Chapter 111: Helping Cassian

Chapter 111: Helping Cassian

Alpha Leonidas gave Arix a brief glance and a slight nod.

Luna Amethyst had her eyes on Arix the moment she walked in.

"Arix, right? Cassian talks about you often. This is our first meeting, and I’m Cassian’s mother. It’s a pleasure to meet you." Unlike the aloof Alpha Leonidas, Luna Amethyst radiated warmth and cheer. Her gaze was soft as she looked at Arix.

Though worried about Cassian, Arix managed to keep her anxiety in check. She bowed her little head respectfully, "Thank you, Your Majesty. I’m honored."

"You can call me Auntie Amy. And Arix, may I hug you?" Luna Amethyst’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the adorable young cub before her. She was determined to bond well with her ’future daughter-in-law.’

Luna Amethyst’s smile grew even kinder, and Arix found herself admiring Cassian’s beautiful mother. So, when Luna Amethyst asked for a hug, Arix shyly glanced at her and then nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed but willing.

In the next moment, Arix was enveloped in a soft, warm embrace. As she enjoyed the comfort, she couldn’t help but think that Cassian must have had a very cozy childhood.

Luna Amethyst hugged and petted Arix for a while, clearly delighted. Once she had her fill, she reluctantly released Arix and said, "Arix, I like you so much. Would you consider staying in the Empire? I can have Leonidas make you the only princess of the Empire."

Alpha Leonidas, hearing his mate’s playful offer, finally looked over. Instead of reprimanding her, he gave Luna Amethyst a fond look and nodded at Arix, signaling his agreement.

"Thank you, Auntie Amy. But I have to return to the Hecaris Military Academy in the Alliance next month, so I can’t stay here for too long," Arix replied, touched by their kindness but politely declining their offer.

"That’s a pity, but make sure to visit me often," Luna Amethyst sighed with genuine regret but remained cheerful as she gently patted Arix’s head. She was confident that one day, Arix would be part of their family.

"Of course, I will. I like you too, Auntie Amy," Arix said sweetly.

"My little Arix, you’re such a little sweet girl," Luna Amethyst said, beaming with joy. She even planted a kiss on Arix’s forehead.

Seeing the two getting a bit too affectionate, Duke Glendale, worried about his young prince, finally spoke up, "How about we check on His Highness first?"

The room fell silent. Luna Amethyst and Arix exchanged awkward glances, both coughing nervously before putting on serious expressions.

"Arix, could you help Auntie take a look? It seems my Cassian is unwell," Luna Amethyst said, trying to appear stern as she carried Arix to Cassian’s bedside.

"Alright, I’ll check now," Arix responded, her cute face turning serious as she let out a soft howl.

Duke Glendale rolled his eyes secretly but refrained from pointing out their obvious awkwardness.

Before starting the treatment, Arix made sure to check Cassian’s body first. Then, using her psychic power, she carefully examined his condition.

The verdict? Cassian’s body was fine, but his psychic world was on the brink of collapse.

Seeing Cassian’s psychic world riddled with cracks hit Arix hard. She remembered that time with the Hecaris wormhole. Back then, Cassian’s psychic world probably hadn’t healed either, but he still chose to help her, supporting the psychic barrier together, even though it worsened his own injuries.

Now, he nearly shattered his psychic world seeking revenge.

’Cassian, you’re not a fool, so why do something so reckless for me again? Is it worth it?’ Arix’s eyes stung with tears.

With a heart full of sorrow, she gently nuzzled Cassian. She then started transferring Vita’s psychic power into his crumbling psychic world.

"Vita, I really need your help this time," Arix’s voice, for once, held a plea.

"Okay," Vita’s gentle voice resonated in her psychic world.

Arix and Vita’s consciousness entered Cassian’s psychic world together.

Unlike the psychic worlds of the Alliance people, where psychic power appeared as diamond crystals, therian psychic incarnation had consciousness represented by small, animal forms.

To Arix’s surprise, Cassian’s psychic incarnation was actually awake!

Yet, he showed no fear or concern for the collapsing psychic world around him. He lay sprawled on the ground like a pancake, muttering something.

