A Chemist's Interstellar Saga
Chapter 68: Arix Helped

Chapter 68: Arix Helped

Arix looked at Varden, who wasn’t moving at all. Finally, Arix rolled his eyes, giving up on him.

If the Brant family had 100 tricks, 99 of them were definitely with Varden. Trying to hide anything from him was more exhausting than the act itself. It was simply not worth it.

Since Varden was his cousin, Arix decided it didn’t matter.

Besides, if Draven didn’t get treatment soon, he might not make it. Nyx also realized this and picked him up, heading towards the legion hospital.

"Wait!" Arix ran up and shouted.

Nyx stopped and looked at the two dirty kids with a blank expression. Then he coldly said, "Move."

"I might have a way to save him. Do you want to try?" Arix ignored Nyx’s bad attitude and spoke quickly.

Hearing this, Nyx was stunned, and even Varden wondered if Arix was crazy.

"This isn’t something you can joke on, you understand that? Don’t delay their treatment. Let them go," Varden said, grabbing Arix’s arm and trying to pull him away.

Nyx had a moment of hesitation but quickly dismissed it. Even the top Master Chemist of the Alliance admitted it couldn’t be done, so a kid was just talking big.

Nyx held his weakening lover and, without paying any more attention to them, continued walking.

Varden held Arix back, and they watched Nyx get farther away.

Arix turned to Varden, worried. "I really have a way. I can’t guarantee it will work, but I want to try."

"Are you sure? Nyx may get mad at you," Varden said, frowning and still not believing her.

"Do I look like I’m joking?" Arix was so angry that she wanted to swear, but she held back.

Varden saw that Arix didn’t look like she was joking at all. After thinking for a while, he made up his mind. "Okay, let’s try."

"Yes!" Arix nodded firmly.

They both ran to catch up with Nyx and stopped him again. But this time, Varden spoke, interrupting Nyx, who was about to get angry.

"Don’t get mad at us. Let me do the talking first. I am Sims’ grandson," Varden revealed his identity.

Nyx’s eyes showed a bit of interest. He finally looked up at Varden and, in a hoarse voice, said, "And?"

"My cousin, Arix, who is Admiral Kering’s granddaughter, says she has a way to save your lover. It might not work, but she wants to try." Varden laid it out clearly, not wanting to cause trouble for Arix.

Arix looked at Nyx nervously, waiting for his decision.

Hearing Varden’s words, even though Nyx felt dead inside, he was surprised to see these two young kids.

They looked so ordinary, yet one was a Master’s grandson, and the other was an Admiral’s granddaughter. But what did their identities matter? Being high-ranking wouldn’t save his lover.

Nyx wanted to refuse, but what came out was a single word, "Okay."

Nyx found it funny after agreeing to the kids’ nonsense without thinking.

He wanted to refuse again, but couldn’t. He was desperate, willing to try anything. Any bit of hope was worth the gamble, even if it led to ruin.

He thought he might as well take a chance, even if it was a deep abyss. At worst, Draven would die, but proudly, as he died for honor.

After reaching an agreement, Varden and Nyx looked at Arix. It was all up to her now.

Arix didn’t delay and started examining Draven right away. She checked his arteria carotis, lifted his eyelids, and pressed his belly.

The more she checked, the worse her expression became. Finally, she said seriously, "We need a quiet place, preferably a private room."

"Let’s go to my dorm," Varden said and quickly led the way.

Nyx and Arix followed immediately. Varden’s dorm wasn’t far, and they reached there soon enough. Nyx carefully placed Draven on the bed and looked at Arix with pleading eyes.

Arix noticed Nyx’s look but didn’t have time to respond. She immediately contacted Vita in the psychic world.

"Vita, what should I do now?" Arix asked anxiously.

After a quick examination, she realized that Draven’s psychic world was shattered, and his brain condition was like late-stage cerebral infarction.

In this era, cerebral infarction wasn’t hard to treat, but it was a complication of his broken psychic world. If they didn’t fix the psychic world, the infarction would keep recurring.

Given how weak Draven’s body was at this moment, just a few recurring would take his life.

"Arix, don’t worry. Let me take a look inside," Vita comforted.

"Okay," Arix said. She placed her hand above Draven’s face. Vita transformed into psychic power and entered his brain, heading towards his psychic world.

Arix closed her eyes, and her vision switched to Vita’s perspective. She saw withered nerves and swollen blood vessels along the way.

When Vita finally reached Draven’s psychic world, Arix saw only ruins. What should have been a mysterious, deep space like the universe now looked like a demolished site, leaving only rubble behind.

The shattered psychic world truly was a deadly condition in the interstellar era! Arix felt dizzy as she stared at the ruins. If she had to fix this alone, she wouldn’t even know where to start.

"Vita, is there anything I can help with?" Arix asked, her voice now timid.

"It’s okay, Arix. Let me look around first. I’ll call you when I need you," Vita replied.

Then Vita started circling around the broken psychic world, examining it thoroughly.

While Vita was diligently inspecting, Arix’s mind wandered. She increasingly felt that the three psychic incarnations in her space weren’t just cute but actually very powerful beings. She could definitely rely on them.

"Arix, I found something," Vita suddenly said.

"Huh? Where?" Arix looked around carefully but still saw only ruins.

"Here." Vita extended a psychic power tentacle and touched a glowing diamond-shaped crystal among the fragments.

"What is this?" Arix also extended a psychic power tentacle, wrapped the crystal, and examined it closely.

Then she exclaimed, "Is this Draven’s consciousness?!"

Consciousness was the soul. And Draven’s soul, having lost its psychic world, was being continuously drained by the universe’s energy. From a once bright, shining bulb, his consciousness was now just a faint glow.

Arix couldn’t imagine if they had arrived any later, even if she saved Draven, he might have ended up in a vegetative state.

"Vita, what do we do now? He’s fading fast!" Arix asked urgently, almost in tears.

"Arix, first wrap his consciousness in psychic power," Vita instructed with the calm authority of a senior, his steady tone helping to calm Arix down from her panic.

"Okay," Arix replied, her voice steadying.

Arix formed a transparent psychic power box around the diamond-shaped crystal. Once inside, the crystal stopped dimming. It might have been her imagination, but Arix felt the crystal seemed to be getting brighter. Perhaps Draven still wanted to live.

Arix thought of Nyx waiting anxiously outside and then looked at the struggling, glowing crystal in her hands.

One was outside, and one was inside, separated only by a physical body, but both were trying their hardest to see each other again.

Just thinking about it, Arix could turn this situation into a tragic yaoi story.

Draven and Nyx were suffering so much! If Arix’s psychic incarnation could cry, it would be flooding with tears right now.

No matter what, she was going to bring Draven back from the brink of death today. She was determined to be the matchmaker and make sure her favorite couple stayed together!
