Chapter 780: Chapter 777: Unlucky and Tragic
According to the records in Buddhist Scripture, one disciple of Ananda wished to learn Heavenly Vision. Ananda taught him, yet after the disciple mastered Heavenly Vision, he strayed from the Buddhist Path and entered the Demon Path, which had an extremely detrimental impact.
Because of this incident, Buddhist sects almost erased the methods for cultivating Divine Skills from their scriptures; thus, contemporary Buddhist Scriptures contain only Buddhist teachings, with no methods for cultivating Divine Skills.
Hence, regarding the cultivation of eyes, the Buddhist scriptures only provide a simple introduction and lack detailed cultivation techniques.
Among the Five Eyes Divine Power, the Physical Eye refers to a person’s ordinary eyes, which can see very limited things and cannot see through all material objects. The visual distance is also very short. Through cultivation, one’s vision becomes better than that of an ordinary person, seeing farther and clearer.
The Heavenly Eye can see through material objects, commonly known as X-ray vision, but it is limited to seeing and does not necessarily understand what it sees.
A step further is the Wisdom Eye, where wisdom is not merely seeing but also understanding, making things clearer—not visually clearer but clearer in terms of the past, present, and future of things.
The Dharma Eye possesses two abilities—it is not merely at the level of "seeing" but can also affect things, such as shattering a chair with a gaze or restoring a collapsed house.
As for the Buddha’s Eye, it is of the highest level. While the Dharma Eye needs effort to change things, the Buddha’s Eye operates automatically.
Regarding the records of eye-related divine powers, it’s too mysterious, and even if Lin Tian possesses X-ray vision, he cannot comprehend it. X-ray vision is understandable and could be some kind of physical effect, similar to an X-ray machine in a hospital, which can also see through objects.
But claiming to clearly see the past, present, and future, and to change objects with just a glance, is too absurd for Lin Tian to accept.
However, he can be inspired by it, having a direction in which to strive. For Xiao Manxuan’s sake, no matter how unbelievable, he is willing to try, as there is no harm in doing so.
Lin Tian knew that he could not discover anything tonight and planned to leave the room, having stayed long, fearing he couldn’t help committing a crime.
Before turning to leave, Lin Tian bent over and reached out to pull up the air conditioning blanket, intending to cover her so that the little girl would not catch a cold at night.
Unexpectedly, just as he reached out his hand, Xiao Manxuan also suddenly reached out blindly and grabbed Lin Tian’s hand like a frightened young girl.
"Naughty boy, don’t go, I won’t let you leave..." the little girl grabbed Lin Tian’s hand and then mumbled unclearly.
For a moment, Lin Tian thought that Xiao Manxuan was pretending to sleep; otherwise, this situation was too coincidental. But after confirmation, she was indeed just talking in her sleep.
As a normal man, Lin Tian had a fleeting thought about whether to take advantage of the situation, but considering that the Second Miss was only eighteen years old, perhaps too young, two little figures in his mind began battling once again.
Just as his internal struggle reached its peak, footsteps suddenly came from outside the door. Based on his hearing, he should have noticed them earlier, but his attention had been diverted, only realizing someone was at the door once they were close.
No need to guess, whoever was coming to Xiao Manxuan’s room at this time had to be Miss; if she discovered the situation at hand, not even jumping into the Yellow River could clean his slate.
Lin Tian could already imagine Miss’s fury—it must involve unsheathing her sword and chasing him halfway across Xikou City, not stopping until she had caught him. Xiao Manxuan was her most beloved and cherished sister; this was tantamount to Lin Tian stealing from his own guardianship. If he had actually done anything, Miss might truly have killed him.
The sound of the door opening had already started; escaping now was impossible. The noise was too loud, and it would draw attention. Lin Tian hastily withdrew his hand, jumped over to the big coat closet by the bed, pulled it open, and hid inside. Just as he settled in, Miss walked in.
Having no prior experience hiding in closets, Lin Tian’s movements were a bit nervous, resulting in the closet door not being fully closed and leaving a small crack. Through this crack, he could clearly see what was happening outside.
After he hid, Lin Tian finally had time to look around. He found the closet was filled with Xiao Manxuan’s clothes which was a relief—it was a girl’s closet, filled with a faint, pleasant fragrance. If it had been a man’s closet, Lin Tian thought he might have wanted to die. Men’s closets, with clothes from the day before and especially socks, had a smell strong enough to kill cockroaches.
If that were the case, Lin Tian would rather come out and be beaten to death than hide in such a closet.
Damn it, why am I so unlucky tonight? I just wanted to come up and see, but now I’m stuck in this closet. Even though I had no bad intentions, I still can’t stand up to Miss’s imagination. If discovered, not even jumping into the Yellow River could wash me clean.
However fragrant the closet, the space was still cramped and crouching inside it made Lin Tian feel incredibly suffocated and irritable.
To distract himself, Lin Tian could only look outside, hoping Miss would leave soon. If she didn’t leave, it looked like he wouldn’t be able to escape tonight.
Miss first walked over to the Princess’s bed, affectionately touched Xiao Manxuan’s hair, and seemed dazed for a while. Lin Tian could see that Miss’s expression was troubled, likely due to the matters brought up tonight, which had made her worried.
"Xuanxuan, sister is going to take a shower first, and then I will sleep with you tonight," Miss softly said, completely unaware that Lin Tian was hiding in the closet.
This news was not good for Lin Tian. With Miss sleeping here, his risk of leaving increased several fold, but there was nothing he could do but wait.
Even though Miss was preparing to take a bath, she still held her sister’s hand, continually speaking softly. Watching the two beautiful women was indeed a feast for the eyes, but the setting was not right. While Miss seemed happy, Lin Tian felt suffocated in agony.
Watching TV before, those hiding in closets seemed so thrilling. Now he knew that was all fake. Sitting or standing in a closet was uncomfortable, and enduring the cramped space made any view outside unenjoyable.
Especially for someone as tall as Lin Tian, the closet felt even more suffocating relative to his height.
Most of what Miss said was comforting, about how to cure strange illnesses and not to worry. Lin Tian sighed lightly amid his suffocation—most of what Miss said was to comfort themselves. If it were that easy to cure, would it have taken until today?
"Xuanxuan, even though Lin Tian, that jerk, always annoys people, he’s not bad-hearted and has some skills. Even if I can’t find a cure, I believe he can; that jerk always pulls off miracles," Miss said with an unintentional smile on her face.
Lin Tian listened, feeling a bit melancholic. Was she praising me or insulting me? If it was praise, why did she have to add "jerk"? However, Miss finally got up and prepared to enter the bathroom.
Lin Tian felt thrilled and his body involuntarily moved, but just after he shifted, he immediately woke up, cursing internally, "Damn, I’ve screwed this up now. This is really jumping into the Yellow River and not being able to cleanse myself."
On such a quiet night, even the slight sound of clothes rubbing was clear. Perhaps ordinary people wouldn’t hear it, but Miss was no ordinary person!
