Chapter 636: After Halloween

The office door creaked open.

"Hello," Felix Harp stared blankly at Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Harry and Ron took a step back. "Not sleeping at this late hour... wandering around the professor's office door... is there something you need from me?" Behind them, Ginny rolled her eyes, her gaze jumping between them; Luna looked dreamy.

Upon hearing the term 'wandering around,' all questions were choked back.

Hermione hid her stern look, holding up Valen, and said in a high-pitched tone, "Oh, Professor, we came to return Valen to you... do you know where we found her? She ran quite far."

Felix blinked, muttering, "I was wondering too. Just in the time it took to have a drink of water, the little one disappeared... Thanks."

He reached out to take Valen, but Hermione pulled her hand back, letting him miss. She held Valen, and both of them stared at him, seemingly shocked that he could escape so easily. Valen excitedly fluttered in Hermione's arms, scolding him, looking quite distressed.

"What is Valen saying?" Hermione asked knowingly.

"Thank you for bringing her back," Felix glanced at the indignant Valen, calmly saying.

Hermione puffed up her cheeks. The only one who could be infuriating was the professor himself. She let go of Valen, handed her to Felix, and after some thought, said, "Um... Professor? I've accumulated some questions about ancient magical texts recently. Can I come to consult with you tomorrow?"

"...Don't come too early. I want to sleep in," Felix dryly replied. So, Hermione, feigning innocence, stepped back and didn't say anything more. He shifted his gaze to the others.

Harry and Ron shook their heads quickly. They were brought here by Hermione, and although they had questions, now wasn't the right time. The sky was already showing a hint of gray-green, and the sounds of wind and howling wolves from the Forbidden Forest made them just want to return to their warm and comfortable beds; they had training tomorrow.

Ginny waved her hand, indicating she had no questions. Luna calmly asked, "Professor, does the Crumple-Horned Snorkack really exist?"

Felix hesitated for a moment and said, "I can't give you an answer. Perhaps it really exists in some corner of the world—" Luna's eyes, protruding outward, widened in surprise. "That's what I think too! That's why I chose the Magical Creatures Protection class!"

"—Well, that's good. But be prepared; not all searches have good results."

"Like the Resurrection Stone?" Luna asked.

"Yes," Felix said slowly, "but not quite the same. I promised to keep an eye on it for you, remember?"

Luna smiled brightly.

"Oh, yes! I remember," she said. "Maybe Ferenz was right. When the time comes, it will appear on its own. Just like the things I lost." Ginny said with a straight face, "Those weren't lost by you. Someone deliberately hid them to tease you."

"You're right," Luna said nonchalantly. "Good night, or rather, good morning. I need to go back to organize the letters from my dad and me. My dad sends two letters every week this year, and I can't remember them all, so I have to put them away for now." She floated away.

Ron stared at her back.

"What letters?"

After sending everyone away, Felix closed the door. When he turned around, he saw Valen jumping onto the sofa, holding a quill in her hand, writing in the air. In the blink of an eye, she had written two lines, and there was no sign of stopping, as if preparing for a lengthy discourse.

Felix glanced at the first word, 'fraud.' He walked over, smiling, and grabbed Sniff, saying, "Hey, what are you practicing writing so late? Sleep, sleep."

Valen looked at the accusation letter getting farther away from her in despair. "Bang!" The bedroom door closed, the magic lamp went out, and only a few crooked lines of words shone in the darkness, proving that tonight was not peaceful.

The castle turned into an icy landscape, snowing for two days in a row, covering the grounds with a thick layer of snow knee-deep.

Felix wrapped himself in a blanket, lazily lying on the sofa. There was a letter on the small table, from Carlotta Pinkstone, calling him 'my dear, yet-to-be-met comrade.' Apparently, Carlotta thought she could persuade Felix to stand on her side. For this, she might have taken many lessons these days, emphasizing his contributions to the magical world, and now she 'eagerly hopes to meet.'

She also warned Felix to be cautious, saying she's 'currently not very convenient' because the evil Ministry has sent two people to monitor her—one clumsy and overly enthusiastic, the other cold and full of aristocratic hypocrisy.

Felix only thought for less than half a minute before picking up a quill and writing a brief letter to Tonks, inquiring about her recent situation.

The owl brought back a reply in less than half an hour.

Felix took out the map and looked for a while. He found the two names at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade village, and surprisingly, he also saw Collins. However, he couldn't connect her with 'aristocratic hypocrisy.'

A knock came from outside the door.

Felix squinted at the door, which opened on its own. Hermione jumped in cheerfully. It was her second day coming here, claiming to seek advice on applying magical texts. But Felix had been waiting for her to ask about the incident of accidentally entering the Hogwarts campus in the forties.

"Please sit, Miss Granger."

Felix stood up, wrapped in a blanket, went to the bedroom to change clothes, and came back with two cups of hot cocoa. "Thank you," Hermione said. She pointed to the letter on the table. "They were in Hogsmeade last weekend. Oh, sorry, I accidentally saw it when I moved the table."

"Hogsmeade? Who are you talking about?"

"Tonks, Collins, and Carlotta Pinkstone," Hermione took a small sip of hot cocoa, happily squinting. "Ron bumped into them in Hogsmeade last weekend."

Felix nodded, showing no interest in discussing it further.

"Professor," Hermione took a deep breath, "if you don't intend to contact her, it's better to tell her directly."

"Now is not the time," Felix muttered.

He thought for a moment and said, "Help me write a reply. Just say—um, I can't go against the Ministry. Rules are important—yes, tell her that." Hermione quickly wrote a short message, handed it to him, and Felix smiled, "Very good."

When the owl flew out of the window, Hermione said, "She won't give up easily."

Felix shrugged. "But that's a matter for later. Well, Miss Granger, let's continue discussing magical texts. Currently, only two people in the world have them. With such a small sample size, many conclusions can only be speculated and verified later...

Do you think it has been helpful to you?"

Felix wanted to know the impact of magical texts on the 'ordinary people,' meaning those who were not masters of magical texts.

"I can't say for sure," Hermione thought seriously. "I've been busy filling in my understanding of magical texts for over a month. Feedback is scarce, but I do feel that my control over ancient magical texts has increased... just don't know if it's an illusion. Other students have made significant progress too."

"How many ancient magics have you mastered?"

"Counting the two taught in class, a total of five," Hermione held out one hand.

Felix fell into thought.

"You may not see results in the short term. When you look through the magical texts in the future—I believe you will— if you suddenly have any inspirations, don't suppress them. Let your rationality take a break and rely on your own inspiration. There might be unexpected gains."

"Yes, Professor."

Close to noon, Valen, wrapped in a small blanket, came out drowsily, looking like she was wearing a fur cape. She walked over, weakly greeted with a meow, as if saying hello, and then climbed onto the sofa. Hermione scratched Valen's chin.

"Are they training?" Felix asked. They were currently chatting about topics unrelated to magical texts.

"Oh, yes," Hermione smiled, and once she started, she couldn't stop. "They train really hard—Harry, Ron, and Ginny. Because the original Quidditch commentator, Lee Jordan, graduated this year, Luna is preparing to apply—no, she has been selected. She's the only candidate... Harry is scared."

Felix blinked and smiled too. Everyone knew that Luna was a very special girl, and no one knew what her hosting style would be like. Considering her familiarity with half of the Gryffindor players, Harry and the others would undoubtedly be most affected.

"Professor? Recently, Bonas provided me with some information about the survival of humanoid races. I found—"
