Chapter 82: A Hard Choice

Chapter 82: A Hard Choice

Matis really felt like he had no way to express his frustration.

Those stubborn old people from the potion association... when they couldn’t reach Arix, who was in training, they blamed Matis, as he was the head of the Kering family.

They bombarded him with texts every ten minutes and video calls every hour for two days straight. He was so annoyed that he wanted to go and bombard the potion association, and with his real guns and cannons!

Magen didn’t care if Matis was having a hard time. Seeing that Matis didn’t object, Magen’s face softened a bit. He even patiently explained, "Your granddaughter has a great talent for mecha. If she is trained well, I bet you she’ll achieve a lot."

"Can she become a master?" Matis asked casually.

But Magen was speechless. ’The girl was just a toddler in this field, yet Matis is already thinking about making her fly. Does he really trust his granddaughter this much, or is he just a fool?’

It was like a teacher saying a student had good talent, and the parent immediately asking if the student could get into Harvard.

"Do you know what you’re saying?" Magen said calmly at first, but then he burst out, "Do you think becoming a master is that easy? It takes more than hopes and expectations, okay?"

Matis was scolded harshly. He rubbed his nose, feeling wronged, and said, "Magen, I didn’t mean that. I meant that if Arix doesn’t have the potential to become a master in mecha, she might not be able to study mecha peacefully in the Department of Mecha Manufacture."

"What do you mean by that?" Magen’s frown deepened. He felt like Matis was hinting at something.

"Many people are against Arix staying in the Department of Mecha Manufacture. They want her to switch majors and focus on potion studies," Matis explained openly.

After all, if Magen became her mecha teacher in the future, he would eventually understand the headache.

"So what? Your granddaughter loves mecha. Are you going to stop her from studying it because of what others say?" Magen looked at Matis with a disgusted expression.

"Magen, you don’t realize how serious this is. Do you know the most famous psychic power healing potion recently?" Matis asked.

"Yes, I know. So what does that have to do with your granddaughter? Are you going to tell me that she developed it?" Magen rolled his eyes sarcastically.

Matis had expected Magen’s reaction. After all, the truth was so unbelievable that nobody with basic chemistry knowledge would believe it easily.

With a helpless sigh, Matis said, "The Psychic Healer was developed by Arix. So now the potion association might force Arix to switch majors when the school year starts."

"Really? You’re not lying to me?" Magen asked in shock and disbelief.

Matis nodded seriously. He wouldn’t joke about something so serious.

Magen’s frown deepened. He didn’t expect the information to be so overwhelming that it almost made him feel like his back was giving out.

He couldn’t believe that a fifteen-year-old girl had developed the psychic power healing potion. This potion wasn’t just an ordinary one; it was a lifesaver for countless people!

Now, it wasn’t just the potion association; even he began to wonder if Arix continuing to study mecha was wasting her talent in potion making.

If she continued in the Department of Chemistry, she might become the next legendary potion master!

But Magen couldn’t bear the thought of forcing a girl who loved mecha so much to study only potions. It felt wrong.

"I will take Arix as my apprentice, but if she really has no talent for mecha, I will guide her to focus more on potions," Magen said, rubbing his brow and sighing heavily.

Hearing this, Matis breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. "Thank you. When the school term starts, I’ll have her add you on her opticomputer."

"Okay. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now." Magen ended the call and looked towards the training base next door.

He felt uncertain. He didn’t know if he was making the right decision, but he wouldn’t regret it. He wanted to protect the light in that child’s eyes because he knew the pain of wanting to study mecha but being unable to.

When Magen was very young, his parents both died for the Alliance. Without their protection, his relatives took over his family’s property and kicked him out of his home. He ended up on the street as a beggar.

During his time on the streets, he envied mecha makers. On one hand, he loved mecha, on the other hand, those people were so well respected and lived a well-off life.

Magen swore that he’d try his best to be a mecha maker.

But without money to attend a proper school, Magen had to sneak into classes and watch from the corners. Too many time were he caught by security, beaten up, and thrown out like garbage.

Despite this, Magen never gave up. After many attempts, he succeed—someone either gave orders or the security guards just turned a blind eye to him.

Later, he found out that the person who helped him was Matis, who also helped him reclaim his inheritance, allowing him to study legitimately.

The two became brothers, until both fell in love with Arix’s grandmother, which strained their relationship.

Despite this, both Matis and Frances were crucial in Magen’s life, so he chose to step aside early, letting Matis and Frances be together.

After recalling the pains of his youth, Magen skillfully took a photo out of the drawer. He looked nostalgically at the young girl with a radiant smile in the photo.

As he looked, a bittersweet smile appeared on Magen’s lips. "Frances, if you had stayed a little longer, you could see your granddaughter now. She’s a remarkable and outstanding child. If you saw her, you would definitely like her."

The photo couldn’t speak, but the girl’s smile remained as if in agreement.