Arix had seen her own psychic incarnation turn into an animal form, so she wasn’t surprised.

She was just a bit angry that, Cassian hadn’t even noticed someone had invaded his psychic world and was just lying there, doing nothing to heal it.

Psychic worlds can self-heal, albeit slowly, but it’s better than doing nothing. Yet Cassian didn’t care at all, letting his psychic world continue to crumble.

What hurt Arix the most was that she almost cried for this guy, while he was there not caring about his own injuries.

Vita seemed to sense something and said sympathetically, "Arix, take it easy on him. He’s still a patient, after all."

Arix’s eyes turned cold, and with a wicked smile, she said, "I’m his doctor now, aren’t I? Vita, you go heal his psychic world. I’ll give his brain some treatment."

"Alright," Vita replied, seeing that Arix couldn’t be persuaded. She could only look at Cassian with pity.

Then, flapping her wings, she began mending the cracks in the psychic world.

The unusual activity finally caught Cassian’s attention. Just as he was about to look up, he saw a white furball charging at him.

Cassian’s eyes sharpened, and he leaped back to avoid the sudden attack. Just as he was about to counterattack, he realized his assailant was a tiger cub.

"Who are you?" Cassian paused his attack, staring in confusion at the little furball before him.

"Hmph!" Arix sneered, not surprised that Cassian didn’t recognize her.

After all, few people knew she had turned into a therian. She had tried to tell Cassian before but couldn’t get in touch with him.

She’d worried about him for so long, and look at what she found out today— Cassian was slacking off! She swore to the Moon Goddess that she’s definitely give him a lesson today.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Instead of answering his question, she bared her little fangs and lunged at him.

Cassian looked helplessly at the tiny cub attacking without warning and threatened. "I’m in a bad mood right now. If you keep this up, I won’t go easy on you!"

Arix sneered internally. She didn’t use psychic power but went at him with teeth and claws. Her fierce gaze and actions almost made Cassian think he had stolen the cub’s food or something. Otherwise, why would a bottle-sucking cub be chasing and biting him?

He ran, she chased.

"Enough, you little brat! I’m only going easy on you because you’re small, not because I’m afraid! If you keep causing trouble, I’ll fight back!" Cassian was angry now, his light golden eyes flaring with anger.

Arix bared her teeth in disdain, ignoring Cassian’s threats, and lunged at him again.

Cassian sighed, seeing no other choice but to fight back.

So, the two little furballs wrestled, punching and kicking each other for quite a while.

It wasn’t until Vita finished mending the psychic world that the two cubs were still at it.

"Arix, the psychic world is repaired. Shall we leave now?" Vita asked, a bit exasperated, seeing the two cubs still fighting.

Cassian’s movement froze just as he was about to counterattack. He couldn’t believe he just heard that name.

Taking advantage of Cassian’s distraction, Arix bit his neck and started smacking his butt with her paw. Strangely, Cassian didn’t resist; instead, he shyly buried his face under his paws.

Arix looked puzzled. ’Did I hit him so hard he got stupid?’

Cassian, on the other hand, was blushing much, screaming internally. ’Arix actually bit my neck! Is she proposing to me?’

In the Empire, the rule was that if a male therian wanted to court a female therian, he could choose to fight her. If he won, he could bite her neck. So, biting a therian’s neck in the Empire signified both courtship and the intention to mate.

But Arix didn’t know any of this. After spanking Cassian, she felt much better.

Arix released Cassian’s neck. She gave him one last haughty snort before exiting the psychic world with Vita.

Still in place, Cassian blushed furiously for a while before finally lifting his head. His golden eyes, shimmering with a watery glow, shyly looked in the direction Arix had left.

Cassian knew Arix probably didn’t understand the meaning behind biting someone’s neck, but he couldn’t help feeling a rush of joy and excitement.

Now, it was his turn to leave. He had been hiding in his psychic world, afraid the outside world no longer had Arix in it. But now that Arix was alive and had shown such a gesture, there was no way he could let her off the hook.

After all, he was an innocent, pure-hearted wolf. She had ruined his purity, and she had to take responsibility for that!
