Do I read Reverend Insanity or Lord of the Mysteries? I haven't read peak in a while the last peak I read was RTOC. My favorite novel of all time is Mother of Learning.
Volume 1 was definitely the weakest, it wasn't bad, but it was in no way better than the others.

LOTM has a slow start, everyone knows this, if you think it's really bad just give it a few months for the donghua to finish and then just continue from volume 2, personally I started enjoying it after like 20 chapters but it varies for people.

Man, how do people stay awake reading this? I made it to chapter 80, and that felt like running a marathon in slow motion. It’s 90% slice-of-life, 10% mysterious newspaper clippings. Most novels reel you in early this one straight up repelled me. The hype had me expecting fireworks, but all I got was fog, tea, and disappointment. Glazing got me into the novel in the first place, i ended up stuck in Victorian slice-of-life purgatory.
