Chapter 706: Chapter 703: The Secret of the Beast Skin (Part 1)
"Follow me? I imagine with your overseas funds, having a comfortable life for the latter half wouldn’t be difficult. You might even make a comeback. Why bother following me and live at another’s beck and call? We in Huaxia have an old saying, ’Better to be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix.’ Boss Qi should understand this concept," Lin Tian said with a slight smile, devoid of any superfluous emotion.
Qi Dapeng let out a slight sigh, then a hateful glint flashed in his eyes as he responded coldly, "It’s true, better to be the head of a chicken than the tail of a phoenix, but what’s the use of being the head if one is still subject to slaughter by others? However, although the tail is just the tail, who would dare touch it!"
Lin Tian of course understood what Qi Dapeng meant and probed, "Boss Qi still can’t let go of the hatred towards the Japanese?"
"Let it go? How could I possibly let it go? Back in my youthful days when I was boxing, I nearly lost my life due to the dastardly tricks of those Japanese devils. And now, they have targeted my only son, seeking to end my family line. If it weren’t for Mr. Lin’s timely rescue, I might have lost my lineage!" Qi Dapeng replied.
"How can I face my ancestors with such a disgrace? This hatred is bigger than the heavens!" The more Qi Dapeng spoke, the more agitated he became, his malicious aura undisguised as he asserted, "None of those Japanese devils are good. I know Mr. Lin has conflict with them, and my following Mr. Lin is only to slay more Japanese devils!"
There are three unfilial acts, with having no descendants being the greatest; Lin Tian certainly understood Qi Dapeng’s feelings, rooted in centuries-old Huaxia beliefs.
"If you want to follow me, I have just one condition: you must comply with all of my arrangements. If you can’t do that, then there’s nothing to discuss," Lin Tian said calmly.
In his view, those who only knew how to flatter and were insincere in their actions were worse than dogs and often caused trouble.
"Whatever Mr. Lin instructs me to do, I will not hesitate, even with my overseas funds..." Qi Dapeng began, but Lin Tian interrupted him with a wave of his hand.
"If you follow me, I have no interest in your money. Our deal was very clear; I only want your company," Lin Tian said as he waved his hand dismissively. "It’s not wartime. I don’t need you to charge into battle for me. Your sole job now is to manage Dapeng Entertainment and make it grow."
"No problem. Since Mr. Lin is now the boss of Dapeng Entertainment, should we change the company’s name?" Qi Dapeng agreed and then inquired.
"Change the name?" Lin Tian pondered for a moment before saying, "Changing the name does have benefits. It lets people know that the company has been reinvigorated and is relaunching. Exposure is vital for an entertainment company."
"Has Mr. Lin thought of a new name?" Qi Dapeng asked respectfully.
"Tianfeng Film and Television," Lin Tian considered and then suggested a name. "Find a way to make the company’s new name hit the headlines and establish its brand."
"Got it. I’ll make a note of that," Qi Dapeng promised.
At that moment, Mr. Qi came over and said to Lin Tian, "Brother Tian, everything has been transported and is ready to be loaded onto the vehicle."
Lin Tian nodded and headed towards the car, which the Qi Family had prepared. Xiao Manxuan had already been carried into the car by a female bodyguard, and the little girl was still fast asleep. Kikuchi Mika, holding Lin Tian’s briefcase, waited outside for him to get into the car before she climbed in.
"Boss Qi, just have your driver take us back to the Xiao Mansion; there’s no need for you to escort us," Lin Tian instructed.
Qi Dapeng agreed, gave a few instructions to the driver, and the car departed from the airport.
After dozens of minutes, they finally returned to the Xiao Mansion. The potion cauldron was in another car and was handled by persons arranged by Qi Dapeng. Lin Tian had them move it to an empty room next to the villa, then he carried Xiao Manxuan upstairs.
After making sure Xiao Manxuan was settled, Lin Tian opened another room for Kikuchi Mika to stay in and, after much persuasion, managed to convince her to abandon the idea of helping with the bath.
Lin Tian carried the safe and ducked into his own room. He was not eager to look through the books in the safe; instead, he took out something from his pocket— it was the beast skin. He then laid out the beast skin solemnly on the table.
Since acquiring the beast skin, Lin Tian had not studied it in detail. Now that he had finally returned to the Xiao Family and things had come to a conclusion, he could concentrate on examining the beast skin.
It was unclear how the beast skin had ended up in the hands of Guizhong Yilang, who had used it to wrap books. After Lin Tian eradicated the shrine, the beast skin fell into his hands.
Back then, Lin Tian had only glanced at it briefly. There were no texts or patterns on the beast skin; it was blank. Now as Lin Tian spread it out for a closer look, he still couldn’t see any patterns, but he had a hunch that this piece of beast skin was no ordinary item.
"Right, let’s try looking with perspective ability!" Lin Tian murmured to himself and then activated his perspective ability.
No sooner had his perspective view touched the beast skin than Lin Tian saw a red light—it was emanating from the beast skin!
He remembered that the first time he used his perspective ability, he saw the very first piece of beast skin emitting the same red light.
Lin Tian became even more certain that the two pieces of beast skin were connected; they felt the same to the touch, and both emitted red light under perspective view.
However, after staring at the beast skin for a long time, other than emitting red light, it remained just as it was, with still no text on it.
How could this be? Lin Tian retracted his gaze, completely baffled. He knew the power of his perspective ability; so far, nothing had been able to hide from it.
Any invisible potion or invisible ink would be exposed under perspective view.
Lin Tian could assert that if even perspective view couldn’t reveal anything, it could only mean one thing—there really was nothing on the beast skin!
Could it be that after a senior expert had created the Cultivation Technique from beast skin, this piece was left over and insignificant? Lin Tian thought to himself.
He pondered for a moment, opened the cupboard in his room, and took out another piece of beast skin given to him by the female zombie. It clearly depicted twelve little figures, representing twelve cultivation movements.
Lin Tian, holding this piece of beast skin, went over to the table and carefully compared them. Indeed, they were exactly the same, except one had patterns, and the other didn’t.
Could it be that it needed to be exposed to the moonlight to reveal something? Lin Tian came up with a bizarre idea. He put down the one in his hand, picked up the beast skin on the table, and moved towards the window, letting the beast skin bathe in the moonlight.
Enveloped by the moonlight, the moment Lin Tian was anticipating did not occur; there was no change!
"Seriously? Do I need to practice cultivation with it in hand?" Lin Tian came up with another strange idea and actually began to practice cultivation with the beast skin in hand.
After completing a set of movements, the beast skin remained unchanged; Lin Tian, stubbornly, practiced another round. In the end, after doing so more than ten times and absorbing quite a bit of moon essence, the beast skin still showed no change.
"Damn it, what a waste of effort, not even giving me the slightest reaction!" Lin Tian was very frustrated and couldn’t help but let out a curse before throwing the beast skin onto the table.
The discarded beast skin landed right next to the other piece, partially overlapping it. Just as Lin Tian was about to give up, a strange phenomenon suddenly occurred.
