Chapter 654: Chapter 651 Black Robed Man
After a lightning bolt as thick as a water bucket passed, Lin Tian’s hair stood on end again. Strangely, such a thick bolt of lighting left the ground it struck unharmed, as if it were aimed specifically at Lin Tian or the Demon Blade.
"Heavenly Master, why on earth are you throwing lightning at me?" Lin Tian asked, mouth opening to expel a puff of hot air each time.
The only one he could think of was her. The weather tonight wasn’t bad; there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, so there was no way a sudden thunderbolt would occur.
If it wasn’t a natural disaster, then it had to be man-made. The only person present capable of using Daoist arts was her, the Demon Exorcist. If it wasn’t her releasing the lightning, what else could it be?
"Hmph, I wanted to punish you guys for talking nonsense!" the Heavenly Master Girl huffed.
"Punishment doesn’t need to be released with such a thick, massive lightning bolt; it could kill someone. Plus, I haven’t said a word; it’s all the broken blade spouting nonsense," Lin Tian said helplessly, feeling as wronged as Dou’e, who experienced snow in June, thunder in winter, and was more wronged than anyone could imagine.
"Broken blade, next time you speak, think it through. Don’t be so mindless, or you might invite divine retribution again. Besides, modern society is different from your era; you can’t just have any woman you want. In your current state, you’d become the public enemy of society in minutes," Lin Tian said displeased, schooling the sword.
"Lin Tian, I... I only released a small bolt of lightning just now, that huge one wasn’t mine," the Heavenly Master Girl suddenly said.
"Not you? Could it be divine punishment?" Lin Tian asked in surprise.
"Kid, stop talking, I sense a loathsome presence," the Demon Blade Muramasa seized control of the mouth, speaking gravely.
Since the Demon Blade was unsealed, Lin Tian had never heard it speak with such gravity. And when it mentioned loathing, it wasn’t said lightly. Lin Tian could feel its true hatred, and within that hatred, there was a sense of vengeance.
The Demon Blade was an extremely arrogant and brash individual, who always got even with its enemies on the same day, never leaving it to the next. The kind of grudge it still remembered after centuries... could it be? A thought struck Lin Tian.
"Lin Tian, I sensed it too just now. It was the overlaying of two Daoist arts that made the lightning above your head so thick and massive," the Heavenly Master Girl said from afar.
"Kid, enough blabbering. The thing I loathe is about to appear. Before it does, I want to destroy the remaining shrines once and for all," the Demon Blade interjected, raising the sword, ready to take action.
But before it could strike, a figure appeared at the end of the sairs on the platform. The Demon Blade turned around and glared intently at the newcomer.
To be precise, not just one person but four "people" appeared, each enshrouded in a wide black robe, covering their heads and faces, making it unclear whether they were human or ghosts.
The lead figure was also clothed in a black robe, adorned with gold embroidery in the shape of a mysterious pattern, suggesting a higher status than the four following.
This was the only Black Robed Man who didn’t cover his face. He looked indifferent, his complexion dark, thin-faced, with prominent brow bones, giving off a fierce impression.
Despite his fierce appearance, he didn’t seem like a warrior, because the object he held, which resembled a weapon, was neither a blade nor a modern firearm but a wooden staff.
The staff looked similar to an ordinary piece of wood, with the only notable feature being its polished surface, likely from the owner’s prolonged handling, so glossy that Lin Tian, with his keen eyesight, could even see the delicate grain of the wood.
"Thousand Illusion Breaking Sky Dance!" the Demon Blade Muramasa suddenly shouted without warning.
Lin Tian knew this was the Demon Blade’s Thousand Illusion Blade Technique, thinking it would attack the newcomer without warning. However, instead of charging forth, Lin Tian’s body, under the control of the Demon Blade, leapt up into mid-air.
Having reached the highest point, the Demon Blade in his hand suddenly moved at an extremely fast pace, so fast that the blade shadows covered all around Lin Tian, above and below, left and right. The blade’s cold light flickered, reflecting the piercing moonlight, so that Lin Tian seemed to be enveloped in a silver sphere of light.
In the past, Lin Tian had heard that when a person’s sword technique reached a very high level, they could move in such a way that when someone outside splashed water on them, not a single drop would touch the sword wielder—it was a realm where no water could penetrate.
But at this moment, Lin Tian felt that not even bullets could penetrate, let alone water.
At the brightest moment of the silver sphere, streaks of red light suddenly shot out from the sphere, and these red lights accurately hit the nearby shrines.
The shrines were instantly destroyed, dozens of wisps of blue smoke rose, and at least thirty Shishen appeared. However, these Shishen had no chance to even glance at the world before more streaks of red light shot out from the silver sphere, hitting each Shishen precisely.
The Shishen were instantly annihilated, and dozens of translucent spiritual energy orbs appeared. The Demon Blade Muramasa stopped moving in his hand, descending to the ground, and the spiritual energy gathered toward the Blade, quickly being absorbed.
Absorbing dozens of orbs of spiritual energy at once, Lin Tian received half of it, and all of it went into his brow.
It was fucking exhilarating, Lin Tian was over the moon inside, the massive energy surge made Lin Tian suddenly feel a warmth in his brow, and he quickly used his X-ray vision to inspect it. In the spot on his brow, he saw that flame mark once again.
Could it be that the Fire Power has condensed successfully? Lin Tian was overjoyed, but before he could enjoy the feeling for three seconds, the flame mark suddenly disappeared.
Damn it, it wasn’t successful. The appetite of the Fire Power was too big, Lin Tian felt extremely helpless and deeply regretful.
After absorbing the spiritual energy, however, the blade’s cold light suddenly dimmed, no longer as piercing as before. The cold light seemed to retract, but behind it, it was as if there was a layer upon layer of blood light within the blade.
But upon a closer look, this blood light wasn’t on the surface, but within the blade itself, as though the Demon Blade, after being soaked in blood from frequent killings, had the blood penetrate into the blade itself.
In the instant the blood light appeared, an even more intense aura of murder emanated from the Demon Blade, as if it would congeal into substance.
The Demon Blade had gotten stronger, that was Lin Tian’s first feeling, just unsure whether it had recovered to its peak state.
"Muramasa, we need more spiritual energy, quick, see where else we can find some," Lin Tian urged impatiently, seemingly even more eager than the Demon Blade itself.
"Kid, it’s too late, those annoying guys have come down," the Demon Blade said coldly.
The Demon Blade’s hunting of the Shishen was incredibly fast and abrupt that the five Black Robed Men seemed to have just reacted. The leader walked down step by step, with four ghostly figures closely following behind.
As they passed by Ning Luoxi and the others, the five Black Robed Men didn’t even glance at them, just staring at the Demon Blade in Lin Tian’s hand as they continued to walk, their goal clear, just as the Demon Blade had said, they were after the Demon Blade.
"You should have stayed underground, what are you doing up here!" However, as they passed by Oda Manaka, she suddenly said in a cold tone.
