Chapter 61 - 60 Bai Zhengchu
Chapter 61: Chapter 60 Bai Zhengchu
The residence of the Bai Family resembled a European-style villa even more. Lin Tian parked the car outside the villa and, after getting out, saw that there were already over a dozen cars parked here. They were all prestigious vehicles, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maybachs, and other luxury cars that Lin Tian couldn’t even identify the makes of.
In comparison to these luxury cars, the armored vehicle Lin Tian drove seemed hardly noticeable, even Elder Zhou’s ride was a Rolls-Royce Phantom. However, Lin Tian knew that if there were indeed an accident, it would be the Xiao Family’s armored vehicle that could withstand it.
"Let’s go, it’s about to start," Elder Zhou called out to Lin Tian, heading towards the Bai Family’s main gate.
Lin Tian and Elder Zhou entered the main gate, chatting and laughing, while Zhou Botong looked around curiously, seemingly searching for something. Beyond the gate was a garden, quite spacious, with a variety of flowers and plants grown all around and a fountain in the center.
Starting from the main gate, many neatly-dressed servants stood on both sides of the main path within the villa. The scale seemed much larger than Zhou Botong’s home, comparable even to the Xiao Family.
As they walked in, familiar guests greeted Elder Zhou respectfully. However, they were curious about the young man chatting and laughing with Elder Zhou. They recognized Elder Zhou’s grandson, but they didn’t know Lin Tian at all.
The circle of the wealthy is actually quite small, so naturally, they were curious when a stranger suddenly appeared, especially someone who seemed to have a good relationship with Elder Zhou. Elder Zhou was an authority in the jewelry and jade industry, so even a large jewelry clan like the Bai Family would not dare to offend him. Hence, some guests quietly inquired about Lin Tian’s identity.
The Bai Family villa’s living room was very spacious, on par with a hotel’s banquet hall, ornately decorated, with a crystal chandelier in the center that brightly illuminated the room.
A long table was set up in the middle of the living room, covered with a variety of pastries and drinks. Lin Tian glanced around, and estimated there were around thirty people. They formed small groups, each occupying a corner of the living room, chatting softly without making loud noise.
Although everyone was engaged in their conversations, the way they positioned themselves was very deliberate. In the innermost part, there was a smaller living room with a table set up, but no one had taken their seats yet.
A bit further out stood six or seven middle-aged individuals, smiling and talking about something. Moving outwards were the groups of younger people, the seating hierarchy in the entire living room was clear.
When Elder Zhou and Lin Tian entered, everyone in the living room ceased their conversations, all nodding and greeting Elder Zhou with respect. But when they saw Lin Tian, they all showed a look of surprise, wondering about the identity of the man who came with Elder Zhou.
"Haha, Brother He Xuan, you’ve finally arrived!" A hearty laugh suddenly came from the back of the living room. He Xuan was Elder Zhou’s name.
The person who dared to call out Elder Zhou’s name by his given name must be of the same generation as him. Before the voice had died down, a group of people walked out from behind.
The one at the forefront was an elderly man with completely white hair, seemingly about the same age as Elder Zhou but with a completely different demeanor. Elder Zhou was cultured and open-minded, while this old man was like a hawk, very sharp, and some younger individuals even seemed unable to look him straight in the eye when he appeared.
Such an impressive old man, Lin Tian thought with a glance, knowing this was a ruthless person.
"This is the actual person in charge of the Bai Family, Bai Zhengchu, Bai Yuze’s grandfather, known for being ruthless. It is said that when he was young, he went overseas to make his mark in Myanmar alone. Once, when a batch of the Bai Family’s jade was robbed by bandits in Myanmar, he took just a gun and stormed into the bandits’ lair alone, killing more than a dozen of them, and made his name with that one fight!" Zhou Botong saw Lin Tian’s puzzled look and quietly explained to him.
Being able to single-handedly kill more than a dozen vicious thugs with the least effort was easy for Lin Tian, as he was a zombie, but Bai Zhengchu’s ability to do so meant that he must have been formidable in his youth.
Half a step behind Bai Zhengchu was a beautiful woman with delicate, fair skin. Thanks to her great maintenance, it was impossible to tell her age.
Mrs. Xiao! It was actually Mrs. Xiao. Lin Tian was very surprised, but then he thought about it, and her attendance at such a gathering wasn’t strange at all.
Since Mrs. Xiao was there, where were the sisters Xiao Manxuan and Xiao Manxue? Following Mrs. Xiao was a middle-aged couple, and the man bore some resemblance to Bai Zhengchu. He must have been Bai Zhengchu’s son, Bai Yuze’s father.
After them were several young people, and indeed, the sisters Xiao Manxuan and Xiao Manxue were among them, as well as the brothers Bai Yuze and Bai Yufeng.
"Bai Zhengchu, you haven’t changed at all!" Elder Zhou, with Lin Tian and Zhou Botong in tow, walked over.
As the three of them approached, Mrs. Xiao and her daughters noticed Lin Tian behind Elder Zhou, and expressions of disbelief appeared on their faces.
Mrs. Xiao and Xiao Manxue both gave Lin Tian a deep look. This Lin Tian, who knew the highly respected Elder Zhou—how many more secrets was he hiding? Even for the Xiao Family, their relationship with Elder Zhou was just average, and sometimes when they asked Elder Zhou for favors, it would depend on whether he had time or not.
Only the naive Xiao Manxuan didn’t think too much about it. When she saw Lin Tian, her mood inexplicably lifted, and her beautiful eyes blinked at him. Lin Tian was electrified by the current in her gaze, his body tingling. This little girl was too bold, daring to flirt in public.
It seemed her bottom was itchy. Lin Tian covertly made a spanking gesture, frightening the little girl into quickly lowering her head, and her pretty face swiftly showed two shades of red. This little girl was becoming more and more alluring, and Lin Tian feared he would end up taking her one day if he couldn’t hold back. It seemed Miss was right; facing such a charming young lady, even Lin Tian had days when he couldn’t resist, and it was sensible of Miss to want to send him away.
While the two of them were exchanging glances, the Bai Yuze brothers were grinding their teeth in frustration. The one with the darkest expression was Bai Yuze. Because he had spent a night at Jinhua Villa, the tribute of his own house met an untimely end. Bai Yuze blamed this entirely on Lin Tian. If he had not been upset by Lin Tian, he would not have gone to Jinhua Villa to gamble and seek pleasure in women, which led to Uncle Zhao’s death.
What he didn’t know was that Uncle Zhao had been killed by Lin Tian himself. If he knew that, who knows what he would have thought.
"Xiao Tian, us old men will talk, you young ones go and play," Elder Zhou turned and said to Lin Tian with a smile.
Elder Zhou’s attitude made Bai Zhengchu take another look at Lin Tian, and just as Lin Tian also looked his way, their gazes met in mid-air.
The air seemed to coagulate for a moment. Lin Tian felt very annoyed as he looked at him. Damn it, trying to exert pressure and probe on a first meeting? He hated when people did that, assuming everyone was an ordinary young man afraid of you, so Lin Tian simply returned the gaze coolly.
Bai Zhengchu’s body trembled almost imperceptibly, and he took the initiative to avert his eyes, the knuckles of his hands clenched white behind his back. This outcome left Elder Zhou and Mrs. Xiao next to him quite surprised; they both took notice that in the exchange of looks, Bai Zhengchu seemed to have been at a disadvantage.
Xiao Manxue felt it even more acutely; she distinctly sensed Bai Zhengchu actually tremble!
