Chapter 31: The Training Begins
The next morning, Arix washed up and casually turned on her opticomputer.
The sound of coins being deposited echoed one after another.
"Your account has received 50,000 astrocredits, from your store."
"Your account has received 80,000 astrocredits, from your store."
"Your account has received 5,000 astrocredits, from your store."
Then Arix remembered that she had handed over her potion online store to Drexel the day before, but this endless list of transactions...
’He didn’t stay up all night, did he?’ she wondered, frowning.
She left her bedroom with a serious look on her face. When she reached the living room, she saw Drexel already eating breakfast.
"You’re awake! How about it? Did you see?" Drexel asked, excitedly raising his eyebrows.
"Don’t tell me you stayed up all night," Arix said, sounding slightly upset.
She didn’t want Drexel spending too much time on the online store. It could distract him from his studies.
Drexel grinned proudly and then pulled a miniature delivery robot from his Space Button.
"Is this a delivery robot?!" Arix first looked at the small robot in surprise, and it took her a moment to grasp Drexel’s point.
Then Arix felt a bit stupid. She had been too busy recently, her mind always muddled. She had been packing and shipping for a month and hadn’t even thought of using a delivery robot.
"Arix, could I get my share of the profits from yesterday? I bought this robot and still owe a good buddy over 800,000 astrocredits," Drexel asked shyly—a rare sight for someone usually so bold.
"Sure." Arix was speechless at her own foolishness, but she firmly transferred 5 million astrocredits to Drexel.
Upon hearing his account had received 5 million, Drexel immediately smiled broadly. "Haha, Arix, go ahead and have your breakfast. I’ll wait for you in the car."
"Okay, I’ll be right there," Arix said, her mood gloomy.
After breakfast, their driver took them to the entrance of the Hecaris Military Academy.
After getting out of the car, Arix told the driver to be safe. Then she and Drexel entered the school together and went to the training ground to wait for assembly.
Many new students who had already arrived at the training ground started whispering to each other upon seeing Arix and Drexel.
"Hey, look, it’s Arix and Drexel."
"She’s not as bad as they say online, I think they look quite good together."
"Exactly. In this year’s exam, Arix is the only one from our academy in the top ten of the whole Alliance. The others are just jealous."
"It’s a shame about her background, though. It would be great if she came from a better one."
Drexel leaned closer to Arix and whispered, "Arix, are you sure you don’t want to explain now? I’m so handsome, some crazy fan might go after you."
"The military training has already started; we can announce it after it’s over. It’s better to explain when everyone is together, otherwise, it’s too much trouble to explain to each person separately," Arix said nonchalantly.
Drexel raised an eyebrow and grinned, "Okay, that works. It’ll help me block some of the admirers. After all, girls only get in my brain and slow down my mecha driving."
"Any girl who gets in your brain is terribly unlucky," Arix rolled her eyes at Drexel’s narcissistic comment.
"Wow, look, a warship!"
As someone shouted in surprise, a huge black warship appeared in the sky. It quickly cut through the clouds and stopped in front of the training ground.
The shape of the warship was somewhat like the luxury cruise ships Arix had seen in her last life. However, she knew there was no comparison: a cruise ship was for sightseeing and could sink at any moment under wind and waves; this one was built for battle, capable of withstanding attacks from the most advanced weapons.
The freshmen waited for a while until four people slowly walked out from the middle of the warship’s deck.
The first was President Gunder of the Hecaris Military Academy; the other three, dressed in dark blue uniforms with golden trim, were new to the students.
"Hello, everyone, I am President Gunder. We will be conducting a month-long military training. The three instructors behind me will score you based on your performance during the training. After the training, they will sort you into classes based on your scores. I believe every student wants to be in the best class."
Although Gunder’s expression was kind and gentle, his tone was firm and commanding.
"Yes!" all the new students shouted together.
"Then show your best! Now, all students, board the warship," Gunder said with a satisfied smile.
Gunder gestured with his hand from back to front, and the instructor immediately activated a program on the opticomputer.
Instantly, a boarding ladder unfolded segment by segment, reaching out to the training ground.
All the new students of the Hecaris Military Academy watched the warship in awe, then they orderly boarded the ship one after another.
After confirming all the new students had boarded, Gunder spoke again, "To protect the location of the Fifth Legion base, you need to hand over your opticomputers and Space Buttons. During this time, the school will assign you a digital bracelet numbered from 1 to 1000. The bracelet will record your number and score. During military training, it is strictly forbidden to hide any electronic devices or anything unrelated to the military. Violators will be severely punished and a record of the violation will be left in their files."
The new students murmured their dissatisfaction, but almost all of them obediently handed over their opticomputers and Space Buttons to the instructors. They then received the black iron-colored bracelets from the instructors.
The students, having surrendered their opticomputers and Space Buttons, looked at the instructors with mournful expressions, as if they had just lost their boyfriend or girlfriend.
The instructors ignored these looks. They ruthlessly carried two large bags and approached the next student.
When it was Arix’s turn, she had already removed her opticomputer and Space Button. She handed them over to the instructor voluntarily, so the instructor nodded at Arix with a smile.
However, the situation took a turn when it came to Drexel next door. Arix turned to look and saw Drexel and an instructor pulling on the opticomputer as if they were in a tug-of-war.
"Let go!" The instructor’s veins bulged from the effort. He didn’t want to be mocked by other instructors, so he kept up the struggle with Drexel.
Drexel said nothing, but his eyes, almost tearful, vividly expressed his extreme reluctance.
At this point, several other students sneakily watched Drexel and the instructor. Seeing the situation escalating, Arix couldn’t help but facepalm.
Then, she quickly kicked Drexel behind the knees, causing him enough pain to release his grip.
The instructor breathed a sigh of relief and quickly put the opticomputer into the bag. He moved faster than before as he went on to the next student.
Seeing that the spectacle was over, the surrounding new students turned their attention away. Drexel looked completely deflated, like a frosted eggplant.
Arix knew how severe Drexel’s gaming addiction was and how painful it was for him to be separated from his opticomputer. She patted Drexel’s hair, offering silent comfort.
