Chapter 94: Chapter 93: A Blur Of Shadow

"So you have chosen death," The pirate said, shaking his head in dissapointment. He looked at Felicia, the woman dreaded all over the seas, and who recently got her spark of attention after getting the [Hydra’s Tear].

She looked stunning, but in this moment, he could tell thatvhis threats had no visible effect on her, and he found it quite odd.

"Men, kill her." The pirate ordered, as to which his crew enthusiastically responded, brandishing their weapons in that moment.

’These fools, I almost feel bad for them, how can they be so blinded by greed?’ Zoey thought, raising a brow as she tilted her head curiously for a moment, before a physcotic smile bloomed on her face.

’No matter, I don’t mind getting rid of people like them.’ She thought, her hands gripping her sword as she brandished her weapon in response, gripping it tightly as it pulsed with a soft blue hue, the element of water thriving within the blade.

"Yaaaah!" The pirates roared as they charged at Zoey with their weapons, their feet pounding on the ground as they rapidly approached her.

There was nowhere for her to run, as this alley was dark and led to a dead end. But she wasn’t afraid one bit, she found the challenge almost amusing in fact.

’I never thought I’d actually get to enjoy this type of cruelty, but alas, they attacked me first~’ Zoey thought, blocking a sword strike with her sword, the sound of steel clashing against steel ringing out for miles.

The battle raged as the pirates swarmed her from every direction, swords were swung, guns were shot, and the sounds of pirates grunting and fighting became a song that played out in the deafening silence of the night.

Zoey dodged their attacks with little to no effort, not even bothering to use her [Heightened Senses] Talent at all as she sidestepped, and parried every attack that ever came toward her with clean accuracy and precision.

Her blade cut through them easily, their blood and flesh being torn apart by her absurd strength, the cries of pain and death filling the air.

Zoey sitestepped an attack, before countering with a swift roundhouse kick that send the pirate flying hard, crashing into the wall.

The pirate captain looked at the unconscious pirate that was kicked by Zoey, their face shinking in dissapointment as they sighed deeply. He looked behind him, where two more pirate captaind stood, ready for their orders.

They had agreed on working together to kill Felicia and take the treasure of the [Hydra’s Tear] from her, agreeing to split the treasures they would find inside Larcov’s Ancient Tomb.

"Let’s step in, our men are getting sl-" Before he could complete his sentence, a hand immediately grabbed his face as Zoey appeared infront of him in the blink of an eye.

"Your turn~" She whispered into his ear, her tone playful but filled with malice.

With immense force Zoey slammed the head hard into the ground, the floor breaking apart as stone and rubble flew everywhere, the two captains too stunned to have reacted in time, immediately leaped away in suprise.

"What the hell!?" One of the two pirate captains exclaimed in suprise as he looked back at his men, and his eyes immediately widened in an instant, as the horror of Zoey’s brutality came fully into view.

Blood painted the ground red, it’s spread far and wide. His men were slaughtered, cut down in the most brutal of ways.

Heads were decapitated, bodies were cleanly cut in two, her cruelty knew no bounds, and they were completely certain, that this Felicia wasn’t the one they knew.

"You bitch! I’ll kill you!" The first captain grew furious, his body trimming with power as he lunged forward.

’Wait, he died?’ Zoey thought, looking at the face of the captain she grabbed, now burried deep underneath the rubble. When she pulled her hand back, it was covered in blood, a deep crimson.

’I wouldn’t have to actually crush his skull, have I?’ She thought, leaping into the air as she dodged the attack of the first captain, landing behind him.

The first captain grew more and more furious as he saw that his attack missed, his aura flaring up more and more dangerously. The second captain watched the scene infront of him in deep panick, things weren’t supposed to go like this.

"Look, Vladimir," The second captain spoke, trying to get the man’s attention, "We need to escape immediately, we can’t handle her-" Before the second captain could finish his words, Vladimir interrupted him.

"SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!!!" He roared, his eyes blood shot with rage as he stared at Zoey who had a mocking grin plastered onto her face, the kind that pissed him off to no limit.

