Chapter 44: Chapter 43: Treatment of Corpse Poison
"What are you growling about? Just turn over if I ask you to turn over, you think I’m scared of you, huh!" Zhang Lingyu, threatened by Lin Tian, retorted fiercely with pique. After speaking, she used her hands to support herself on the bed and slowly turned over, then lay down on her stomach.
After turning over, Zhang Lingyu waited for a long time without seeing Lin Tian make a move. She couldn’t help but turn her head to look at him, asking in confusion, "Why aren’t you doing anything?"
"How am I supposed to do anything? There are no buttons on this, how can I undo it?" Lin Tian looked for a long time, not knowing how to take off her clothes. It seemed she had to take them off herself.
"I... you..." Zhang Lingyu hesitated for a long time, unable to make up her mind. Having to take off her clothes in front of a boy was truly unacceptable for her. In the end, she said, "Just cut it from the back with scissors."
After she uttered those words, Zhang Lingyu’s originally pale face had turned beet red. She buried her head into the soft pillow like an ostrich.
"Scissors, huh? Looks like you’re into that sort of thing. But too bad, I don’t have scissors here, nor any knives," Lin Tian shrugged his shoulders, saying regretfully.
"Lin Tian, you... nobody likes that! When I get better, I’ll see to it that you beg for mercy!" Zhang Lingyu said through gritted teeth.
"Alright, alright, just lie down," Lin Tian, worried that her injury might actually worsen, stopped the chatter and decided to tear the clothes apart with his hands.
But when he tried to grasp the collar a few times, he found that the fabric of Zhang Lingyu’s dress, though thin, was surprisingly tough to tear. He said in wonder, "What kind of material is this dress made of? It’s so incredibly durable."
"It’s specially made fabric, put some strength into it," Zhang Lingyu’s said, her voice as faint as a mosquito’s.
Heh heh, put some strength into it, those were her words. Lin Tian suddenly exerted more force. With a "ripping" sound, Lin Tian was instantly dumbfounded—the dress was torn clean in half, and it seemed he had used a bit too much strength.
"Um, Zhang Lingyu, it seems there’s been a bit of an accident, but you can’t blame me. I don’t have many strengths, but physical strength is one, so it really was an accident," Lin Tian said, looking quite innocent.
It was indeed the case. The strength of a zombie is immense, something even Lin Tian couldn’t estimate. Thus, special fabric or not, it would be destroyed just as easily as if it was armor.
When Zhang Lingyu heard the "ripping" sound, she felt a coolness on her entire back and knew that her dress had been completely torn open by Lin Tian. She bit her lip, not daring to turn over, because if she did, her entire front would be exposed.
"How’s the wound?" Zhang Lingyu, after all, was no ordinary person. She regained her composure and asked weakly.
She was already hurt, and the shock from Lin Tian’s actions only made it harder for her not to feel weak.
Her question snapped Lin Tian back to reality. His gaze shifted upward, and when he saw a large black bruise on Zhang Lingyu’s back, the restlessness in his heart immediately calmed down. The girl was enduring so much pain and trusting him so completely, a wave of tenderness rose in Lin Tian’s heart.
He reached out and pulled a blanket from the bed, covering the area below the bruise. Lin Tian had no other choice; if he didn’t do this, he wouldn’t be able to focus. Zhang Lingyu felt warmth on her back as the blanket was placed over her.
With the blanket covering her back, Zhang Lingyu’s emotions settled somewhat. She said softly, "Lin Tian, thank you."
"Thank me for what?" Lin Tian turned around to fetch a basin of hot water, washed his hands, and asked.
"You didn’t take advantage of me when you had the chance," Zhang Lingyu said.
Lin Tian gave a dry laugh and honestly replied, "You think I didn’t want to? Who wouldn’t with someone as beautiful as you? But I’m an honest man, I can’t bring myself to do such a thing. Besides, I’m afraid you’d beat me up after you’ve recovered."
"You’re far from an honest man. The wound on my back looks ugly, doesn’t it? It’s not pretty at all," said Zhang Lingyu, feeling uneasy.
Every girl cares about her appearance, especially someone as beautiful as Zhang Lingyu. Her skin was originally very nice, but now it had turned dark over a large area, with black lines spreading out like tentacles, as if they were going to engulf or transform Zhang Lingyu.
Lin Tian shook his head without picking up on her words and said with a puzzled frown, "This isn’t just a normal bruise, what happened? Could it be poison? But this poison seems pretty aggressive!"
"Looks like you have some insight. Would you believe me if I said it’s Corpse Poison?" Zhang Lingyu turned to look at him and said.
Corpse Poison? Could it be the legendary zombie Corpse Poison, but Lin Tian himself was a zombie, and he hadn’t seen anything like Corpse Poison. He probed, "The Corpse Poison you mentioned, is it from a zombie?"
"No, it’s from a living corpse, what makes you think it’s from a zombie, have you seen one?" Zhang Lingyu looked at him curiously and said, "Zombies and living corpses are different. In some ways, zombies are a different kind of life form from humans, while living corpses are lifeless, walking dead without consciousness."
The zombie is right in front of you, how could I not have seen one? Lin Tian was actually more interested in her perspective on zombies—another life form, an interesting concept.
Interesting as it may be, now was not the time for academic discussions. Saving lives was imperative.
"I’ve studied some medicine and can help you clear the Corpse Poison. It’ll probably hurt a lot, so if you can’t stand it, just bite down on my pillow, if you don’t mind," Lin Tian said as he fetched an old razor blade he had bought. Ever since becoming a zombie, he hadn’t used those blades again.
"I got hit with Corpse Poison from a living corpse, and you’re not surprised? Ordinary people can’t understand and accept these things," Zhang Lingyu said, eyeing him intently.
While sterilizing the blade with fire, Lin Tian said, "You’ve known for a while that I’m not an ordinary person. I’ve seen more than you can imagine. Now tell me, how did you come across a living corpse?"
"You know about vampires, right?" After Lin Tian nodded, Zhang Lingyu continued, "I was fighting with a vampire when I was ambushed by a living corpse he created. That’s how I ended up like this."
There really are vampires in this world! Lin Tian was shocked for a moment, but then he realized, as a zombie himself, what was there to be surprised about.
"Vampires, huh? I’m curious, are they as handsome as the men and as beautiful as the women in movies and TV shows?" he casually asked.
However, the details could wait for later. Lin Tian focused his attention, his gaze peering through to the injured area of Zhang Lingyu.
The affected part of her back was blackened, with a black substance occupying the space between the muscles and meridians. This black substance, seemingly alive, was continuously spreading outwards.
Corpse Poison was indeed bizarre. This stuff was definitely contagious. Any other doctor would be at a loss, but they hadn’t encountered me, the genuine zombie, hehe, Lin Tian thought to himself with a chuckle. He took the blade and cut two intersecting crosses into the darkest area.
A stream of black blood immediately burst forth, and Zhang Lingyu bit down hard on the pillow, her body trembling faintly, fine beads of sweat appearing on her face and body.
