Chapter 26: New Life

ASHER BLACKWOOD

I’ve been here for the past one year. The djinns in this world do not welcome the existence of humans.

The moment they sense a human he is absolutely done for. Radkiel and Gabriel gave me a task to eliminate all the djinns as they do not welcome humans into their world.

Since I’ve been here, I have killed twenty million djinns and it seems like the more I kill the more they respawn.

"This is getting out of hand." I said as I sat down beside a tree, drinking water from my water can.

I looked up the tree to see if I could get some fruits. I climbed up and saw apples.

"Didn’t know I could get these here, most of the trees I’ve seen only produced coconuts."

I plucked a whole lot of them and started eating. There were no animals nor insects here and the djinns are more or less non corporeal beings and so the moment I kill them they disappear.

And then I heard a ruffle in the leaves. I stopped eating, dropping the remaining apples to the floor to scan the area.

I let out the Essence coursing through my body to form a sort of domain. It covered the entire island but what was close to me was something I had never faced since I was sent here by Radkiel.

The aura it emitted was unholy and had power that could rival a high-class mage back in my previous world.

"I heard a human was here but I didn’t think it would be one such as yourself." The djinn spoke, it’s voice crackled like lightning and boomed like thunder.

I had never heard one speak before. The previous ones I had faced had lacked intelligence and therefore could not speak but only followed an age long command which was to exterminate all extraterrestrial life.

"Why have you come here?" The djinn asked, it’s voice dripping with disgust and anger.

"That is for me to know and for you to never find out." I replied and punched it on what I would call it’s chest sending it flying backwards emphatically.

I heard trees falling down and being uprooted from afar. I heard something being thrown and it sounded like a sonic boom.

A tree came flying towards me and I punched through it, utterly destroying it.

More came at me and I kept on punching at superhuman speeds.

"Impressive. For a human." The djinn stated and then it’s energy started to rise up. "With this power, you are no match for me. I am Zinjin, the highest ranking knight of the djinns."

I sighed and then joined my fingers together as if I was extending it for a handshake and then I moved my hand in a swinging motion.

"Spectral Void Slash."

The space in front of me was dissected and the djinn called Zinjin was cut in half. It disappeared into thin air.

"That takes care of that." I turned around and saw that my bag was covered with leaves and my apples were dirty.

I looked up and the tree I picked them from was on the ground. I picked my bag up from underneath the leaves and then walked to where the fruits of the tree were.

I plucked more apples and dropped them in my bag and kept on wandering.

"I’ll get the both of them for this." I mumbled. The words of Radkiel echoing through my head.

"Make sure you eliminate every single one of them." Radkiel had said back then.

"They’re not much so you shouldn’t have much of a problem with them." Gabriel had chipped in.

I sighed, pushing those annoying thoughts from my mind. I kept on walking and walking and then saw something strange.

It seemed like a settlement, but it was djinns that lived there. They lived normally like any human society.

If I went there now, I might be killed. I just need to proceed with this mission and get back to the god realm.

Two guards stood at the gates of the city. With the energy I sensed from them, they were far weaker than Zinjin who said he was the strongest knight.

I walked stealthily towards the gate. It was large, the guards stood without a clue that I was even there.

I suppressed my Essence to the end to make me seem invincible. The only thing that would give my location away would be my footsteps.

I moved at blinding speed so they wouldn’t have any time to react at all.

I killed both of them with Essence as that was the only way they could be killed.

I pushed the gates open and all eyes turned on me.

"Seems this wasn’t the best idea." I said out loud.

The djinns screamed and attacked me. I let out my Essence as a protective covering on my body and moved at blinding speed.

In seconds I had killed about one thousand djinns and more were running towards me to meet their demise.

I stopped attacking made the gesture for my attack swinging it like a sword.

"Spectral Void Slash." Cutting through a hoarde of djinns in front of me. But something ran through my mind, why weren’t there other knights or soldiers here?

The rest of the djinns still kept on attacking. They were so weak that I would be able to beat them without Essence but it was needed to even touch them.

They were coming in streams and hoardes. I kept on ploughing them down one by one.

Their weakness made me angry and I suddenly felt disgusted by it.

I allowed the Essence flow through my body. "Godspeed."

My speed increased immensely and moved so fast that it seemed like time had stopped.

I slayed each and every djinn that stood in front of me.

And then something caught my eye, a giant djinn was moving even with my speed it was still able to react and caught up to me and attacked.

I dodged the attack by a hair’s breath and the impact of it’s attack destroyed multiple settlements in the area.

"You’re fast for a human." It spoke. It was the second one I had heard speak today.

"What do you guys have against humans?" I asked.

"You’ll learn the hard way." It replied with menace.
