Chapter 71: Chapter 70: Nine Hours to Survive

Zoey moved through the mansion grounds, observing the quiet place. Guards stood at the top of the walls, keeping a lookout while even more guards stood at the outside and inside of the mansion grounds.

’It’s cold, but I can handle it.’ Zoey thought, feeling the night breeze bite on her skin.

"Miss Zoey? What brings you here?" A guard at the gate asked.

"Grant me passage." Zoey ordered, noticing how the guard wanted to say something, probably stop her, but ultimately decided against it.

The gates opened with a loud creek, and Zoey walked through, exiting the mansion grounds.

[Time Remaining: 09 Hours, 30 Minutes, 25 Seconds]

’Now then, let’s begin our search~’ Zoey grinned as she blasted into the air with her [Grace Of The Wind] Skill, bursting through the skies as she travelled a large distance.

After Zoey landed on the ground, she quickly broke a mad sprint, her feet pounded on the ground with so much force that each step caused the ground to break.

With her quick speeds, she soon reached the city, and what awaited her was a horde of monsters that crowded the streets an overpopulated population.

"Heh~looks like I’ll have some fun on the way~" Zoey thought with a grin, taking out her [Volt Requiem] Sword as lightning formed around the blade, crackling dangerously.

The zombies immediately upon sensing her dashed at her with quick speeds, running more professionally and organized, as they have gained intelligence as time passed on, becoming more stronger and mkre deadly.

[Fireball] was activated as Zoey hurled flames at the zombies, but the zombies moved and dodged the flames, roaring with their raspy voices as they closed the distance between them and Zoey, and immediately a powerful clash rang out that shocked the ground.

Slash! Whoosh! Bam!

Zoey clashed hard with the zombies as she swung her sword, thunder crackled and roared as [Volt Requiem] made contact with it’s enemies, shocking multiple zombies as they were electrocuted heavily.

"Tch!" She grunted as she had to block an attack with her [Stone Carved Shield] from a zombie, skidding back a bit as she eyed her dangerous opponents more carefully.

’They’ve grown insanely strong now, they’re C-Rank, and it’s difficult to take them all on. Looks like I’ll need to utilize some of my Skills here.’

Zoey thought with a sharp exhale, looks like she won’t be relying on her stats blatantly anymore, it was time for her to take her enemies a little more seriously.

[Hardened Will], and [King’s Fury] were the first two skills that were activated, a powerful crimson aura blasting around Zoey and increasing her power, her crimson eyes glowing more deadly as her aura became a bit intimidating to the C-Rank zombies.

"Graaagh!!" A zombie yelled as suddenly, long sharp, and blade like nails appeared on it’s hands, as well as it’s teeth that became as sharp as fangs, it let out a blood curdling scream that made Zoey a little bit uneasy.

"Come at me!" Zoey roared as she blasted a powerful pulse of darkness at the zombies, some managed to dodge the darkness, while one of them got hit, it’s defenses dropping significantly, meaning that she could kill it one powerful strike.

The zombies charged at her once again, and the clash resumed, Zoey battled with all she had, her powerful sword slashes, combined with the destructive lightning from the [Volt Requiem] Sword, allowed her to take down many zombies.

"!!!" The sound of sharp blades cutting through the air immediately caught Zoey’s attention as Zoey quickly blocked with her [Stone Carved Shield], th sound of steel grinding against stone ringing out.

The steel-clawed zombie roared as it began to slash at her wildly, trying to overwhelm her. Zoey stuggled, gritting her teeth. The sounds of blows ringing out, the wind clapping, the ground breaking, and the demonic howls of the zombie’s cries became a song that echoed in the night.

’Damn! This is proving to be very difficult. Fighting so many C-Rank zombies at once, especially now that they are stronger, and more intelligent, feels like I’m fighting a whole battalion of Hunters!’

Zoey thought, leaping back to avoid a clawed attack from the clawed zombie.

