Time travel is way too confusing but, if you think about it, if these nightmares are all really in the past then there are 3 possibilities. (I think 1 and 3 are most likely)
1. (Pretty likely the case) its only this nightmare that is special, Mordret hinted at it aswell, so maybe thats what is special about it
2. Since they are in the past, then changing something would not really cause abrupt changes in the real world because 'they have always been like that'. If i travel back in time now and explode a random continent. People wouldn't be like "hey where did that continent go?" Because it has been like that for thousands of years already.
3. The whole Fate diggamajig is active and sneakily making people re-enact the past, because fate is inevitable you cant really change anything meaningful
