Well the thing is they are absurdly smart because they're also superhumans, it's already been said awakeneds are not just stronger but also smarter so they aren't just teenagers, superhuman teenagers that are also the world's best the academy is literally a culmination of the elite top percentile, not to mention every noble child has to go through extreme training since birth, and origin cards themselves manifest after extreme traumatic conditions so its fair to say it's not exactly absurd, and matter of fact juli grew in an extremely abusive environment while also training to be a shadow, she literally watched her family get executed and has been planning to kill theosbane since she was a child, besides some characters are simply extremely smart or extremely strong likewise juli also happens to be a smart superhuman, while Vince is a superhuman street smart scam artist, so its plausible. Anyway I think that should clear up the flaws since I think it's just context and perspective diff

I'm not saying Juliana and Vince's manipulations/scams are absurd. They can be done.
But both Juliana and Vince are kids! Kids! They're waaay too smart for their age.
I'm not complaining, I'm just saying no 17yo would act with that much ruthless efficiency.
I agree it's fantasy and all, but they're still way too competent for teenagers.
As for Samael, yes he's the same guy, but you can't disagree he had suddenly become way too smart. It's not just the matter of not being an idiot.
He's outsmarting actual schemers with effortless ease.
He wasn't that smart in his previous life, and the old Samael was also certainly not that smart either.
In his past life, he was a depressive shut-in. And the old Samael was an egoistic asshole.
But the current Samael, after his two personalities collided, has suddenly become an intellectual genius.
I'm guessing there's something we don't know about his previous life, since like I said, Samael is an unreliable narrator.
has bro even read the novel ππalmost NONE of what you said happens one thing is judging a book by cover another is assuming the whole plot and calling it a generic slop before even reading???
It's genuinely a good 'extra' novel definitely more on the slow paced side but also fleshes out characters well, there aren't many cliches in the first place and even then they're executed in a way that it's more of a build up and not free hand downs, he doesn't get anything handed like free plot armour and all the fights are exeuted well, the writing style is also a breath of fresh air, things are explained alot but not in a info dump way, the writing is almost lively in a sense and the comedy is good, the novel really starts getting better over time as the author improves too.
there's no harem no finance business no magically saving people and saving the world and fixing reputation i do know what you're referring to it's in most extra novels and yes it's s*it but this isn't one of them

Fiction
Mid I've seen ten stories just like this on webnovel. It's always the same thing someone dies then they become and extra in a book or game. There usually a young master with a bad reputation and BAM people realize that the way he acts is based on rumors and that the young master is a good guy. Then he finds hidden weapons or abilities with the knowledge heck even invest into stocks. To do what ultimately? That's the problem with these generic novel the world always end at the end of the book. So we read the journey of the young master to save the world by first fixing his reputation, go to an academy maybe even fake his death. Gather his harem oh I bet he has a finance too they always have em in these kinds of books. The finance betrays them or realize that they were a good person all along and that there bad personality is a phase. This is kinda of a rant but this is a lot of novels nowadays just look at webnovel it's a swarm of these just like this novel. I'm sick of this trope.
Changed drastically is a stretch considering he's still the same except he's not an idiot anymore which isn't that absurd, he's still reckless, still loves fighting except now he knows to use advantages and not dive in recklessly and lose and it's been mentioned alot that while his dominant personality is his current self his past life changed his outlook completely, he even mentions the colliding personalities being the reason he was in a coma before he woke up there's no need for further addressing it's already explained and finished
Juli's manipulation isn't as absurd as you're saying? What's the biggest thing she's done? Get some allies in a test, seduce a sexual predator teacher to get what she wants(this one's easy even) and know how to read people
Vince also wasn't too absurd, not realistic? Sure but it's a fantasy novel and it's not like he just sold a bridge he used a lot of loopholes, props, fake government people and some weeks of convincing
but pace is indeed slowburn

After reading 198 chapters, here is my pros and cons list.
First, cons:
-After awakening his memories, the MC's personality changed too drastically. (This could be addressed further in the story, since the story is written in first person pov and Samael is an unreliable narrator).
-Some characters are made out to be so excessively smart that they feel cartoonish. (Juliana with how easily she manipulate people, even though her manipulation tactics are explained.
Then Vince Cleverly, with how he scammed a literal noble by selling him a bridge that never existed. Don't get me wrong, it was funny seeing Samael and Juliana's reaction to his story, but bro is just 17yo and he's pulling some "Catch Me If You Can" shii ππ)
-Pace is slow
-I like the power system, but I don't like how it's executed.
tbh we don't even know viktor much to assume what he would and wouldn't do, and loyalty is subjective in some cases, like one could believe actively talking to the opposite gender is a form of cheating while others could say it's just friendship it's not absurd that viktor would respond somewhat positively to say a beautiful girl showing subtle interest whether subconsciously or consciously and there's alot of subconscious self justification in these cases and what we do know is that these guys have basically no past relationships so kind of romantic wrecks

Once again the plot is too convenient for Juliana ( one of the important characters of the novel) , like there was no certainity that Viktor would react positively to the advances of celene .
And wasn't it too stupid to lie to her potential gf just to what - help her out to put the book in library .
And was it not out of character of Viktor who always tries to hide his feelings and is type of shy ( shown in the market when juli watches them for 10 min) and was somewhat gave the feeling of loyalty , goes in front of his gf with another girl and goes to date with another girl, when his childhood friend had already confessed to him .
it's more like after climbing a wall with your bare hands and after it there's stairs, most people don't know how to climb in the first place which is sensing essence and it's not like it'll become useless, you'll probably be better at cultivating essence in general by then