[Stamina: 47%]

’While my strength is great, my stamina isn’t infinite. There are so many of them, and they are all difficult to kill.’

Her thoughts drifted to her new skills, [Runes Of Power], and [Equivalent Exchange], however, she didn’t want to use those two skills just yet, she wanted to test them against the last hours of the apocalypse, and truly push her limits when she finds herself cornered.

’Hehehe~Looks like I have no choice but to run!’ Zoey grinned as she dashed towards the zombies, only to leap over them with her impressive speed.

The zombies all jumped up to reach her, but were met with flames that burned them heavily as they were pushed back down by [Fireball], she wasn’t going to let any zombie grab her.

Zoey landed on the other side of the zombies, her descend hard enough to break the ground beneath her. She grinned, looking back at the zombies that were dashing at her madly.

"Try to keep up~" Zoey said, giggling as she was being thrilled by the chase, dashing through the streets with her crazy speed, her feet pounding on the ground with rhythmic brilliance.

The zombies weren’t going to go down so easily however, as they all chased her down, dashing at speeds way faster than any human that were residing in the Apocalypse.

As she ran, Zoey’s eyes, enhanced greatly by [Heightened Senses], began to search for signs of food stores. Her enhanced her to not only see far, but see extremely well in the dark, to her, it didn’t look that dark, and it looked like it was a bit similar to daytime in her vision.

"Hmmm....let’s try the high ground." She muttered to herself, leaping high onto a rooftop. As she landed, Zoey immediately stopped and spun around on her heel, just as the zombies were leaping into the air as well.

Some of the zombies made it to the top of the roof, only to get cut down by Zoey’s blade, effectively killing them. Zombies crawled to the top, their strength breaking bricks and bits and pieces of the building, but Zoey started to take them all down, using this to her advantage to get rid of the zombies quicker.

"Skree!" The claw zombie growled from below as it sank it’s claws into the flesh of the other zombies and used them as stepping stones to make it up to Zoey, crawling slowly like a predator about to pounce onto their prey.

Immediately as soon as it came in range and pounced on her, Zoey easily sidestepped the attack, her [Heightened Senses] already allowing her to perceive the attack. She plunged her [Volt Requiem] blade deep into it’s chest, a powerful shock electrocuting it’s body violently.

"You thought you could sneak up on me? Heh, think again." She replied with a devilish grin, before lifting her sword high in the air, cutting the zombie in two, it’s lower body being the only part of it that remained in-tact.

Zoey pushed thr body to the side, wiping some of the blood that got on her face with her sleeve. She continued to finish off the rest of the zombies, killing them all before they could get onto the roof.

Once that was finished, Zoey continued her search. She leaped from roof-to-roof. After a while of searching, and dealing with annoying zombies on the way, Zoey had finally found a store...however.

The store’s condition was terrible to say the least, it’s had been broken into before, so Zoey suspected that other must’ve beem here before her. Still, she needed to check it out, what if there actually was some food inside? Anything would help, and she has a ton of mouths to feed now that she became the boss of gang.

"There’s noone here." Zoey spoke to herself, finding no signs of monsters or zombies in the store, her [Heightened Senses] Talent confirmed it as she sensed no signs of life inside.

Zoey quickly searched through the store, and luckily, while most of the food was taken, there were some that were left. Nothing fancy, but it would last them a while.

She stored all the food she found inside her [Inventory], and after searching some more, only to find nothing, Zoey was about to leave the store, but her [Heightened Senses] Talent quickly picked up movement, alerting her insantly.

Zoey hid herself behind some shelves, crouching down low as she observed a massive beast that resembled a hound.

’Wait....will it be able to detect me...since it’s senses are sharper.’ Zoey thought, cautiously observing the beast. The beast sniffed the air, slowly approaching her location. It was obvious that the beast could sniff her out, she instinctively prepared herself, taking out [Volt Requiem], exhaling sharply.
