Chapter 33: Deathstorm II

ASHER BLACKWOOD

"What do you mean by use deathstorm?" I asked Anna.

"It means what you think it means, you have to use that ability to obliterate it or it will keep coming back." She explained.

"I do not want to interfere with this." I started. "If I do, your abilities won’t grow."

Anna felt downcast but then her face suddenly lit up. "It doesn’t matter for now. You just deal with this and I’ll go help the prisoners."

I sighed and walked towards the beast who was roaring and stomping his way towards me.

I stretched my hand forward and the energy ran out. It circled like a giant tornado, moving round the beast.

I could see it’s flames dimming. From the corner of my eye I could see that Anna had freed the prisoners and they were all human.

I smiled seeing as she’d done the job perfectly. "Deathstorm."

The tornado moved up and then dissipated immediately.

"That takes care of that." I said as I dusted my hands. I turned around to see Anna gathering wood.

"What’s that for?" I asked her.

"Look over there." She pointed to the west and I could see that the sun was setting. "It’s almost nightfall and we need a fire to get through the night."

I nodded and then joined her on the quest for wood. When we had gathered enough we came back to where the prisoners sat down, each and every one of them looking lean and malnourished.

"You guys haven’t had anything to eat have you?" I asked.

And most of them shook their heads to say no.

I sighed and stuck my hand through space into my dimension. I brought out the beef I had previously kept within it.

It was large and would be enough to feed every single person here, even the little children.

I looked through all the people that were previously held captive here and was able to determine their exact number.

"Anna." I beckoned and she walked briefly towards me. "There’s a total of 218 people here. I’m sure the meat I gave them would last them for tonight but what about tomorrow?"

"We’ll figure it out in the morning. All we have to do is defeat Solaris right?" She asked.

"Yeah, that’s our current mission. But seeing how the both of us struggled with just a normal phoenix beast, how do you think we’ll be able to win?"

"You’ll use deathstorm and we will win." She concluded and then smiled at me. She turned around and went on to tending to the people.

I laid down and thought about our mission. The others had drifted off to sleep and then I got up and wandered to the edge of the forest, to scout our perimeters.

I looked forward and saw a huge number of Phoenixes and then went back to where we slept. I was stronger than them in a one on one but with all of them together, I was certain that I would lose.

The next day came swiftly. Anna and I had woken up and were preparing to continue our mission.

"Hey, Radkiel." I thought in my head as I set up a telepathic link between the both of us.

"Yes?" He replied.

"Could you take care of these people?" I asked him.

"Yes I can." And then a portal opened beneath each of their feet and they fell through.

"What’s going on?!" Anna screamed at the top of her voice as then turned to me seeing as I didn’t react to what was happening.

"It’s Radkiel. He’s taking them somewhere safer." I explained to her.

"Oh! Then why didn’t he give us a warning?" She asked.

"He did. He told me." I replied.

"How did he tell you? He’s not even here."

I pointed at my head and then spoke. "We communicate telepathically."

"Huh?"

"Our minds are connected. The both of us can speak to one another without us seeing each other." I explained.

"How is that possible?" She asked.

I was somewhat annoyed that she was bombarding me with questions at this point in time when we had a crucial mission but I had to answer nonetheless.

"Essence is the bridge between worlds. Using essence, I can bridge the gap between the higher world and the lower one, then use that bridge as a medium to speak with Radkiel." I explained. "And it’s also the reason I’m able to create an entire dimension."

"A dimension?" One of her eyebrows was raised in surprise. "What do you mean by that?" She asked.

"Where do you think the meat you ate last night came from?" I asked laughing. "Since essence was the energy used to create the worlds, I’ve been able to harness it in a way that I’m able to create my own."

"That’s pretty interesting." She complimented.

"Yeah, although what I can add to it is limited. Right now, it’s just an endless void of nothing." I told her.

"Ok since the people are safe, we can go further and eliminate these bastards." Anna stated furiously.

I noticed her anger and frustration. I knew how she felt. I would feel the same way if I came face to face with Draneeve.

I turned and then the two of us went on our way. We walked farther into the land, to the place I had scouted the night before.

"If we charge in without a plan we’ll both be dead." I said but the moment I turned to where Anna was supposed to be, she was gone.

And then I heard a loud boom, I snapped my head forward and saw flames erupting like giant volcanoes.

"What the hell is she doing?" I asked and ran towards the scene.

I saw several Phoenixes evaporating which was shocking to me. I turned to Anna and asked. "What did you do?"

"With the explanation you gave me, you said essence was used to bring all of creation into existence which means it can be used to destroy creation as well." She explained.

"And now I am using that same essence to power up my flames to the point where it can burn concepts." She added.

I stared at her in surprise. "You’re a genius." I exclaimed and then we heard a loud noise, as if shockwaves were being sent to us.

Millions of giant flaming beasts stood in front of us. "This is what I was afraid of." I said and then stretched my hand forward. "Deathstorm."

The dark tornado like energy enveloped a large amount of the beasts, erasing over a hundred thousand of them.

"Let’s carry on." I smiled at Anna.

"Dragon’s Breath." Her flames took the form of a dragon and eliminated up to a thousand beasts.

"Asher this is a waste of time. I’ll incorporate my new abilities into supernova." She said as she started charging up her flames once again.

"Supernova." The giant mass of flaming energy grew up to the point where it covered the entire army.

She dropped it on them and all of the beasts were erased, destroyed and turned to nothing by her flames.

"That’s that." She smiled at me.

Then we felt it. We both fell to our knees, the pressure from the being that was coming was unbearable.

I knew what kind of species exuded such type of energy but I didn’t think it was possible for any one of them to be alive.

I could see that Anna couldn’t breathe, the only reason I was holding on was because of my adept control of essence.

"Hang

in there Anna." I said to her and then looked forward. There it was, the being that made the both of us fall to our knees.

A Djinn.