"My men, my brothers died here! Their deaths won’t be in vain, I will kill this bitch before I take that damn treasure from her!" Vladimir said, his breathing uneven.

’...’ Zoey’s expression turned serious for a moment, she looked at the second captain sternly. She could tell that he was immediately inflicted with fear, and that he could sense her strength.

Meanwhile Vladimir was practically fuming with uncontrollable rage, just from his gaze alone Zoey could tell that he wanted to tear her to shreds. But that wasn’t ever going to happen.

"You two," Zoey started, her voice calm and collected. She lowered her blade at her side, it’s edge dripping with the blood of her fallen victims, echoing on the cold floor.

’I know that forgiving people in this situation is bad, but maybe I can try to spare them.’ She thought, showing compassion for the first time in while.

"I’m going to let you both leave with your lives if you turn around now, understand that what I’ve done here tonight was out of self-defense. But if you don’t submit to my request, I won’t hesitate,"

Zoey abruptly stopped her sentence as she raised her bloodied blade, and pointed it’s edge to the two pirates, her eyes gleaming with a physcotic light.

"To go on the offensive."

A moment of silence passed, her words hung in the air like a heavy weight. The tension in the air was high, thick with various emotions and thoughts that ran all over the blade.

The second captain didn’t need another minute to contemplate, while he was initially here to kill Zoey for her treasure, he didn’t want anything to do with her after seeing just what she was capable off.

"I...I surrender." The second captain spoke, shocking Vladimir as he looked at his partner with wide eyes. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing right now, they had lost their men, and this coward dare abandon him in a time like this!?

Zoey’s eyes widened in suprise for a moment, using her [Heightened Senses] to detect any feelings of malice or betrayal that could be lying underneath their words, but she didn’t find any.

"YOU WHAT!?!" Vladimir shouted, his voice filled with anger as he took a step forward towards the second captain.

"I’m sorry! But I can’t be facing that monster! I value you my life as well." The second captain apologized, before quickly running away as he dashed out of the alley with quick speeds.

Vladimir watched him go, his grip tightening around his sword with an intensity that could shatter rock, his teeth grit, his hands trembling uncontrollably.

"And you? What’s your decision?" Zoey asked, calmly leaning against the walls of the alleyway with her arms crossed, her eyes studying Vladimir closely.

Vladimir however, remained quiet, still fuming with rage.

"I’m not one to forgive," Zoey said, "But after sailing for hours, I’m feeling quite tired and I’m really not in the mood for anything annoying right now. So, are you going to surrender, or not? For if you won’t, I’ll kill you right now."

She said, her words turning cold and emotionless for a moment, her aura flaring as the air immediately became hotter.

"I don’t run from my battles, I’m not like that coward." Vladimir spoke, turning around slowly, raising his blade.

"If I die, then I’ll make sure I’m taking you with me!" Vladimir shouted as he dashed towards her, roaring at the top of his lungs.

Zoey looked at him for a moment as he approached, time seemingly slowing down as she sighed slightly. She quickly acted, grabbing onto her blade as she moved, her figure disappearing from her spot as [Grace Of The Wind] was activated.

SLASH!

Vladimir’s vision was obscured as he saw his body a few metres below him, blood spraying violently like an erupting volcano, his vision starting to fade away as he realized that the fight was over within mere moments.

Before he could even land an attack on her, he was already decapitated.

Zoey appeared behind the fallen corpse of Vladimir, cleaning the blood off her sword with a swift flick, as she sighed in dissapointment. She looked at Vladimir, and the rest of the pirates that she killed.

She couldn’t let people find out about what happened here, otherwise they’ll become alerted from her sudden increase in strength.

[Fireball] was activated as a powerful flames appeared in her hand, and she immediately tossed the flame onto the bodies as they were starting to become burned to ashes, the smell of burnt flesh and smoke filling the air.

Just as Zoey was about to take her leave and find an inn to check into, a sudden movement caught her eye in the distance.
