Chapter 36: The One Hundredth Beginning II

ASHER BLACKWOOD

Dramon Jardel?

The name rang through my mind as I remembered the Jardel family from my world. But what was a Jardel doing here?

I saw the injuries on his body and I knew that they weren’t normal.

It seemed like he was running low on energy. The energy I sensed from him was essence.

I put my hand on his chest and poured the essence flowing through me into his injured body.

Cough!

He coughed as the energy flowed into his body and healed some of his injuries.

"Th-thank you." He mumbled.

I smiled. "You’re welcome. I’ll go get help so don’t move."

I ran back towards home and found just my father there.

"Javir?! Why are you in such a hurry?" He asked.

"I found an injured person, close to the caves." I replied.

"The caves?!" His eyes widened and I saw a bit of shock in them as well.

He dropped all he was doing and said. "Show me."

We both ran to the place without stopping to catch our breath.

When we got there, Dramon still lay on the ground with most of his injuries healed by essence.

I looked up at my father’s face and his body was shaking in pure surprise and shock.

"A human?! A human in our territory?" My father muttered.

I put my hand on his chest as if holding him back. "We shouldn’t worry about that father. He’s injured and needs help."

My father sighed and carried the human on his back. We took him back to the inn and put him in one of the rooms.

Our customers were surprised that we brought a human in.

’Is this going to be alright?’

’A human in our territory? What are they thinking?’

These were some of the thoughts that ran through their minds as I looked into their eyes.

Their expression showed disgust and disdain for the human and pure disappointment towards I and my father.

My father stood at the counter and then sighed, his eyes wandered around the room and then he finally spoke.

"Don’t worry, we only brought him here to treat his wounds and when he’s better we’ll send him back to the human territory." He explained to them.

The disappointed eyes faded and everyone went back to their business immediately.

I sat in the room with the man Dramon Jardel. Why would he be here? This was my one hundredth life which means he is an ancestor of Aethera and Arin.

I heard a subtle knock on the door, the energy emanating from the person outside was familiar.

"Come in."

Tahmut opened the door and walked in, his killing intent was suffocating.

"What are you trying to do?" I asked.

"A human in our territory means a breach on the agreement and as such the only punishment fit for such a breach is death." Tahmut replied.

Memory fragments flowed through my mind. The human and djinn races were always at war with each other.

Ultimately, leaders of both sides decided to form a pact that neither of them would crossover into the other’s territory and the penalty for faltering is death.

"I found him severely injured in our territory and low on energy, something has to be going on in the human territory for him to seek refuge here." I replied.

Sigh.

Tahmut sighed and suppressed his killing intent. "But I’m watching his every move." He turned to leave and then stopped.

His energy erupted once again.

"What the hell are you doing?!" I screamed. My father barged in and held Tahmut back.

"Are you trying to deceive us?" Tahmut asked.

His question wasn’t directed at me, but at Dramon Jardel who’s body flinched at Tahmut’s words.

My father’s arms relaxed and Tahmut broke out of his hold and walked menacingly towards Dramon, his killing intent spreading throughout the room.

"Stop!" I stepped in front of him with both my arms stretched out in opposite directions.

"F-fine." Dramon Jardel sat up with both his hands held up in surrender.

"Why were you in our territory?" Tahmut asked, his voice cold and unemotional.

"There’s a civil war currently going on in our territory and I was sent here to die as punishment for betraying the current administration." Dramon explained.

Tahmut’s expression lightened up a little. "War?"

"Yes, the previous administration was overthrown in a coup d’etat. The new administration is filled up with dictators and won’t stand for anyone who opposes them."

"Is that so?" I asked sarcastically for some reason. Maybe it was due to the feelings harbored in this body towards humans.

"Yes, it’s true. I fought with everything I had but it still wasn’t enough, they pushed me up to the border and left me for dead." Dramon continued.

"I crawled my way up to that cave where you found me in hopes that you guys would look past our grudge and help us."

Tahmut laughed out loud. His voice echoed throughout the entire room. "Us? Help you? You must be dreaming."

"Yes, he’s right. We are under no obligation to render any help to you humans." My father added.

"You territory and the entire planet is in jeopardy as well." Dramon revealed.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"They are currently preparing to overthrow the administration of this territory and moving on to the other human lands."

"Do you think us weak?" Tahmut asked. His eyes had a bloodshot expression, his bloodlust and killing intent erupting.

"N-no I do not. But for them to say they want to control every territory on Earth, don’t you think they have the power to do so?" Dramon asked.

Tahmut’s expression calmed down and he stared blankly at Dramon. "What if you’re a traitor who was sent here to lure us and eliminate us?"

"Why would I betray those who nursed me back to health?"

Tahmut sighed and left the building.

My father and I led Dramon down the stairs into the main dining hall.

"What you said about not being a traitor, is it true?" I asked him.

I looked over to my father and saw him preparing food for our guest.

"Do you not believe my words?" Dramon smiled.

I looked at him coldly, not knowing what to believe.

My bloodlust and killing intent erupted, my father turned to look at me and his eyes widened in shock as every other djinn present had fainted from the pressure.

"If you’re not a traitor then welcome aboard. But if I find out you are, then I shall make sure that even in death you’ll beg for your life."
