Fang Yuan, the ruthless anti-hero, stops at nothing to pursue eternal life, making for a gripping, unpredictable journey. The world-building is deep, the power system is unique, and the philosophical themes hit hard. If you want a protagonist who plays by no one's rules but his own, this is the novel for you
this isn’t your typical cultivation novel. Instead of the usual power fantasy where the MC beats up everyone and constantly shows off, this story takes a more grounded and strategic approach. The main character is cautious, calculative, and doesn't blindly rush into fights — which honestly feels like a breath of fresh air.
One of the standout things for me is the unique cultivation system. It’s different from the cookie-cutter stuff you usually see, and that alone kept me hooked. The world-building also deserves a mention. It starts off a bit slow, but it uses that time to really set the stage — and once it picks up, you start to appreciate the foundation it built.
There is romance and a bit of harem, but it’s not just thrown in for the sake of it. It actually plays a role in the story and character development, which I liked. Nothing feels too over-the-top or forced.
Overall, this novel surprised me in a good way. It’s not perfect, but it stands out in a genre full of repetition. Definitely worth a read if you’re looking for something more thoughtful and less "MC punches everything into submission."
Solid 4 out of 5 from me.
