Chapter 40: Psychic Power Training Center

Chapter 40: Psychic Power Training Center

The morning training session ended perfectly. After the instructors dismissed everyone, the new students either headed to the cafeteria or went back to their dorms.

Arix declined to join Maya for lunch. She went back to her dorm alone and quickly took a shower.

Then, she took a tube of nutrition fluid from her Space Button. She dealt with lunch quickly, then collapsed on her bed, too exhausted to move.

The fatigue, both physical and mental, quickly sent Arix into a deep sleep.

When Maya woke her up, Arix saw her roommates looking fresh and chatty, gossiping animatedly.

At that moment, Arix felt a pang of jealousy.

All of them were new students, yet her roommates seemed to have much more physical stamina than her. They were able to chat so relaxedly after the intense morning session, which felt like a blatant show-off.

"Arix, wake up. It’s almost 2 PM. We need to start the afternoon session of psychic power training," Maya reminded her.

From the moment Maya became the dorm leader, she was destined to worry about everyone in the dorm, especially Arix. After all, Arix was the only one who had been sent to the medical room so far.

The incident of Arix entering the medical room had spread among the students at various military schools. Her roommates tactfully didn’t mention it, fearing it might hurt Arix’s feelings.

But the other students had no such reservations. They seemed to discuss it almost all the time—while eating, sleeping, and even in the restroom.

For instance, at cafeteria tables...

"Hey, did you hear? Arix from the Hecaris Military Academy fainted yesterday. She fell so badly that she bled from her arm."

Or on dorm beds...

"Arix knocked herself out during training yesterday, and even split her head open. Thankfully you weren’t there; the blood everywhere was terrifying."

And in restroom stalls...

"I heard Arix spun around three full circles before hitting the ground when she fell. It looked so dramatic, even Drexel Kering was stunned for seconds before he ran to take her to the doctor."

Arix had no idea that her simple fainting due to physical exhaustion had been turned into numerous exaggerated stories, making her quite famous across the military academies.

Now, as Arix shakily got up and rubbed her sore, numb knees, she and her roommates headed to the training ground. She felt many new students secretly sizing her up along the way.

Arix thought it was still because of the rumors about her and Drexel. She tried to maintain a poker face, but deep down, she was really panicking.

She noticed that more and more people were paying attention to her. Just yesterday, only a few gossip lovers were interested, but today, even students from other military academies were joining in on the buzz.

Thankfully, as soon as the instructors arrived, everyone quickly averted their gaze, otherwise Arix would have been so embarrassed that she might have dug a hole right through the training field with her cringe.

As soon as the Hecaris Military Academy students saw the instructor, they quickly lined up in the formation they had learned the day before yesterday.

They stood erect, with chests puffed out and an air of confidence, nothing like their previous chatty selves.

Ortiz surveyed all the students of the Hecaris Military Academy and began, "This afternoon we’ll continue with psychic power training. I want to emphasize something just before that. Yesterday, some students brought Psychic Wares into the training room. Do you think such hidden cheating is beneficial for your future?"

"No!" the students shouted in unison.

The instructor’s and classmates’ thunderous words made the few students who had Psychic Wares on them blush. They silently removed their Psychic Wares and quietly stashed them into their Space Buttons.

Ortiz noticed these actions and finally allowed a slight smile to appear, "Good, now everyone follow me to the psychic power training field."

The psychic power training field was located at the very back of the training base. Compared to the other more basic fields, this one finally had a bit of a star-age style.

Before entering the training field, the students had to line up and pass through a security gate.

Next to the gate stood a soldier from the Fifth Legion, who used an opticomputer in conjunction with the gate to check the students.

Each time a student paused in front of the security gate, a ray beam would scan them from head to toe to ensure they carried no dangerous items.

When a student was cleared, a mechanical voice from the soldier’s opticomputer would announce, "Inspection passed. No dangerous items carried. Clearance granted."

"I wonder which psychic power training center we’ll go to today. The pain from yesterday’s Gravity Training Center is still haunting me," Rei moaned as he queued up.

"As long as it’s not the Hypnosis Training Center, I think I can handle anything," Lilou commented. She disliked the feeling of being hypnotized, as if her psychic world was stripped bare, leaving her feeling utterly insecure.

"In that case, the Control Training Room is the best. You just need to use your psychic power to control objects and attack," Leyla sighed.

Unlike her roommates, who had been beaten down in the psychic power training rooms, Arix perked up the moment she saw the psychic power training field, her spirits instantly lifted.

Arix much preferred the high-tech psychic power training grounds to physical training sites.

Her love for high-tech was akin to Cirilla’s excitement when facing someone stronger than herself. No hardships could deter their relentless pursuit of pushing their limits.

Even without seeing the full extent of the psychic power training field yet, Arix was already bubbling with excitement.

"Arix Kering, inspection passed. No dangerous items carried. Clearance granted."

"You may enter now," said the nearby soldier coldly.

"Thank you," Arix responded politely. She smiled with anticipation as she walked toward the psychic power training room.

The psychic power training field was indoors, divided into five separate training centers. Instructor Virtanen was currently standing at the entrance of the Gravity Training Center, logging each student’s entry with his opticomputer.

Seeing that it was the Gravity Training Center, Arix felt a bit sorry for Rei.
