That "this sequence 9 Marauder" was a little badly translated. It was supposed to tell the readers that Lanevous's nimble movements were the results of his previous sequence, the Marauder. He was actually a sequence 8 Swindler.
1. Remember when Klein found the body of that detective(spy) in the sewers?
At that time, he said, "That's not the kind of damage a rat can do" and later, it was discovered there are monsters down there. Now it gets revealed that it was Lanevous who mutated them using his blood because he wanted to attract the attention of the officials.
2. Remember the guy that sold Klein an ear belonging to a sequence 8 listener from the [Hanged Man] pathway and accepted to kill the monsters?
Now it turns out he was actually a member of the Aurora order that went down there to stop Lanevous's plot
3. Remember Mike Joseph's(reporter) speculation that there is a copycat mimicking the real serial killer?
Apparently, he was right, and it was Lanevous all along trying to attract the attention of the seven churches after his first plan failed. This is why I say, "There are no side quests in here" because pretty much everything, even small situations, is somehow connected.
Isengard Stanton was the private detective that Fors and Xio consulted about Qilangos back in volume one. He was able to instantly recognize him based on the habital information and deduce that he's in Backlun
The Sequence potions were made for human(oid) use, so that humans could digest the characteristics that they weak bodies normally wouldn't be able to. (of course, this doesn't mean that others cannot consume potions)
The non human races usually just consume the characteristic directly. They possess the ability to slowly digest the characteristic on their own, so there is no need for any 'acting'.
It's quite funny if you think about it. The three methods for Klein obtaining the sequence 4 formula were:
1. The Hornacis Mountain Range
2. The Antigonus notebook
3. Zaratul
And he's literally dealing with all three right now.
Also, do you guys remember captain Dunn saying that some pathways would have odd sequences that would seemingly give different abilities each sequence that don't seem connected until they all converge on sequence 4 and give birth to a specially powerful demigod? Well, we already knew (Seer) is one such pathway, and you guys are having a sneak peek right now.
Just to point something out:
That "this sequence 9 Marauder" was a little badly translated. It was supposed to tell the readers that Lanevous's nimble movements were the results of his previous sequence, the Marauder. He was actually a sequence 8 Swindler.
DK if its a spoiler :/

For the ones curious about the Midnight Roarers:
The Sequence potions were made for human(oid) use, so that humans could digest the characteristics that they weak bodies normally wouldn't be able to. (of course, this doesn't mean that others cannot consume potions)
The non human races usually just consume the characteristic directly. They possess the ability to slowly digest the characteristic on their own, so there is no need for any 'acting'.
