Yeah, I noticed it in the next chapter. I'm still not sure if the white flame did get corrupted (by the oil-stuff) or if it's always been like that. Also not sure how exacty Reaper became Reaper and is related to the black reapers mom. There has to be some relationship, they both have a flame and they both get called mom by the lack reapers, but the dead moms body is obviously quite different from Reaper, and she still has her memories as a human. Of course, since she has visions of the "past" and obvious relation to the ruined world, there has to be some kind of mix between her human and object selves. The entity part could very well be the dead mother, however that begs the question why she looks like this, as every other known object seems to be a 1:1 copy, be it with somewhat distorted or destroyed memories.

mister unserious
i think the white flame is a distorted flame probably made from the black reapers mom who seems to be gray reaper before she lost her memories?
This noble rodent recommends. I can only speculate, but since you enjoy Seoul Object Story, I'd guess you like SCP stories, and this scratches the same itch. Just that the SCPs in question are all ghost stories, (korean) urban myths and creepy pasta. There's even a wiki of ghost stories in the novel that is quite like the SCP wiki with exploration reports and managing guidelines. MC works for a shady company that "manages" ghost stories after he kinda got "spirited away" into the fictional world of said wiki, and let's just say any health and safety inspector would cry witnessing how the company operates. Add on top that MC is a scared rat (I can relate), has the tendency to attract trouble and the interest of ghost entities, and has a noble and virtuous heart (can't relate), you get the recipe for something special. If only he'd also grow a pair and stand up to his bosses and take proper credit for his achievements, but I guess nobody is perfect.

mmmm I've never read this but I'll put it in library for later.
Not finished (and translated) as of writing, but there are regular updates. Since the novel is neatly divided into chapters + epilogue without (mayor) cliffhangers, you can simply read each chapter one at time once they are finished. Unless you prefer binge-reading of course, however I'd recommend reading this novel slowly and savouring it, like a fine piece of cheese after a hard day of work.
I'm sorry Bernadt, my prediction of a whimsical yet hilarious death was unfulfilled, instead you were stabbed to death. rip brother, I've known you for too short, and by short I mean two chapters. I shall forever remember you as one of our own, a rat who tried to betray but was better at getting killed.
Indeed
mmm nice

James, buddy, you're banned from touching alcohol ever again. Trust me, it's better for all of us.
Let's hope the kids take after the dad.
