Chapter 34: Tahmut

NARRATOR’S POV

The djinn stood in front of the both of them. They cowered in his presence. Asher had felt this sort of presence before and this was on the level of a high level demon.

"What do you want with me?" Asher asked.

"You are trespassing." The djinn replied. Asher turned his head to Anna who was still finding it difficult to breathe in the djinn’s presence.

"Anna! Are you alright?" Asher beckoned to her but she wasn’t able to reply. Her entire body shivered from the amount of pressure the djinn’s presence was exuding.

"Don’t worry about her," The djinn assured. "I’m not putting out as much energy that could kill her so she will survive."

Asher tried standing up, his knees shaking and his back aching from the pressure. He was finally able to stand on his two feet.

"I don’t have any sort of business with you." Asher told the djinn.

"You’re the one who destroyed my world. The world which I created so that we djinns could live peacefully, away from you humans." He explained.

"You guys eliminated every other lifeform in every planet and you’re angry because I wiped it all out?" Asher snapped and started walking towards the djinn.

"You’re brave, I’ll give you that." The djinn laughed. "My name is Tahmut and I shall be the one to end your life."

"Hmm. I’m not going to die." Asher replied.

"Well, you’ve died before. I watched you die once before." Tahmut said and then attacked Asher, hitting him with a punch that would be hard enough to destroy a mountain.

The punch sent Asher flying hard as if one threw a stone and he hit the wall so hard it crumbled like rotting wood.

"You’re pretty durable. Not a single injury on your body." Tahmut complimented as he clapped his hands.

Asher stood up and brushed the dust from his body and attacked once again at speeds that could be comparable to teleportation.

Tahmut dodged and hit him hard on the head with a chop. Asher fell to the ground with a loud thud.

His entire body ached, he was still under the strain of the pressure Tahmut emitted.

"What’s the matter?" Tahmut asked as he picked Asher up from the ground with one arm. "Tired alreadym?"

Asher spat in his eyes and then kicked Tahmut in the head with a fast-paced spinning kick which made the djinn drop him and stumble backwards.

"How did that feel?" Asher asked and jumped at Tahmut, striking him repeatedly with immense precision.

Tahmut took on every attack, his head and body swerving in the direction the attacks took them to.

"Deathstorm." The tornado like energy formed on Asher’s palm. The same energy that was used to erase the existence of the previous beast.

Although this technique was not on the level of Oblivion, it had a weaker effect than oblivion.

For oblivion, it would erase it’s target conceptually and make sure it never came back. But for deathstorm, if the target had an anchor that would revive it, it would come back into existence.

The tornado grew in size and Asher aimed it at Tahmut. The devastating energy swirled and roared.

Tahmut smiled and a single word escaped his lips. "Null."

Asher’s energy dissipated, the energy formed from deathstorm vanished and Asher could not feel his connection to essence any longer.

"Wh-what did you do?" Asher asked as he couldn’t sense the essence any longer.

"I cut us off from the world." Tahmut explained. "With my ability, ’null’ I can effectively separate my target from the world within a certain area."

He smirked and walked towards Asher who’s entire body was shivering.

"No one except the gods should have enough power to do that." Asher said to him. His voice echoing his feelings of shock and disbelief.

"Yes, you could say that." Tahmut smiled. "But I stole this technique from the gods themselves."

Asher’s eyes widened in despair and for the first time in a long while, he felt fear.

"I told you didn’t I? I would be the one to end your life." Tahmut stated and then attacked Asher once again.

His superior speed and strength within this separate world was alarming. He hit with such precision that Asher was taken aback by his skills.

He looked back and saw that Anna had fainted on the ground, her chest still moving softly which indicated that she was still alive and breathing.

Asher got up from the ground only to be met by another heavy punch from Tahmut which sent him flying upwards.

Tahmut didn’t let him fly far as he dragged him and slammed him into the ground causing giant cracks and dust to arise.

Asher coughed up blood upon his collision with the ground and Tahmut was not relenting as he stomped down on Asher’s stomach which caused him to cough up more and more blood.

"You should not have picked a fight with me." Tahmut said while continuing his assault on Asher. He continually stomped on his stomach causing the human to cough up blood from his mouth.

"You should have run away the moment you felt my presence but no. You overestimated your own abilities and here you are now, on death’s door with no one to save you." Tahmut turned to see Anna running towards him.

He raised his hand and stopped her in midair.

"Women are immensely annoying." He swerved his hand violently to the right and Anna was sent flying in that direction.

"I thought you said we were cut off from the world, so how are you able to use your abilities?" Asher asked.

"I meant my targets were cut off from the world not me." Tahmut smiled and then had a serious look on his face. "You would have known that you shouldn’t face me if you remembered who you once were."

"What do you mean?" Asher asked perplexed.

"All of us higher beings know that you have lived up to a million lives and in one of your lives you were once a good friend of mine." Tahmut explained.

"I still don’t get it." Asher said.

"Let me show you." Tahmut put his thumb on Asher’s forehead and his eyes glowed with a

n illusory light, Asher’s red eyes turned white as memories from one of his past lives resurfaced.
