Chapter 154: THE SCHEMING COUPLES

Chapter 154: THE SCHEMING COUPLES

"We can’t buy food supply from black market, my king and we can’t get the merchant to sell for us, because Great Lunar kingdom has them lobbied and only allowed to sell the food supply to them."

One of the warriors reported back to the king. Dacre was not happy with the news, he almost threw the cup in his hand to his head, but instead, he crushed it.

The sharp shard stabbed his palms and blood dripped from the wound.

"You can leave," Rose said to the warrior, as she went to tend the king’s wound. She could see the anger in Dacre’s eyes and she was also scared to approach him, but she steeled her heart and did what she had to do. "Don’t be too mad, my king. We will find a way out of it."

"How?!" Dacre snapped at Rose, which he immediately regretted it, but he didn’t say anything.

Rose had been thinking of a way out of this situation and somehow, she was impressed by alpha Khaos, how he turned the table around and made Dacre unable to retort, neither the king could get away from the trap that was so obvious.

Dacre set himself to fail once he agreed that he would take the responsibility to find another source of the food supply, since he was the king and Khaos made sure to emphasize that.

If they could find a way out from this, people would remember Dacre as the king, who saved their winter crisis, but if he failed, he would be a failure in their eyes.

"The ships." Rose took Dacre’s hand and wiped the blood from his palm gently. "We know the location of the ships and we can do something about it."

"What do you mean with something?" Dacre pulled his hand away from Rose, he stood up and walked away to take a towel, wiped his own blood.

"Stealing the food supply will be a best idea for now and we can store it somewhere, distributing it again after a few days and it will be ’your distribution’ this time."

It was a very simple idea. Dacre knew that Khaos would have thought about that and take the necessary precaution to protect the ships.

"No." Dacre shook his head. "I have better idea in this matter." A flicker of malicious intention in his eyes when he stared at the ground that covered with snow out there from the window in his bedroom. "You can leave for now and keep your eyes on the people."

Rose wanted to say something, but in the end, she decided it was not the right time to voice out her opinion. She had learned when the right time to speak and read the room. She needed to remind calm in this situation, because at this point, she was not only trying to outsmart alpha Khaos, but she needed to get full control over king Dacre as well.

"Yes, my king." And with that, Rose left the room.

"I know they will aim for the ships." Khaos kissed her lips when Zuri warned him that the king might attack the ships. "I have a surprise that will wait for them there."

Currently, Khaos and Zuri were in bed. It was already late at night, but they had not yet fallen asleep, as they talked about a few things and the more they talked, the more they were awake, as if they could talk about a lot of things without running out of topic, even though it was some random shit that didn’t make sense at all.

"What is it?" Zuri asked, her eyes lit up. She liked it, scheming together with Khaos was so much fun.

Khaos opened his mouth, but he changed his mind and decided to tease Zuri a little bit. "You tell me."

"I don’t know."

"Guess."

Zuri pursed her lips, but she fell into a deep thought, thinking of the answer. She propped herself on top of Khaos’s chest, while the alpha played with her long, black hair that cascaded down on his chest, twirled it between his fingers, waiting for her answer.

"Will you attack them? If they tried to do something with the supply in the ships?"

"More or less," Khaos replied absentmindedly. "I am going to kill them."

Zuri raised her brows when she heard that. "And you are going to disclose the fact that the king tried to steal the food supply from you?" Zuri chuckled. "You are so wicked."

Her soft laughter echoed inside the room and Khaos found himself liking the sound of it. "That’s, if the plan went smoothly. In case like this, you need to expect the unexpected."

"Right." Zuri was new to this kind of scheme and she had a lot more to learn, but she was willing to do that.

With Khaos, she felt like she had found her own person and it meant a lot to someone like her, who thought she was alone in this world. When people betrayed her and they used to have hidden agenda with her, at the very least, with Khaos, she knew his true intention.

"What do you think about the princess?"

Zuri shrugged her shoulders. "I think I can handle it," she said nonchalantly. "But, I don’t like the way she stole a glance at you. She thought, she was being subtle about it, but every time she did that, I felt this urge to gauge her eyes out of their sockets."

However, once the words came out of her mouth, she became self conscious, as she shut up immediately and stared at Khaos, trying to gauge his reaction, but the alpha didn’t seem to care.

"If you wanted to do it, be more secretive about it."

That was the only advise that Khaos gave to her and after that, he hugged her, patting her back and told her to sleep.

The voices in Zuri’s mind were relatively quiet whenever she was with him. She liked moment like this.
