Chapter 107: Mecha Samurai

On the deck of the starship carrier, Arix was nestled in Scion’s arms. She looked up in awe at the battlefield between the Empire and the insectoids.

Through the energy shield of the starship carrier, Arix saw countless insectoids swarming toward the fleet in the vast expanse of space.

Compared to the few small insectoids she had seen before, the ones outside the energy shield were like their parents. They weren’t just terrifyingly numerous; they were also several times larger. The most frightening sight was three insectoids, each as large as the starship carrier.

Just how big was the starship carrier? It was the size of hundreds of football fields!

If the insectoid swarm were like green beans, then these three special insectoids were like eggs in comparison—completely unmatched by the regular insectoids.

After marveling at the insectoids, Arix turned her gaze toward the Empire.

If the insectoids won by sheer numbers, the Empire relied on quality. The Empire’s main combat force was the starship carrier. Surrounding it were nine slightly smaller military warships, which operated under the starship carrier’s command.

These warships could search, track, lock onto, and attack insectoids within a range of several thousand kilometers. Their powerful particle beam weapons and super electromagnetic cannons could wipe out thousands of insectoids in a single shot.

The only downside was that the long charging time for these weapons allowed some insectoids to breach the starship carrier’s protective circle.

This was when the mechas came into play.

In the starry space, over a thousand mechas were fighting. Pilots wielded heavy swords, pulse guns, and various other weapons, fiercely killing any insectoid that entered the starship carrier’s protection zone.

Watching the mecha pilots battle the insectoids with such fervor, Arix felt her own blood pumping. She couldn’t wait to pilot a mecha herself and charge into the insectoid swarm.

Unfortunately, she was still just a student and hadn’t even started her mecha pilot classes.

Fighting in a mecha, or even controlling one to walk, was out of the question for her right now.

The more Arix thought about it, the more disheartened she became, her ears drooping in frustration.

"Arix, are you scared?" Scion noticed the youngling’s low spirits and asked with a slight smile.

Arix shook her head, replying in her soft, childish voice, "Not scared, just very curious. I’ve never seen such big insectoids before."

"Then let’s take a closer look," Scion said mysteriously.

He retrieved a pure white mecha from his Space Button. The mecha was about 15 meters tall and holding a long sword.

Arix gazed at the towering mecha, swallowing hard in excitement before asking eagerly, "Scion, is this your mecha? What’s his name?"

Scion’s expression softened as he looked at the mecha. "His name is Samurai. He’s been with me since I was little. He’s my important partner."

"Scion, you’re so lucky! I want a mecha that can be my partner too," Arix said enviously, nearly drooling with excitement.

Scion chuckled and patted Arix’s furry little head. Then he looked up at the mecha and said, "Samurai, get ready for battle."

As soon as Scion finished speaking, the massive mecha moved, kneeling down and extending his free hand towards Scion.

"It’s an honor to fight with you, master," Samurai’s mechanical voice carried a knightly reverence.

Scion nodded and, holding Arix, stepped into Samurai’s hand.

Once they were securely in place, Samurai carefully lifted them into the cockpit located in his chest. Standing tall, Samurai then turned his gaze towards the distant insectoids.

Inside the mecha’s cockpit, Arix nestled obediently in Scion’s arms, eyes wide with excitement as she took in the surroundings.

The cockpit resembled an airplane’s, though it was smaller and filled with virtual buttons, giving it a much more high-tech feel. Unlike an airplane, the front wasn’t transparent glass but a virtual screen, where Samurai’s avatar now appeared.

To Arix’s surprise, Samurai’s avatar looked like a child of about five years old. The avatar stared at Arix curiously, his voice now youthful and inquisitive, quite different from the mature tone outside. "Master, who is this little one?"

Scion’s gaze softened as he replied, "This is Arix. She’s a friend and wants to learn about the mecha."

Arix smiled shyly at the AI. "Hi, Samurai! You’re really cool!"

Samurai beamed, his childlike enthusiasm evident. "Hello, Arix! It’s nice to meet you. Are you ready to see what a mecha can do?"

Arix’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she nodded eagerly. "Yes, please!"

Scion chuckled at her enthusiasm. "Alright, Samurai. Let’s show her the ropes."

With that, Samurai activated his systems, the cockpit lighting up with displays and controls.

Arix watched in awe as the mecha moved with precision and power, his every step shaking the ground beneath them.

Scion expertly maneuvered Samurai, demonstrating basic movements and combat techniques.

Arix soaked in every moment, her initial frustration forgotten as she marveled at the mecha’s capabilities.

This was just the beginning of her journey, and she couldn’t wait to take her own steps towards becoming a mecha pilot.

But before Scion could respond, Samurai seemed to have a revelation. "Oh, I get it! This is your little cub, right, Master?! But wait, Master, when did you get a mate? How come I didn’t know?"

A vein throbbed on Scion’s forehead, his childhood friend bonds seemingly evaporating. He coldly uttered one word, "Mute."

Samurai was muted immediately.

’Master! Are you angry? So I am right! She IS you little cub!’

Although the language system was disabled, Samurai continued to spam messages on the virtual screen:

"Master, master, I was wrong."

"Master, please turn the voice system back on, I won’t talk nonsense anymore."

"Master, do you have a new cub and don’t want your old Samurai anymore?"

"Master! Master..."

Seeing the continuous barrage of messages, Arix burst into giggles. "Scion, I think Samurai knows he was wrong. How about turning the voice system back on?"

Samurai looked at Arix gratefully, then made a pitiful face, as if to say, ’If you don’t unmute me, I’ll cry.’

With two cute faces pleading, Scion rubbed his temples in frustration. He then warned Samurai coldly, "If you speak nonsense again, I’ll remove your voice system entirely and make you a mute mecha."

On the virtual screen, Samurai finally looked scared, shrinking back and miming a gesture of sealing its lips.
