedly as I was not expecting him to come here.

Yes, I’d researched etiquette, but not the actual families themselves.

Anyways the next family that came in was the Auris family, a family of unicorns with a white-furred lower body and sparkling iridescent hair with a spiralling crystal horn coming out of their forehead.

After them came the Myryn family, a family of harpies. Then came the Grimwills, a family of griffins. Then there was a kitsune family with the surname Saki.

That left us with two more families that had yet to arrive for some reason.

"Hmm, the Qilin family has yet to arrive, and the Honeydale’s are late as usual as well." The patriarch of the Darkhide family commented.

"Hmm, the Honeydale’s I understand but why are the Qilin’s late?" The patriarch of the Saki family.

"Who knows? In the meantime, should we make sure that everyone is filled in on the situation?" I heard Tobreos suggest to the other patriarchs, though I’m not sure why he would say that since we all know what’s going on, unless there are some that don’t know or they were keeping some information from us.

It turned out that it was the former and not everyone knew what this meeting was about. And just as we finished, the Qilin family finally arrived, and it seemed that they were only called that because they had no surname, so everyone just called their family by their species name.

"Oh? I knew we would be late but it seems that we were later than we expected. Still, at least we’re earlier than they Honeydale’s." Their patriarch remarked.

Their family all took their places in the stands and we all wated for this ’Honeydale’ family to arrive. It took another half an hour for them to arrive, and when they did, they were scolded by the patriarchs for their tardiness.

Their patriarch, a small bee queen fairy of some sort snapped back at them. "Hmph! do you even know how hard it is for us to wake up at this time of year?"

Tobreos retorted with, "So? I have someone who has the same problems and we made it here first! Hence you have no excuses."

"Ha? What do you mean? Who in your family wakes up late? If they did, you wouldn’t be here first now would you." The small bee snapped back.

"Well, that’s because she found a way to get around it, and if she found a way, so can you." Tobreos retorted once more.

"Hmph! And who is this person? I don’t think I’ve heard of them." The queen bee asked sceptically.

"Traytora." Tobreos called out to me, indicating for me to introduce myself.

I got up and bowed to the queen and introduced myself. ’Greetings, my name is Traytora.’ I kept it nice and simple as I wasn’t sure if I should say anything more, else risk offending her.

"Hmm? Traytora?" She spoke my name, seemingly familiar with it, which she should be.

"Do you seriously not know who she is? I gave all of you a memo so you don’t lose your shit, remember?" Tobreos barked angrily, something none of us expected from him.

"Oh shut up old man, I am in no condition to read any of your stupid messages." The bee bit back.

"Stupid!?! Listen here you tiny fur-bean, even when it isn’t winter I’m still superior to you in every way despite my age!" He clamoured.

The other patriarchs tried to calm them down but only ended up getting involved in the argument themselves, and soon all of them were fighting over nothing.

Everyone else looked at one another and just looked extremely confused. This was not what any of us were expecting when we came here today, we all thought we would just simply discuss how to deal with the demon infestation in the forest.

This pointless argument went on for another hour until someone from the Grimwills family snapped and slammed his fists down on the stand in front of him and shouted.

"ENOUGH!"

It was indeed enough to make all of the patriarchs stop their bickering.

"If you twats are just going to continue arguing over nothing instead of trying to figure out a solution, then I’m getting the fuck outta here, and I can assure you that everyone else shares the same sentiment!" He roared out, which thankfully made the patriarch calm down.

"We apologise for letting you all see that display, we try not to do that but it always happens when all of us gather here for some reason." The Grimwills patriarch apologised on behalf of all of them.

"In that case, allow me to fill everyone in on the full details of what exactly is happening over there." The patriarch of the Fyyas family started the meeting.

With their connection to nature, they could essentially live forever, they could also basically survey the forest at any time no matter where or when, provided they were connected to said forest.

They informed us that they had this sudden and mysterious increase in their forces, leading to the current crisis.

The only thing we had to decide now was how we would deal with this. Obviously, we would be eradicating them, but how. That was what we were here to discuss today.
